  • I heard the Violent Femmes once say: "You're never too old to rock and roll, and if ya suck, being young ain't gonna help ya."

  • Just an other God... What a power !

  • RAW! I love the Incredible power and energy this awesome man always brought with him.

  • This guy is cool and bad!

  • re: "And Madonna's in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?" Link would have beaten up her boyfriend, banged her, stolen her money and taken her car.... or it certainly sounds that way from his menacing tone! If Link isn't the R&R HOF, it is just one more reason not to go. Rock and roll isn't the kind of music that belongs in museums. It used to be about rebellion, untamed hormones, and getting laid - today's stars sip chablis, send their servants on errands and check the stock market. Pathetic.

  • @GeorgiaBoy1961 Brother, I couldn't agree with you more! Long Live Rock 'N' Roll, Long Live Mad Bad Link Wray!

  • This mad genius and forefather was born in 1929 lol - he's like 68 in this video. Truly amazing.

  • Come to the Blues on Broadbeach Festival , Link

  • I have seen so many wheelchair (Old) rockers

on youtube, it is good to see what they look like

    after all these years.

    Time Do go by.

  • I saw him live during this tour - in philly. They practically had to prop him up to get on stage... but once on, holy geez!!! It was also the loudest show I've ever seen. And I've seen some LOUD stadium acts!

Oh, and I got his autograph on a CD! In spite of that awful thing called his wife.

  • RIP Link Wray

  • Folks, the guitar is a 1965/66 Yamaha "SG-2" in Coral Red. It is not a Fender. In fact, some misinformed reviewer years ago called it Link's "...screamin' red Fender guitar", which resulted in Link naming the guitar "Screamin' Red". These Yamaha's are very rare and superbly built, with contoured back, rolled edges on the fretboard and killer pickups. BTW, I have one just like it (yes, I'm a big-time Link Fan!).

  • link wray, to me, sounds like rat rods, V8's, bobber bikes, primered chevies and fat fendered fords. awesomesauce

  • Had the fortune of seeing Link on his final tour...in Denver at the Bluebird Theatre. I truly didn't know what to expect; Link had his 77th birthday several days before and after he shuffled out onto the stage, his wife and son hung his guitar on him. He looked a bit haggard...then.....a slow...wind up windmill...and wham! The father of the power chord hit that first note....the audience roared and Link became thirty years younger. A special show....a great show!

  • Its a Fender mustang guitar by the bridge and shape and size of the body. I studied it for a while before I made the comment. It's not a Jaguar the pickups are not the same. Look on internet and see for yourself.

  • @srsteve12 @srsteve12 Are you sure? Doesn't look look like any Fender headstock I've ever seen.

  • Check out the Fender Mustang is that class or what, Sounds so good. RIP Link will we miss you.

  • @srsteve12 where do you see a fender mustang?

  • An original rocker. Man Link was playing shit in the late 50's way ahead of the times. Great to here and see him play.

  • @black325ibeamer To my great shame I just "discovered" Link and although a late starter am really getting into him.

  • this guy is the original rocker. how is he not in the hall of fame...who the hell is in charge over there???

LINK WRAY = ROCK N ROLL

  • @brianbu410 the same people that put ABBA in the R&R hall of fame are the ones keeping Link out.

No big loss for Link,really...I mean who wants to be in the company of ABBA anyway?

they really should set up a REAL rock n roll hall of fame...you know...one WITHOUT disco bands in it.

  • @XuliusCaesar: Agreed, but the R&RHOF is for middle-aged and older rockers with aspirations of being in the elites and ashamed of their humble origins. Rock and roll was originally invented by and for dead-end kids to take out their frustrations; otherwise they really might sack your town instead. Link is far-too-impolite for the chablis and brie set. If his sound is any indication, he'd elope with your teenaged daughter and steal your car after the show - and not care who knew it.

  • @GeorgiaBoy1961 like I said, we need a REAL hall of fame. not one with golden walls and platinum carpets, but one set up in an old garage with the air smelling of stale smoke and the carpet still stained with beer.

you don't need to explain the origins of rock n roll to me. I'm well aware, trust me on that.

  • Never made it to this show. Coulda would shoulda.

  • Yes, but it's great too!!!

  • He was born in 1929, so he's, let me get my calculator.

  • @mjazzguitar 68 then

  • @WrongGenerationWilf No it is not great, but it is pretty freaking cool.

  • go fuck yourself this is the real dough, go watch your MTV bullshit while real rockers enjoy this

  • this was about the THE coolest guy in the world. nice ponytail

  • Godfather of Thrash!

    King of Reverb!

  • And Madonna's in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?

  • @verbaud That and Abba truly make the RnR HOF a joke.

  • Bimbo's around 1997.

  • THANK GOD I SAW HIM LIVE.

  • @ecnalubma696969 I wish I had!!!!!

  • @ecnalubma696969 ...really?

  • @ecnalubma696969 I saw him live, too. Except he wasn't playin. He was smokin a cigarette, with his 1 and only lung, outside the Rocket Room. Several times I saw him there. Also live on the Milt Grant show, bout half a mile from my family's home. Milt Grant, who knew my dad, stole all Link's copyrights.

  • @ecnalubma696969

    You Lucky Bastard

  • God bless Link Wray! I saw him play live and met him as well. A lovely, lovely man.

  • I missed seeing him live, but he is my main influence as a guitarist.

And judging by this showing alone, all that i imagined he would be.

    Wild, loud full throttle rock'n'roll!

Why don't the 'media' give the recognition he deserved.

    Truely the cream!.

  • tis is my great uncle and he did this on my 5th birthday

  • Ten years ahead of his time.Link is forever!

  • okay, i was misinformed, thanks for the corrections. peace

  • Don't you like the Ventures. They wrote Wipe Out, IMO, Mel Taylor is the crazier drummer. I saw a vid with Max Weinburg and Mel trading off solos with the Ventures. Personally, I think the Ventures are the original deal. I think Wipe Out by the Ventures better. But, that is only my taste. I like black licorice, too. lol

  • @nrobnas43 The Ventures wrote many fantastic instrumentals in their heyday (Check out the Ventures In Space LP) but unfortunately none of them became hits.

  • I think it's interesting when you go to Dick Dale the people call him the king of surf music. Well, imo he's great but he isn't as versatile as Link. Link did the surf bit, too. Then the Ventures are totally kick ass and have way more signature tunes. I think LW is King and up there with Chuck Berry as greats.

  • what's wrong with gay porn?

learn to tolerate people who look different

  • he was totally checking that chick out lol

  • saw same tour with stain glass back gruond in dayton great stuff

  • Forever the King of rock and roll.

  • Man, that's seriously vibing and heavy as shit. F/n A!

  • that is shit!!!

  • Rockin'!

Not bad -- for a 68 (and a half!) year old!

  • yeah he's the coolest guitarist!!! he still rocked it at the age of late 60s! (comparing to the the sights from those guys in rolling stones)

  • Lux and Link are jamming in the afterlife!

  • @bangtwister

Nah man they down in hell kicking up a storm ;-)

  • @bangtwister Whoa, whoa, whoa! Who's this Lux person? I must know!

  • a true AMERICAN

  • wild man

  • ABSOLUT HERO!!!

    THE ABSOLUT KING!!

  • Invented the power chord.....big influence on Pete Townshend

  • Hell Yeah!

  • R.I.P JacK The Ripper 8P

  • R.I.P. Link !!!

  • That is one wild video. The man made the transition from 50's rock to hard rock like no one else did - hell, he invented hard rock.

  • Link Wray invented rock'n'roll he was God among men

  • He checks out a chick at 1:15. Alright...

  • Link Wray is God!

  • Legendary.....

  • it s fuckin awesooooome!!

  • I LOVE LINK!!!

I saw him 5 times, cried every time, and the last 4 times I saw him, he winked at me and shook my hand!!!!

Did he recognise me? Or am I just imagining it?

  • meh, why question? haha

  • this song beats all!!!

  • Simply awesome. I wish I could've seen him before he died.

  • the original, the real deal, true rock n' roll.

  • Link paved the way for many a musician, including Zeppelin, Dylan and a big lot!

    R.I.P Link

  • Yeah...others like Motorhead. He was really on fire

  • You are so right djsundancekid.

  • Who says old dudes can't do noise rock?

  • According to Link... nobody could say it! That's the evidence...

  • he has tributes played for him all over the united states.....they are so much fun...if you ever get to go to onw you will be happy. The first one they ever had was in marylnad and there were people from all over wanting to get in that did not even have a ticket and they slept outside.....it was awsome

  • Fuck yeah man! He's so raw!
