Hence your premise- exertion of effort is necessary to meaning - is questionable.

  • contd-2

You are forming your argument by citing/ invoking common or general experience. The question -what is the meaning of life?- seeks the answer to the ultimate purpose of human beings. In your argument you fail to realize that the very purpose could be in comprehensible to humans and hence not readily intutive.

  • simmerahluwalia, I don't need to entertain the idea that the meaning of life could be incomprehensible because I solve the problem of explaining what it is. Besides, once you understand what knowledge is (as per my theory of knowledge), you'll see that it is irrational to propose that there is something that is incomprehensible -- that is, something that exists but cannot, of logical necessity, be known and understood.

I know that most men. including those at ease with the problems of the greatest complexity, can seldom accept the simplest and the most obvious truth if it be such as would oblige them to admit the falsity of their conclusions which they have proudly taught to others, and which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabrics of their life. - LEO TOLSTOY

  • simmerahluwalia, Tolstoy's observation attests to bias that is inherent in our pursuit of knowledge, but as of Einstein's relativity theory, the role of observer perspective is integrated into our understanding of knowledge. My theory of knowledge explicates the structure of knowledge and, as a result, the role of observer perspective.

Since observer cannot be disassociated from observation. And observation is a vital constituent of our understanding of knowledge, you have to understand that perceived reality could be different from the actual reality. Hence you cannot say with absolute certainty what the actual purpose of purpose of our existence is. You may be able to point out a perceived purpose but not the actual pupose.

  • simmerahluwalia, suppose that I build a bridge across a chasm that, despite many attempts, had never been bridged before. And suppose that I show you photos of the bridge and that I explain the main ideas in the design. You respond that the photos may be fake and that, even if they're not, there may be an error in my calculations, so the bridge may come crashing down one day. This is useless talk! If you're interested in my theory, study it, and make a substantive challenge if you wish.

  • @UnderstandHumanLife according to string theory, there could be more than four dimensions. Some of which we can't perceive, since we discard alot of data because our sensory organs cannot pick them up. Hence the real purpose of life will continue to elude humans will we evolve into beings who can perceive all reality.

  • @UnderstandHumanLife

To appropriately and accurately understand the meaning of life, life has to be understood in relation to the whole, without such understanding the meanings thus deciphered would form a solution on the basis of limited view of the universe,or in other words, on the basis of "tunnel vision".

Here come the greatest problem. There many theories that try to define the universe but most admit that since we are trapped in 3-d world the actual picture could be incomprensible

  • simmerahluwalia, my theory of knowledge clarifies what constitutes knowledge, and once you understand what constitutes knowledge, the human capability to know becomes clear.

As for understanding life as a whole, my book presents a comprehensive theory of human life in seven chapters: knowledge, reality, religion, ethics, commerce, government, and meaning -- the meaning of life. The chapter on the meaning of life is the climax of the panoramic understanding of life presented in the book.

yes, but I am not convinced by your video alone. You may have written on the subjects that you mentioned, but that does not make your theories necessarily correct.

In my opinion any subject can first be defined by setting certain parameters and then further theories can be postulated on the basis of that definition (premise). However, in basing your premise you have made certain assumptions. Unless I check the validity of such assumptions, I cannot agree with you.

  • you are making many assumptions in the questions that you ask:-

When you ask - why do we feel hurt when we receive deficient thanks?- you are generalizing that everyone does feel that way. I ,however, do not feel hurt but I do feel that I was party to a transaction in which I did not generate enough social value equivalent to the effort that I invested.

  • simmerahluwalia, the commonplace examples that I cite illustrate that the exertion of effort is necessary for meaning, however you wish to depict the scenarios verbally.
