  • the third barrel on the neos is a 7" so just get the 7" for both

  • Unless it's "full auto" - it's a "battle rifle", not "assault rifle" LOL

"Assault rifle" is what the gun haters call anything black LOL

  • The Smith is an awesome shooting gun in the right hands! I don't know why you would consider it to feel cheaply made I think it feels pretty good myself. Haven't shot the beretta though, gonna have to have one of those soon!!

  • The neos is better for folks with sm-med. Hands...if you have big mitts...you'll like the S&W better...the 22a neos and browning buckmark are very similar other than looks...the rugers run better but they are all lots of fun!

  • I have access to pretty much everything out there...I routinely have used my bosses mod 41 and colt match target shooting with my wife...but I wanted a cheap one for my kit and so I could plink without borrowing a rediculoysly expensive gun...i've owned mkII rugers over the years and shot mki, and III's the 22A-1 is a good econo-plinker...it has occassional FT and FT fire but is normally reasonably reliable...not as much as rugers are...the neos is a slightly nicer mire reliable and really odd

  • i've shot both and in my opinion the 22A is a better gun it feels better and shoots smooth and straight but they are about even in my book just hate the angle and grip on the Beretta

  • I'm sure you might know by now but there is a 6", a 7.5", and a 16.5" carbine kit barrels.

  • i have a mark 1 ruger its easy feild strip but tough put togther same as mark 11,111

  • @cooldog60 Well S&W told me to replace it every 2000 rounds. When mine got close it would no longer stay on the rod and was chewed up. If you think the S&W is the best gun ever you have not shot any guns worth a shit. It isn't even the best $250 gun by far. The S&W model 41 may be the best 22 ever made but the 22A sure as fuck isn't. People tend to get but hurt when you dog on the only gun they own so I'm sorry if your upset but save up your McDonalds money and get a good one.

  • In which ways is the Ruger better than these 2? Thanks

  • @TR5T The quality of the materials is the biggest advantage. Most of the Rugers also come with a bull barrel. The S&W is really cheaply made. The Beretta is better but neither are as nice as the Ruger. They have all been reliable but the ruger shoots tighter groups when clamped in my shooting vice. The internals on the Ruger are of much higher quality and don't require replacement as often. The S&W has a tiny plastic piece that only lasts a couple thousand rounds.

  • Cabellas is going to have the Baretta 6" barrel gun on sale for $219. 9/15-25/2011 I like the way you load the magazine it has that spring retaining mechanism that you can hold the pressure back while you load your mag. I have a Marlin 22 that I simply hate loading the mag bc they cause your hand to hurt you simply get to where you cant reload anymore and are forced to go home early. Marlin is a good riffle not somethimng you want to put a lot of rounds through in a short period of time.

  • Thanks for the info I am looking into a .22 pistol as well for the same reasons as you. Right now I am leaning towards the Mark III. What is your latest thought on which one is better between your two?

  • @airgreek I actually own a Ruger 22/45 MKII and it is a better gun than these two but it was more expensive. I have the stainless model but you can get get the black model much cheaper. The only down side of the ruger is that it is very difficult to field strip. It isn't that bad once you get used to. I prefer a Mark II over the new MK III because it does not have a magazine disconnect. When you field strip the MKIII it requires you to insert the mag several times to take it apart.

  • @choke4smoke What is the advantage of the stainless model over the standard other than corrosion resistance?

  • @airgreek No real advantage just a little easier to take care of but they run around $100 or so more. Of the Neos or the 22A I like the Neos better. It is made better and has a better feel. But neither of them are at the level of the Ruger. I will say I have yet to get a jam or failure from any of the 3 guns. I shoot my Ruger the most and rarely clean it with no issues at all. The magazines are also the cheapest for the ruger because they have been around forever.

  • @choke4smoke agreed! I own the MK II AWESOME gun.
