I am a forklift driver and yes he made the mistake of not lifting his load over the pallets (black pile)on the left-he would have cleared the racking on his right..

One of my jobs was getting 18mm 3600x 2400 sheets of lamipanel through a 2400 wide rollerdor to the beam saw. A very tricky operation indeed!
