  • Thomas, he kicks children in the face FOR AMERICA!!

  • I had this game

  • Gotta get an old nes. I miss these games so much.

  • What does the dragon by the lives do

    ?

  • Damn this game was tough! Bloody midgets!

  • Maybe I should read some of the comments first before I post.....

  • This game is awesome. It seems to be lfting quite heavily from the Bruce Lee movie Game of Death.

  • Fun Fact: This game was based off of the final scene in the Bruce Lee movie Game Of Death.

  • u can tell this guys worthless or dumb from 1.43,how dumb do u have to be not to press button when crouching lol

  • Do a review on the 7800 kung fu master

  • Just runaway from the bees if they chase you...

  • i suggest watching the video of the guy that beats this game in 5 minutes WITHOUT BEING HIT ONCE. Calling Kung Fu Hitless or something. It's pretty cool...

  • is this a two player game

  • @Absol281 yes it is

  • Love that Thomas the Tank Engine reference you made.

  • Dude extra thumbs up for Anthrax mention, awesome band :)

  • thomas... not the train... With the best voice evar

  • "in this game, you play as Thomas, not the train" hahaha! you are amazing mark!

  • Imagine actually playing this as Thomas the Train...

The game would've been much easier.

  • I love how one of the bosses is just a fat black guy in a wife beater.

  • No wonder this guy thinks Kung Fu is overrated, he sucks balls at it!

  • Thomas the Train is far from the first thing I thought when I hear the name Thomas

  • rucas at 3;25

  • lol this is based off the jackie chan movie

  • I remember this game.Hahahahahah incredible. There was another game called karakteka,or something like this

  • @fredlburrows Well, of course I cannot judge the game with a perspective full of nostalgia for this game since I was not alive at the time it was released. All I can do is judge the game on its fun factor and how it holds up today. I enjoy tons of NES games that I think are still fun and hold up well. Kung Fu is not one of these games. Yes, at the time it may have been groundbreaking, but today the gameplay comes as way too basic and frankily its quite boring.

  • i have this game and it is addicting and hard

  • I beat this game!!! wahahahaha!!!

  • First video game I ever played =D and beat too!

  • 11 people got there a*sess kicked by the first boss

  • 20 years ago or now, I just never really cared for this one at all. Kung Fu *Heroes*,on the other hand, is one of my all time favorites ...on any system.

One brings a smile to my face instantly, the other just leaves me confused as to why it was so popular.

  • Thomas...early Lo kang

  • I can't believe there is a timer like in Super Mario xD

  • You must review Ninja Golf please!!

  • You're right, you are very bad at this game

  • damn it i wanted to be a train

  • Awesome. I remember getting this back in 1989 when I first got the NES game system (which came with Super Mario 1). Brings back memories. Hails.

  • ANTHRAX!!!

  • oh yea cant forget Battletoads :p

  • Oh yeah and anyone remember Skate Or Die? i think that was what it was called.

  • LoL man i remember this game, it was so damn hard i never got to beat it. Its just too bad the AC plug went out on me.

I can name a few titles i remember owning, Kung Fu, PopEye Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros 1 2 and 3, Duck hunt, Tiger Heli, Commando, Contra, Predator, Zelda 2, RAD RACER. I was pretty lucky i had so many games cuz my dads friend gave us his NES games.

Lol CGR should play and Review Family Dog for the SNES.And I wonder if he reviewed Judge Dredd for the Snes yet?

  • 10 people hated this review. n whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???? or probably missed the like button

  • Why do people call it the SNES, would it be just easier to call it Super Nintendo?

  • @RadicalNIN It saves a second of ones lifetime...

  • I swear to God, those little green things look like Oompa Loompas.

  • looks good for being a snes game

  • @AzumGaming NES. Not SNES

  • @6Mega6Man6

    sorry I ment nes

  • i still got my snes and that game, but i always suck in that game XD

  • Great game!!

  • ... Why am I singing along to your start :O?

  • loved this game

    totally classic

one of my first NES games along with turtles and excitebike

  • hahahaha "Thomas, not the train"

  • This isn't even all that great, but it's still better than any Atari 2600 game out there, except for maybe Pitfall.

  • CGR never gets old

  • What does the dragon count thing signify?

  • @pcostel1 It meens AIDS

  • @link000000 HAHAHAHA I literally laughed out loud at that. Thanks!

  • "AAHHGG!!!! It just bounced off my hay!" Um, what the hell?

  • loved it

  • The theme sounds a bit like Ryu's Theme but faster

  • I love NES games! Haha! This hobbits grabbing your legs looks like an enemy of the game "Two Crude Dudes" for Sega Genesis.

  • I remember this game and in retrospect I think we all give it more credit then it deserves. I do think it gets points for style cause any game with "voice-like" sound effects in that era wad impressive and he makes a pretty convincing "hi-ya!" sound. Lol. But even then the gameplay was repetitive and boring.

  • @#$@ing hobbits!

  • WTF A VIDEO ADD INTERRUPTED THE VIDEO

  • 7 people who watched this like being humped on their legs by hobbits.

  • 7 people got their asses kicked by mike tyson

  • @rubin3364 i think a lot more then seven people got beat up by Mike Tyson he was pretty tough boxer

  • @SonnyJWright he is refering to the dislike boxes...at the time of his comment 7 poeple pressed dislike

  • @rubin3364 11

  • @rubin3364

One fucker put a X disliker comment.

  • @rubin3364 when

  • there is not enough side scrolling beatem ups anymore

  • Thumbs up for Anthrax reference!

  • Ahahaha! Leg humping hobbits. That's funny.

  • nice. I used to own this game when i was younger. Very nostalgic. Thx dude

  • @C00lVids19 Well, considering the NES wasn't released in '84 -- the Famicom came out in '83, and the NES came out in '85 in the US and '86 in Europe -- it sounds like you WERE lying.

    Typical dishonest golem behavior.

  • if u see kid niki, try that game.

  • cool

  • I played this on Commodore 64, one of the more known games on c64.

  • Anthrax FTW

  • you are a good review...but yea, you DO suck at this game...

  • That's not Mike Tyson, that's George Foreman!

  • damn dude you almost died on the FIRST level!

You should try the Kung Fu for Atari 2600 - that's a terrible game!

  • "aah get off my leg hobbit!" XD

  • Gonna have to download and master this game now. Never beat it back in the day.

  • Looks liek "Viligante" for me :P

  • this game was too hard for me haha

  • The only game where you can die by getting hugged to death.

  • i never did beat that second level

  • he looks like tommy from 'Best of the best'

    lol

  • i love this game !

  • Silvia!

  • Actually, this game is not a button basher at all. There is a lot more strategy and quick reflexes required for this early beat 'em up than in later games in the genre like Double Dragon and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game. THOSE were button bashers, this one has aged much better, with its super responsive controls and clearly defined graphics.

  • I could never beat this game as a child.

  • The japanese version of this game was called Spartan X and was based on a Jackie Chan movie.

  • You need to run a few reviews on psx on the iPad using the classic wii controller!

  • There aren't many games where you get to kick midgets.

  • The noises Thomas makes when he kicks remind me of Michael Jackson's moonwalker for the Genesis.

  • love this game

  • Without Kung Fu, there (probably) never would have been Kung Fu Kid.

  • I loved this game. I never ended up finishing it however. A bit difficult for my age.

  • The hobbits look more like leprechauns to me! Haha, anyhow they are awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • @tighten11234 And you made it on the list, too!

  • 4:07 Oh Mike tyson Punched you Out! That was the Punch Out of Mike Tyson!

  • this game calls for a baby punching joke

  • Finally an old skool review. I'm tired of these ipod and xbox live games trying too hard to be this good.

  • @Bloodthr0e Why are those games being reviewed on a review channel with the name "CLASSIC" on it, anyhow?

  • @Tenspeeder Mark seems to review anything game related and many things that have nothing to do with gaming and always does a great job

  • OMG I loved those little green guys!

  • @lctb51 stupid

  • I played this game soooo many times, back in the days! :)

  • 3:04 lol

  • 3:40 \,,/>.<\,,/

  • I also agree that this game was overrated. Played it for the 1st time a month ago. I get that it was revolutionary for its day, but the gameplay is much too simple and repetitive to hold up to later beat em ups. The fact that you can't move vertically up and down and you just mash buttons as you move left to right makes this game get old quickly. I find with a lot of NES games people are blinded by their nostalgia and praise games that they havent played in 20 years.

  • @Lazyhoboguy

Since you only first played this a month ago, your opinion that is is overrated is completely void due to the fact that you didn't experience it as a youth when it was new. No child played this and proclaimed that it was "revolutionary" but they did think it was fun. The controls are simple and functional, the game is considerably difficult, especially for a child with developing motor skills and short attention spans, and its easy to just pick up and play.

  • @fredlburrows (continued) I don't hold in any value in what kids think of games or what my opinion of a game was when I was a little kid because little kids like any game. I liked horrible games a kid, but I don't recommend them to people because I know if I still get any enjoyment from them now it is just do to nostalgia and I can see that the games themselves aren't very good.

  • Memories alright!! HA! rad

  • 2:55 LOL Hobbits

  • This is a fun game! People can say they don't like it now, but even when you only started playing games in the 90s, like me, you grow to really appreciate both the simplicity of visuals and the challenging gameplay. A time when games were more about challenge and curiosity than merely beating it. There is a degree of satisfaction with beating older games that does not exist so much for newer games. However, I will say this game is okay to me now. You can just play it casually, and still beat it.

  • Mark, lol, my first game console I ever played was the NES, then the Playstation, never Atari, then I got a Wii, and now am purchasing a Playstation 3!!!! Nintendo and Playstation are arguably the best of the game consoles. I have never wanted an Xbox!!!

  • You and AVGN should co-narrate a lengthy review on a compilation of both good and bad games. Honestly, i love listening to anything the two of you review. i hope others agree with me. thumbs up. imagining that review is like killing me inside.

  • @MrJesseFisher AVGN is annoying and immature.

  • @MrDaaark You know hes acting right? If you go to his website he doesnt yell and swear in all his videos like he does in AVGN.

  • @TheOrangeDart Yeah, I know he's acting. Changes nothing. The content is still the same. The two styles are apples and oranges.

  • @HermanAnimation He did a Movie review with Nostalgia Critic once

  • @MrJesseFisher lol and this would crush irate gamer!

  • the game that taught me about leg humping midgets.

  • @100PurpleCoins No sadly. It's blasphemy I tell you.

  • Imagine a 3D version of this game, lol, with the hobbits running up to you!!!

  • Looks very repetitive and frustrating.

  • thanks for doing an NES game again!

  • Anthrax rules!!!!

  • @InecomCompany uhh mr. X like the one from streets of rage

  • I played this a lot as a kid

  • I feel kinda bad for Mark. He gets to play the games he reviews for a good amount of time but after that he has to move right on to the next one. It seems like he never has time to go back and play the games he previously reviewed. Oh well, at least the guy gets paid.

  • Yes, Kung Fu is a very hard game but keep playing, and even you can become a master in kung fu.

  • They didn't have Nintendo in 1985.

  • @91238673 yes they did thats when it was released

  • @91238673 Obviously they did if this game was published in 1985 thanks for showing off your IQ.

  • @91238673 Obvious troll is obvious. His username is a number!

  • Hey, this is a NES classic most should know. Glad he got it out at this time for a nice review.

  • thank God for next gen games!

  • remember the laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3 people hate the nes

  • How do this MoFo kick out 9 reviews every single day?? WTF??

  • @boverhof3 that is a great question, how does he do it?

  • @theawesomedouchebag Enthusiasm, commitment, motivation, fun, addiction...

  • I love how you had to clarify this isn't Thomas the train.

  • I got this game for $3.50, completely worth it.

  • I think this game first introduced me to "Video Game Rage". My mom would play it and scream "That fucking bald bastard! Cheap shit!".

  • @RMD00

Sounds like my mom..there was no videogame involved though.

Just kidding :D My Dad isn't bald..

  • Dam that was one of the first games I ever played on my old NES and it was the only one I had for months Mario broke T_T

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU WANT A KUNG FU REAMAKE ON THE WII

  • @FireWing404 no, just no O_O

  • @FireWing404

    DISGRACE!

  • i hated this game

  • AWESOME !!!

  • i thought he was the train, on his way to kick ass town.

  • More like punching out George Foreman, not Tyson.
