  • I bet Greenpeace don't complain so much when Oil runs out........." oh s**t, how do we get to work now? how do i heat my house? how do i feed my children? " You guys use as much fossil-fuels to fuel your campaign against using fossil fuels as the next person does. Its a farce. Yes natural wildlife may be harmed in research but researchers are not out there damaging life on purpose.

Quit Whining about it and go fill your ships up with more Heavy Fuel Oil.

  • But how will you power those stupid, ugly Prius thingys?

  • Greenpeace has requested to be my friend! HELL NO ! I cant stand these people ! All of you are rite! This country needs to get its "own oil", desperately !. Everything unfortunately depends on oil until we find an alternative.

  • i know this comment may be really vapid.... but i like the background music. ;)

  • Noble Iniciative but perhaps not so eloquent... Your machine is powered by the same monster you are trying to destroy... Row, row, row your boat....

  • more Irony - The little thing your typing your ill informed uneducated comments from also contain petrochemicals. Also those camera's your protesters are filming their reckless protest also contain petrochemicals so basically your whole campaign is very much reliant upon the produce of the evil oil companies given that almost everything you touch contains some form of by product from oil!

  • @SIRxTxBONE That shows there isn't even the option to avoid oil and still achieve anything. Are you suggesting they make their own oil free cameras before they can use any without being hypocrites?I doubt they have the support to pull off what you are implying.Seems they have no choice if they want to reach the public. You've pointed out the overreliance on oil yourself, and the arctic drilling is an unacceptable length to go to for it.Why risk oceans when oil is not even sustainable?

  • Cleaner energy? Greenpeace has a wind powered yacht in it's fleet yet chooses to use a fuel guzzling beast to ironically protest about the evils of the oil industry despite being a customer of the oil industry! Also petrochemicals are used in everything from plastic to pharmaceuticals. Oil is just not used to as fuel. Maybe Greenpeace should do some research into what they are actually protesting against!

  • So the only opposition you have to the oil rig is that an iceberg may collide with it? Are there any cases where this has happened?

I agree we should be utilising clean energy as much as possible. Wouldn't Greenpeace's resources be better used by funding wind, wave and solar energy projects? Lobbying the government and perhaps subsidising co2 reduction schemes at people homes - the cause of more than 40% of co2 emissions in the UK?

I'm a supporter, but i don't really understand the point of this

  • @pdpaolos "Wouldn't Greenpeace's resources be better used by funding wind etc?" - er, a bit of realism would help please - we are a small ngo, not a multi-billion dollar energy company.

To clarify, our opposition to drilling in the Arctic is that as oil stocks decline, companies are pushing technology beyond its limits to extract the last drops - this was the root cause of the Deepwater disaster, any repetition in the Arctic would decimate one of the few remaining pristine places on earth.

  • @GreenpeaceUK As you suggest, we direct the bulk of our efforts at lobbying governments to effect policy change, but the new hunger from oil companies vying to extract any source of oil, no matter how difficult or dangerous (such as from the Arctic or Canada's tar sands, for example), has made it imperative that we shine a spotlight on what they are doing and the likely disastrous consequences.

  • I agree this is really reckless

  • too late rolls royce is dead nasty stink in mexico

  • i totally agree, how can Cairn Energy be so selfish?? cleaner energy is better energy, dont they think they have taken enough? greed is not green and im pretty sure the polar bears would have something to say abou this : /
