Seriously though, in any versus races when you get good enough it's common to check behind you constantly.  And by the way, while we're on the topic, I have videos of driving entire courses without letting go of the button to look backwards.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean the boost itself, once you get the timing down it's normal to get a boost like that. If you mean reaching the next boost, (like it says in the description) I held the A button up until the first boost.

I'm referring to the starting boost. I watched your timing on getting the boosting start, which is EXACTLY how I do it, and yet I've NEVER gotten a boost THAT fast, EVEN WITH Funky Kong on the Flame Runner.

Even a tiny difference in timing can give a different boost.  If you watch any world records or videos from people who are skilled at time trials, you'll see that they almost always get the same boost that I got. The character and vehicle doesn't matter.

I've watched TONS of time trial videos, both here on youtube and on MKW, and NONE of them show anyone getting that fast of a rocket start. Not even videos from Regional and World Champions.

I watched this video side by side with the Koopa Cape WR in the related videos and with one of NMeade5's videos. I couldn't notice any significant difference, so I'm not sure what it is you're seeing... Besides, if it's just the start boost, that seems kind of insignificant...

It's not a cheat. If you're referring to the boost at 0:51, that is from a trick off the wavy section. Similarly, 0:58 is from a boost off the oval ramp in the center. The only mushrooms used are at 1:03, 1:05 and 1:10.
