Trying to be understanding that he is inexperienced. The Italian is absolutely butchered and it comes out sounding more like a pop song. I believe the main issue is a misunderstanding of the source material.
You have a nice instrument with good tone. The potential is obvious and with some training you can fine tune your instrument. Keep singing and follow your passion.
dude, you should work on your Italian diction. your vowels are too wide, and you separated every syllable of every word, which is NOT how it should be sung. your tone, however, is good, but still work on your language skills in general if you want to try other languages.
Too americanized. and someone posted that music like this shouldnt not be sung into a microphone and they are right. ive performed this piece in front of over 3400 people without a mic and reached the furthest row back perfectly fine. if you are singing it right you wont need a mic. for future reference.
Honestly you have a nice voice, and the point of singing it to create sound, and if you ask me its more important to sound pleasant than to pronounce the words the way they were ment to be
realmente orrible es una ofensa para la musica como es posible esta aberracion de verdad es asqueroso y ofensivo pudrete imbesil como osas profanar una obra tan bella y ahorrense responder a este comentario ya que no creo que alguien sepa algo de musica aqui
The voice is listenable, but I was irritated by the fact that almost every vowel came out as an English diphthong. I don't blame the singer for that, it was the teacher's job to teach how a pure vowel is pronounced.
Well done! Tyson Rost sang this with integrity. He obviously worked on this performance. His timing and pronunciation were good, especially considering he sang without breath support which a more experienced classical singer would use.
A lovely peroformance, I hope he continues singing. He has a fine voice and musicality that bode good things to come. Buona Fortuna !
I don't agree at all that this is a "bad" performance. In fact, I've really got to hand it to Tyson--he makes an aria from an early classical opera completely work as a "pop" song. I very much like his voice and his interpretation, and I imagine that Gluck, always a trendsetter, would very much approve!
if i had arecording of me i would put it on youtube. and i just might make one because of you. thank you for the incentive. i am sure i will not let you down with my vocal talent
this is terrible. i am singing this for my audition a curtis institute of music next month and i want to throw up right now. and trinichoir, it sounds nothing like josh groban. it looks like a bad audition from american idol
you don't need to be so brash, especially since this is just a high school student singing at his high school concert. besides, it doesn't sound bad at all. you should put your audition on Youtube so we can see just how terrible your voice sounds.
I have to agree with farmerjohn2689. Bashing people for their lack of knowledge of singing is not very professional (that goes for everybody who did it here; I'm not singling you out). People have to be corrected in order to improve their performance.
Don't take your knowledge of classical singing for granted! Instead of tearing someone down every time you think a performance is horrible, try to give them a helpful, constructive critique to improve their next performance.
uuumm this is an insult to classically trained ppl everywhere, bad breathing, phrases not carried out well, dynamics not followed, Italian not so hot, High note sang in FALSETTO!OMG need I say more! You tried a josh Groban Special however he ALONE can pull it off!
uuumm this is not a "classically trained" person--it is a young boy singing at his high school concert. try not to have a heart attack, ok? we're not all music nerds here (who the hell is Josh Groban??)
Not a bad job. As a voice student I also notice your e's in Italian are Americanized. Try to make them more like an e in bet, other than that, pretty decent diction.
Voice quality, it's good! I feel as though it may be on the breathy side, try to let the breath spin more on the higher notes. Also, raise the soft palette on high notes. You'll see you have a lot more room in your mouth for vowel formation for a more pure, fuller sound. Best wishes on your music studies! sorry if this was negative
I'd be VERY careful who you call an idiot. I'm still learning & I KNOW I am prone to make mistakes. I'm not a professional yet, NOR am I perfect. I don't intend on changing my major—EVER. I've had enough experience to be able to hear inconsistencies in the voice because I've had similar problems in the past. I wasn't intending on being negative, I gave a CONSTRUCTIVE critique based on my experience.
Grow up, stop making stupid unnecessary comments & stop acting like you're a know-it-all!
I completely agree with you, Sing4Him714, and I actually drew those conclusions without reading these comments. ohjustjake, maybe you need to to work on your own vocal speculation.
there are a new tipe of singers no lirics but they sing liric music (like this boy)like Boltton he had a cd of opera arias and he is not a opera singer , but this boy have a beautifull voice if he wants wil be a student of singer , congratulations TYSON

not a bad voice, just a little more power behind it, rounder vowels, and a lower key would have really improved the performance. not bad.

you're an idiot.
you basically have no idea what you're talking about. Most of your vocal speculation is incorrect.
Do yourself and everyone else in the music field a favor and change your major.

Nice! My personal try for a translation of the Italian text:
Oh sweet object longed for by my passion,
I breathe at last the air you breathe.
Wherever I turn my sight,
Love paints for me
Your delightful features;
My mind fancies
The happiest of hopes,
And with the passion that thus fills my bosom,
I seek you, I call you, I sigh and sigh!
