  • this was awesome. i was confused a little at first... but i paused the video to catch up to you and finished this beautiful hat watching a movie !! : ) Thank you so very much Teresa! And you make the 'magic circle' easy peasy!

  • Hi there

thank you so much for this awesome lesson. this is my first Crochet.

  • Hello Teresa! i absolutley love all your videos i was wondering, is it possible to use this pattern to do a beret? is adorable! XOXO

  • Hey Teresa I love all your videos. You have taught me how to crochet beautiful things for daughter and family... I think you absolutely have the BEST tutorial videos on you tube ... I wanna make a hat for a friends daughter out of state how would I be able to make it fit her head with out actually being able to measure it as I go which is what I do with my daughter ... Thank you

  • Hello Teresa - I finished this hat pattern and added one of your beautiful flowers to it, however I was wondering if I could have the stitch pattern for a year old baby - as well as the pattern for a child (not a toddler) - Thank you SO much - the hat is GORGEOUS!!!

  • I've been watching manny of your videos n want to thank u for everything you teach on YouTube .also I was wondering if u can do a video with a baby boy crochet sweater patter something simple if it is possible I would appreciate it so much thank you

  • Great video instruction. I made it and it turned out great. I used to crochet a lot but quit because of pain in my hands. I searched the internet looking for crochet hooks like you used. Just came back and watched again and noticed for the first time that you are sliding the hook into the handle. First of all, does it help with hand pain and second, where can I find one? thank you

  • Hello teresa

thank you for teaching me how to make things. i would like to know if you have a video how to put my grand daughters name and b-day on a blanket THANK YOU DARLENE

  • @darleneaversa I do have a tutorial showing how to make the embroidery chain, which would work well for names.

  • very nice...thankyou.. I made it in rainbow dyed wool tonight...cant wait to work on some of your other projects.

  • Dear Teresa,

Would you be so kind to send me the instructions for adult size. I love your videos thanks so much for sharing.

  • thanks tjw1963

  • hello, I am a biggener so do you have a video or instructions for first time? thank you

  • @erodas71 I have a playlist with the beginner crochet stitches that I will send to you. Practice the basic stitches and that will help with the project tutorials.

  • I dont' know how to do the magic loop..How many chains could i do...?? thanks soo much...i luv your work!!!

  • @virgoallday1 You can make a chain 3 or a chain 4

  • Hi Teresa thank you so much, I can say, like so many others, that you have taught me how to crochet! Over the last few months I have made this hat twice, once small for my toddler girl and everybody loved it so much I had to make the adult version as well for my mum, the yarns are very different so they give a very different hat! Your explanations are so clear it's a dream to follow. Thanks

  • @glenmur123 How did you make it for a larger head?

  • @Zawjatulmo Hi, very simply I went to Teresa's blog and the written instructions are in her archives. Look in November 2010, the title is ' How to make the Darling Crochet Shell cap' , hope you find it.

  • This is awesome, Teresa! You have taught me to crochet and see what I'm making after only a couple weeks of following your video's! My daughter loves the cap.

Your video's are amazing, easy to follow unlike all others. Please keep it up, you're a crochet legend.

What I wanted to ask you, is if it would be possible to have a complete index of ALL your video's. I found a video index on your blog, but it doesn't include all video's, and it's difficult to find all your work.

    Becky, Holland

  • @Lynnora1983 You can visit my main channel here on YouTube to find all my videos

  • I am a newbie at crocheting saw this and thought it was adorable.....watched the clip about 30 times .....started 5 different times trying to make it big enough for my 8 year old grand daughter....decided to give in and ask if you would please send me a pattern for an adult...think if I can compare it to your directions here I can maybe make something that fits her. I am new to this You Tube thing and hope I am not being pushy asking for help. Thanks so much Do I post my email address ?

  • I would also love to have the pattern for adult.

  • @tjw1963 how many did you chain in the first part off the magic loop? the video jumped and it looked like it was more than one chain.....just want to make sure! :0)

  • First of all I want to say thank you for your videos. I have a couple things already. I would love to make this hat for my sister and was wojdering if you can send me the adult pattern? Thank you so much!

  • @MelFlo08 The Darling larger size is on the way.

  • @tjw1963

I have learned so much from your videos. I used to only know how to make a granny square..lol..I would very much like to know if you could send me the pattern of this for an adult also..Thanks so much for what you do for us..

  • I do love your work and have made a few things that you show us... what amazes me most about this video is the fact that you are using wool made out of recycled bottles.. or it at least looks like that is what it says... I have never heard of that and I think it is amazing... gonna make this hat tonight!! Thankyou x

  • thank for sharing wtih wonderfull video, i did till round eight, can't wait to finish this,

its 1:01 am , going to finish this tomorrow, thanks again,

  • I made this hat but it was too small for my daughter! she is 6 yrs old. I was wondering how much i need to add? do you have a pattern for a bigger child?

  • What's the size for a 18 years old girl? Love your video, thank you so much. I can't wait to try it out. I have been wanting to learn this.

  • @floral123 You would need a head size but an 18 year old is most likely going to be an adult size head of 21-24 inches around.

  • Could you please send me the adult sized version also? I love this pattern

Fantastic videos I have learnt so much!

  • @JDinAU The cap has been sent.

  • Hi Teresa, would you be able to send it to my updated email address? nicolelim1@yahoo.com

    I would really appreciate it!

  • Hi Teresa!! You are such an inspiration! Thank you so much for taking the time to post your tutorials and helping us make such beautiful pieces. I would love to make this in an adult size. Could you please help? Again, thank you!

  • @kaleyla1 I do have an adult size version with this cap. I will send you the link.

  • Thanks so much for your videos. I used them all to learn to crochet! I just made my first hat. I am only making toddler and infant hats and I know that I can measure the circumference to fit, but I don't understand how to change the pattern to size. I'd love to make this hat for an infant (13-14' circumference). How would I do that?

  • @mbok1000 I think it is more for infants. I made it for my son, He's 3 and it fit my 1 year old girl.. best of luck =]

  • Hi Teresa. This hat is beautiful! I am new to crochet, so I'm not exactly sure how to make the hat smaller. I have a 5 month old daughter, who I would LOVE to make this hat for! I also have a cousin due with a little girl next month, who I would like to make this for as well. I saw in a post above that you said to simply use a smaller hook. How much smaller should the hook be? I would very much appreciate your help. Thank you!

  • Teresa, there are no words to match my gratitude...What you are doing is a generous gift to all of us! I will never find the right words to thank you. Here is a baby hat and booties I made thanks to your tutorial. I would have never been able to do these things by myself. Again, Thank you!

  • Teresa, thank you so much for your tutorial. I know how to crochet, but never crochet a hat. I got it done in no time and it's adorable. Now I need to find out how to crochet 'ears' on the beanie to make it look like a 'bear hat'. Thanks again. You are terrific

  • Please can you send me the adult version- you're hat is beautiful

  • @21rockdale The link for the adult version is on the way.

  • thank you so much, i loved this, just what I was looking for and you are an amazing teacher, thank you for taking the time, the books are so confusing to me!

  • @patti2082 I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • You are the greatest teacher ever. I watched this video and it may have taken me about 2 hours but I made this hat tonight. I am sooo proud of myself and it is absolutely adorable! Thanks a million. Now to find a cute flower... hum... Back to your video library I go. Oh yeah... can you send me or direct me to the adult version for this?

  • @nappychik I will send you the link for the Crochet Adult Darling hat.

  • I love this pattern very much but it's small, is there any way to make it bigger?

  • @naovampire I sent you the adult version.

  • @tjw1963 Thank :)

  • @tjw1963 Thank you! :)

  • @Cole: "Knitting is not cool!!" ??? Really? Firstly, this is crochet. Secondly, if it isn't cool enough for you, why did you waste your time in commenting?

Teresa, you are the BEST teacher ever! Thank you for making these tutorials and always answering our questions! :)

  • I love your videos Teresa, Can you help me please? I keep getting stuck on the part where you join to the shell, I dont know where to insert the hook , in the first hdc of the shell or second hdc?

  • First of all this is a crochet video so that Cole person is lame. Second, crocheting and knitting are actually making a pretty big comeback with high school kids and college kids. I actually feel bad for him/her for being so judgemental of someone/something they know nothing about!!! Their mother would be sad too!!

**I just made this hat the other day and it is soooo cute! I always reference people who ask me to teach them to crochet, to your videos instead!! Thank you!

  • @sbrisby25 I thankful for your support and sharing your thoughts.

  • hi dear.. I made it as the same size.. but now I have to do one for me.. how can I increase the round??

  • @majnoonatnet You can use a larger crochet hook to increase size or you can do another repeat round of the increase round.

  • KNITTING IS NOT COOL!!!!! IF YOU LIKE KNITTING YOU'RE PROBABLY OLD! SO JUST BUY A CAT!! GEEZ

  • @colewest25 How would you feel if someone was talking disrespectful like you are, to your mother?

  • @tjw1963 well my mom passed away just over a year ago, so i would hope no one would disrespect her. the fact you bring her up is one of the many reasons i did not vote for you. for the sake of this "competition," i hope you are not the winner.

  • @colewest25 You don't know me! Looks like your cory spam was an epic fail!

  • @colewest25 eh its crochet div. if you cant say anything nice, say nothing at all. no one asked you to look at the video weirdo

  • @colewest25 This is crocheting, not knitting and it's a lot more useful a skill than being able to pull off that sniper glitch in Call of Duty/your game of choice that you're so proud of.

  • Love it very much!!! Teresa I thank you so much for you video tut's they are excellent. I've learn so much from your step by step lessons. For a teenager, will changing the size of the hook will do or the number of stitches change? Thank you.

  • I am not having success with the magic circle, so would I chain this to begin? if I can?

  • @TheKara1983 Yes, work a chain 3 or 4 and then join.

  • @tjw1963 I have one more question do I join or keep going like it does

  • Hi Teresa, how i can increase the size for an adult cap? thanks for all your videos, I just finish a blanket in zigzag that i learned to do just looking yours videos..... sorry for my english, my main lenguage is spanish.

  • I REALLY LIKE YOUR VIDEOS, THEY ARE EXCELENT.. I AM BEGINER WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR ME TO START WITH?? AND WHAT CAN I CROCHET WITH THAT.. IS THERE A BEANIE CAP FOR ADULTS THAT I CAN DO?? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP..

  • @nnere71 I do have a couple of adult size caps that will work great for a beginner. If you are not familiar with the crochet stitches, I suggest that you practice with the basic stitches first before you try a project. I will send you the playlist.

  • @tjw1963 is this hat not for adult??...i am trying to stitch a hat for my mom in law and i am follow this instruction and the number of stitches and increases but in round 4 my stitching seems to be a small one.... help me please

  • @davidmaya1984 It is a toddler youth size. I recently posted a similar version of this hat for an adult. It is called Darling Crochet Hat.

  • hi teresa, i want to make a variation of this hat for my 3 year old neice, with a shell made with 5 double crochets.( i think you made an adult hat using 5 dc) she has a slightly bigger head than other 3 yr olds, 20 inches. i was wondering what the multiple should be and when i should increase? also for the brim i want it to be a shell row in a similar shade to the body of the hat and i'll sew a flower to pretty it up more.

    can you help me out?

    thanks!

  • I made first cap for my baby thanks to you tjw1963! Thank you very much for posting this video! Regards from Bosnia!

  • You go so fast. I dont understand what you mean by half double crotchet? Does that mean you wrap the yarn around the needle two times then pull it through? 2 half double? How do you know where to stick the needle back into the first round? I am beginer! :) I bet you knew that.

  • @techgirl1414 I will send you the playlist for the beginner crochet stitches. It is best to become familiar with the basic stitches first before you try out a pattern.

  • How can I increase the size at row 13 ?Do I have to start over? Thanks Knittin66

  • I just finished this hat for my little one. I wanted something unique and not from a store. My mother in law used to crochet and be very helpful, like yourself, but has since lost her vision. Thank you for the videos and tutorials on stitches as it's helped so much - now onto the scarf :)

  • @3peenuts You are welcome.

  • Hi teresa i am a beginner and i alredy did this project thks a lot .. i would like to know if you can show us how to do a similar hat but in diferent layers of colors thks in advance.

  • @marlenegarza1 I will keep changing colors in mind.

  • I am just a beginner....

this looks really hard! But I definatley want to try it!

  • @echo8787 You can keep it in mind for a future project after you have practiced some of the basic stitches.

  • awesome I learned a new stich! You know I have never read a patter yet I have made 100's of hats! I think your videos are by far the best to follow along with!!!

  • @amandamcmom Thank you, I appreciate the comment.

  • espectacular

  • about what age does this fit?

  • @ajbecdoze The head size is posted at timecode 00:05 in the video. You will have more of an accurate fit with head size.

  • @emelydr Thank you. :)

  • I saw this little darling hat in your fb page wherein some of your fans shared and I was jealous! Really precious! What if I want to make it adult size? Can I just simply add increase on each round?

  • I just wanted to know if you are naturally ambidextrous, or did you have to teach yourself to crochet left handed? I want to learn to crochet left handed, but I am having a very difficult time just trying to chain. I don't know whether to give it up or not!

  • @pattyarnall I do not crochet left handed. The videos are done with special effects.

  • I finally got it. So stinking excited. Now I want it in a newborn size! I deliver my 5th in May and want to make this for her.

  • Im so a beginner and watched all the beginning stich videos but this one go's so fast. I love when you show a slow motion. I want to make this so bad but keep messing up. Your video's are phenominal, so Im sure it's the user (me) :0 Im not giving up though, your awesome for posting all of these

  • @4campbellkidz You may want to try the pause and rewind so you can crochet at your speed. Keep practicing and you will get it.

  • I love this cap it is so cute but i was wondering if there was a way to add a brim i am new to crochet and not sure how thks i love all your videos they have made crocheting so much easier to learn

  • Love the hat and the use of Caron Simply Soft yarn which is made from recycled plastic bottles. I have a cache of this yarn and the colors are gorgeous.

  • I just started crocheting about a 2 weeks ago and I am totally hook. I was able to make this hat and my daughter loves it. She wore all day in pre-school today and two of her friends want one...Guess I'll get more practice at it. hahaha I have to say you have taught me so much, it is very easy to follow your videos.

  • Thank you, I appreciate the comment.

  • Really love ur videos I made this hat for my daughter and she loves it.

  • I absolutely love your videos. How could I adapt the stitch count for a woman's head?

    Thank you!

  • Can I use this same count for the hat with the brim for a youth size?

  • Do you know of any patterns for a Crocheted Floppy hat?

  • I just made this hat today and it is soooo cute on my daughter! Thank you for the great videos!

  • You are welcome.

  • I love you videos teresa, I LIKE YOU BLOG

  • Thank you, I appreciate the comment.

  • How many chain stitches did you do in the magic loop to start off the first round? I couldn't quite tell from the edit. Thank you so much for all your videos and help.

  • The link for the written instructions is posted in the "More Info".

  • I love you, Teresa! You always give me something new to make. I'm visiting home in just over a week and wanted to let each of my nieces pick out a yarn and make them hats...I think this hat will be a good one! I think I'll have to adjust the size though...they've all got big heads like their Aunt!

  • Have fun making your caps.

  • Your video's are so helpful! I send everyone to you for any crochet needs!! You are so awesome for posting these!

  • Thank you. I appreciate the comment.

  • Thank you for this video. You are tru;y awesome for posting these tutorials. I like the pattern for an adult. How many 1/2 dbl stitches do I need before I start making the shells? My head around is 25 inches or from ear to ear its 16.5 inches. What would you recommend. Thank you again.

  • I am going to work through an adult size pattern and post it on my crochet blog.

  • i appreciate all your videos and as always Thank You for sharing.

  • You are welcome.

  • the pattern is good different then just plain single or double crochet around.

also wanted to ask you about granny squares, cause i sometime make blankes and send to hospitals. When people talk about 12" blankes or whatever size it may be is it from corner to corner or from side to side ??

  • I have always measured from side to side.

  • i love all your videos

i really appreciate the effort you're doing

    thank you

  • em can u plz make a video of how to make a mouse hat like a normal crochet hat but wioth mouse ears ty ty i really appreciate it

  • will this fit a 12 month old, granddaughter is not in same city, so am not certain if this would be way tooo big or about right for this winter.

  • It will fit an 18" head so you would need the size of your granddaughters head. The size of a child's head can vary a lot at the same age group. You will get the best results by measuring.

  • Tell me about it I just measured my 10 month olds head and it is 18 inches lol. Have any tips how to increase the size?

  • The easiest way is to use a larger crochet hook.

  • thank you
