Great video instruction. I made it and it turned out great. I used to crochet a lot but quit because of pain in my hands. I searched the internet looking for crochet hooks like you used. I am only making toddler and infant hats and I know that I can measure the circumference to fit, but I don't understand how to change the pattern to size. @nnere71 I do have a couple of adult size caps that will work great for a beginner. If you are not familiar with the crochet stitches, I suggest that you practice with the basic stitches first before you try a project. I will send you the playlist.

hi teresa, i want to make a variation of this hat for my 3 year old neice, with a shell made with 5 double crochets.( i think you made an adult hat using 5 dc) she has a slightly bigger head than other 3 yr olds, 20 inches. i was wondering what the multiple should be and when i should increase? also for the brim i want it to be a shell row in a similar shade to the body of the hat and i'll sew a flower to pretty it up more.

You go so fast. I dont understand what you mean by half double crotchet? Does that mean you wrap the yarn around the needle two times then pull it through? 2 half double? How do you know where to stick the needle back into the first round? I am beginer! :) I bet you knew that.

It will fit an 18" head so you would need the size of your granddaughters head. The size of a child's head can vary a lot at the same age group. You will get the best results by measuring.
