@gendaiyawara I said that to make a point. Doesn't matter if Jigoro's art was influenced by more than one system. If you have studied formally in a Koryu or any Japanese martial art. I'm surprised that you are focusing so much on the techniques of the art rather than the philosophy that those techniques express. Which is what makes up an art in Japanese martial art. Techniques are just expressions of the philosophy... And Aikido's philosophy makes it its own art.
@BlackShinobiShozoku you are being pedantic. your last statement is silly. it is like saying "you're not looking at water. water is watery. (and so is what I'm looking at)".
@kenfo0 I guarantee you that I am more knowledgeable on this topic than you are.
You need to understand that Aikido is an art with an entirely different approach than Daito Ryu.
That's why the founder of Aikido no longer calls itself Aikijujutsu or Daito Ryu. Aikido places more emphasis on philosophy of Aiki rather than the combative application. Although you might find some Aikido dojo that are emphasizing self defense. -cont
These modern or gendai(現代) schools were developed during more peaceful times of Japan. That is why they took time to explore these concepts a lot deeper. While not being so much combat concerned. But don't get me wrong... they are still good combat systems when they are taught in such a way.

@gendaiyawara He is not kind of right.
Just like Judo is not Tenjin Shin'yo-ryu Jujutsu. It is Judo.

Great demo. A lot of goofs talk about aikido not being for the "real world". It is an excellent tool when properly applied.

@kenfo0 Too bad this isn't aikido.

@kenfo0 Hey baby, do you got the champagne for tonight? I love you so much, and I can't wait to celebrate our anniversary honey.

@kenfo0 Hes still correct.
It's not Aikido.
The principles of aiki can be seen in most traditional Japanese arts.(That I know of)
Aikido focuses more on the philosophy of Aiki.

Actually if you want to be technical you calling this Aikido is like saying
Humans are chimpanzee's because they have close blood relations.

@kenfo0
That is why it became Aiki-"do"( 合気"道")
Same with Judo(柔"道")
Which places emphasis on the concept of "ju"

@kenfo0
So in essence you're seeing "Aiki"
But you're not seeing "Aikido" which is an art of its own.
