Maya is not the adult version of Hikari, she's the adult version of Shinji.

There are no parallels between Hikari and Maya other than their gender. Shinji and Maya on the other hand...

Without getting into Shinji's feminine or homosexual tendencies, they're both pacifists, have a similar character design, seem to be seeking approval, Kaji hits on them in succession (hint), and fulfill the same roll in the group. Which was Shinji, Toji and Kensuke, btw, not Hikari, as she was Asuka's friend.

@jhfjhflhbjhk How is Shinji homosexual? He's bisexual if mostly leaning towards girls or falling under the "Even the guys want him" effect, we see him showing attraction to three hot females, but never blushing or thinking in that way about boys or men. If he was gay, he'd have lusted after Kaji whom he got along with very well. I don't think the kids are meant to parallel the technicians, tough, the latter are probably just meant to be "mostly normal people reacting to stuff"

Why do actors sometimes use fake names in the credits?

you would have to ask them, but I *think* it has something to do with labor union rules, or to get around exclusive contracts with other companies....anime voice actors don't belong to the screen actors guild, and are thus all technically scabs; it's very much "Fringe work" done for low pay, and purely for the excitement of being a minor celebrity of a sort. They really believe in what they're doing.

@ReVolutionOfEva They aren't all minor celebrities though. Choji from Naruto being the example. His voice is done by Robbie Rist who did have film and television experience as Cousin Oliver on Brady Bunch and Michelangelo in TMNT Movies 1-3.

I must admit, the scene in End of Eva when Seele is attacking is one of my favorite moments in all of Anime. I can't grade him, too little lines. I can't say anything about Hyuga, but I am glad he tried to mimic the Japanese actor. WHERE THE HECK IS THE 5:34 SHOT FROM!? I didn't notice that the adults are grown children because all the adults in my life are too similar to the technicians.

in some episodes, they occasionally use some of the other random technicians from Nerv HQ (they have no speaking lines) just to vary up the visual profile of people standing around
