Sounds like welding machine bases on 4 X 8 foot x 1-1/4 steel plate.
I did that alll day long for years, one after another, after another.
I have done as much as 6 hours NON STOP making continuous 8 foot welds after another, after another. Took lunch and finished the day doing the same thing.
