Nice, I enjoy doing this too, but I also wait until I'm on the way to the abandon ship. I can't stand those thing that grab you and pull you into the acid. But why is this area callled gauntlet? I see the name gaunlet used for a lot of areas by fans but I never knew why.

You have to master wall jump and have bombs to do this ...

I did it without having the high jump boots lol. It took me awhile but I finally got it. Those angles are tough to wall jump starting from the bottom.

@KaiserVadin oh, dude, i know what he's talking about, i can't remember completely, but i think you have to have less that 50 energy or less with no reserve tanks, and i'm not sure after this.... but you either just lay a power bomb, and hold the button down.... or you switch off all of your beams and lay a powerbomb while holding it.

Wall jump is very easy B)

theres an easier way to do this, but not as early. when you have the speed boost you can run and jump before you reach your ship(coming from the right) and use the power bomb to easilly open it up.

the whole point of doing it this way is that you can do it right at the beggining of the game.

Jump at the wall, push in the opposite direction, when Samus changes to the latch on animation push the jump button. Pretty simple dont you think.

Sounds simple. I'll have to see how simple it is when I try it myself in a minute here. :P I kept trying to constantly push the jump button. thanks for the help.
