And I don't think the heart of song is implying that being a wife and mother matters, that's a given, but rather the seemingly trivial tasks that mothers do, like picking up toys and running errands are important. This song is SO condescending & offensive to women/mothers. Being a mother is one of THE most important and meaningful callings in life. To suggest that it's all mundane, or that women and mothers don't already KNOW/ REALIZE that motherhood and housewifery is significant (especially to God) is just so condescending! @didntfightIt it's awesome that you hold motherhood in high esteem. i think this song is to encourage mothers who feel that because they don't make a paycheck or don't feel "productive" (probably because they're so tired all the time!) or because a lot of times they can't volunteer or help others outside of the family (esp. with a newborn), that they aren't contributing, even though raising a child right is HUGE. i know for a fact that some moms do feel this way.

This is by far the best way to start my morning. Anytime I feel lazy at work, this reminds me to do my best. Anytime I get frustrated over trivial matters with my family, this reminds me to treat them well. This is definitely a song to listen to throughout life. Do everything in His honor. This song is SO condescending & offensive to women/mothers. Being a mother is one of THE most important and meaningful callings in life. To suggest that it's all mundane, or that women and mothers don't already KNOW/ REALIZE that motherhood and housewifery is significant (especially to God) is just so condescending! Oh, and why do we need to put 'a baby on our hips & color on our lips' before walking out the door? So we're supposed to be mommy AND be a supermodel at the same time? W/e. Stupid.

@didntfightIt I don't think he meant it like that...I stayed home w/ my kids for 8 years and have had to go back to work this year. And before I leave the house, I pick up, put on make-up, grab my kids and head out the door. It's not mundane. It's life. Just like the song says. And he's saying it doesn't matter how the world sees your place in life, God sees them all the same-as long as we're doing all we do for Him.

@didntfightIt it's awesome that you hold motherhood in high esteem. i think this song is to encourage mothers who feel that because they don't make a paycheck or don't feel "productive" (probably because they're so tired all the time!) or because a lot of times they can't volunteer or help others outside of the family (esp. with a newborn), that they aren't contributing, even though raising a child right is HUGE. i know for a fact that some moms do feel this way.

I've had a really hard time at school. I'm the "new kid" & I'm often sitting by myself or just not talking. I was having a really hard time thinking that I just wasn't important enough for people to talk with. But then one day, this song came on the radio as I was going to school. That really hit me. & now school is getting SO much better& I come home a happier person. Just because I was reminded that no matter what I'm doing, I'm doing it for Christ. :)
