I've been thinking about doing this for extra money, because they are slowly taking away my overtime at work. But I really need to get over my fear of needles.
For every 'tard here saying to DONATE their fluids, why? the collection centers where I live are all FOR-PROFIT businesses. Why should I give them my plasma that they then sell for $600-$800? If it's red cross and they're donating it, fine. But otherwise, why help a business that is profiteering?
@davie19hippo No, idiot. It's 20 bucks per visit. You're allowed to donate twice a week, and different centers have varying numbers on what they pay you. You can earn up to $300 a month just to sit in a chair for an hour per visit.
cool thanks because i would hate to get hiv for like $40 well now im going to sell my plasma as much as i can yea there are no jobs in michigan so that will help out alot
I live in Eugene, Oregon and its $25 for the first donation and $30 at your 2nd for the week. Mine donation takes about an hour because of how much plasma they can take. They base it off your weight and how much nutrients they can take out at a single time without causing harm...good easy money...actually donated today :D
when its your first time donating, it can take a while because...Ill use my local center here for an example, they have you read info about what could disqualify you from donating (sex history, tattoos, piercing questions etc) then you have to have a physical with a doctor to make sure everything is right and you won't die or pass out or arent allergic to the iodines and stuff...basically like an orientation...but once you get that first and even the 2nd, its smooth sailing from there
It's really quite a nice thing to do, not only because plasma is a finite resource but also because of the financial perks. I'm a college student, and the $25 that I get at each donation comes in quite useful. I mean, who wouldn't like an extra $50/week? Anyway, all I have to do is sit in a comfortable chair and read a magazine or listen to music or even do my homework... then about an hour later I'm done. I recommend plasma donation for anyone who is healthy and needs a bit of cash.
Yes... like anything, it must be done in moderation. But the twice-weekly donation schedule has been proven safe and in the two years of donating, I've never had any problems.
Its like my 20th time donating. ive gotten to around like 700 dollars since. i get it done here in mcallen, tx. you get 45 first time and 55 second time a week. so comes in handy since gas prices are up. i recommend it for people that dont mind needles. its really not that bad. If you do donate, make sure you drink alot of water within 12 hours of donation time and lay off any fatty lipid foods. They wont take you in. see my video on my page for a realtime footage i took of myself.
Damn, 45 and 55. We get 25 and 45 here in Laredo :(
In response to the video, it says it takes about 3 hours the first time but for me it took 5 and a half hours so it's best not to plan anything afterward, just in case.
ha, i do it in san marcos, tx... base is 15 then you get bonuses. i got 45 bucks today. the mininum is probably 15, the average is probably 20-25 the most would be around 50. either way, it's easy money.
I did it today and it hurt like hell, I guess because I have small veins. My friend that was with me said his didnt hurt at all. To top it off I got sick when I was doing it and thought I was going to pass out!! I dont know if I will do this again.
You have to eat a good-sized meal within 3 hours of donating plasma, and drink lots of water, before donating, or else you WILL feel like you are going to pass out. I know. I had that happen to me once, too. I have been donating plasma for more than 3 years now.
