i bought this, as a 14 year old The Damned & Killing Joke fan, obviously never told my mates about this one....!
But 28 years on, they really were a classic pop group, their releases got stronger & stronger, & the final one here is for me, their best. It has a great beat & really 'pounds along.....happy, happy days.
Seeing the Convertible in this song - I have a Fiat X1/9 and a 124 Spider 2000 convertible that I enjoy listening to Haircut in several evenings a week and just cruise. Brings back memories. I agree with those who ask was it an easier time in 1982? In 1982 you did not have cell phones to bother with, no internet, no instant access to anything even stores were not open 24hrs. The cable news networks were not as stimulating then as they are today. Thats Why I get out. Take me back to 1982!
My friend and I both had a great summer in 1982 listening to Haircut 100. I still have this album in rotation every summer along with Roxy Music Avalon and Matt Bianco's second album. Hey Brian do you remember?
I found the 7" online a while ago and bought it because it included a fold out poster and lyrics! I can type them up here tomorrow for your reading pleasure.
The best song they ever did. This was their last single. Was Nick Heyward telling the rest of the band and the record company that he'd had enough in the lyrics of this song....the band split shortly afterwards. It was a shame - they were just making it big in the USA at the time with "Love plus one"....)o;
I think we all look back with stress free eye's. I seem to remember being worried about the Falklands war and the pending Nuclear War - whatever happend to that ;-)
Stjohns ....Like yourself ...I to have great memories of SUMMER 1982 .....1984 wasnt too bad either!.....A Long hot summer ...we don't seem to get them now ....
They filmed this video in my village of Lurgashall in West Sussex. Me and my mate are are in the video sittig behind them during the pub scene and you can see our 10 year old suede heads!! Ihaven't seen this in bloody years!! Brilliant! Halcion days indeed!!
Yes Skinner yours and DB's brush-heads and our fat pub labrador Kari-nipping into the stables after the horse had been shoed. Probably looking for another packet of crisps to eat. Even Ted's getting in on the act-shutting the pub door.
I was a massive Haircut fan, then followad Nick's career and have near evereythings he's brought out. H100 were so refreshingly different, with the catchiest tunes. Met Nick a few times in Liverpool/Manchester (when he'd put some of us on the guest list) and he's a really sound fella. Where's my arran jumper?!

Kensit must have been 13 in 1982, and Heyward about 20 - that seem odd!?
