Some wieghs on how many miles the engine has but for the most part it depends on how much boost you are running on. usually 10 psi is the MAX you want to go for stock internals to be reliable. If you have a good tune and do not abuse the motor too much it will last a very long time.

because i have a crx i spent 500 bucks on, a t3 and srt4 intercooler that i traded an old tranny for, some spare 390's from a 1g dsm, a free tune with turboedit.. in the end its going to cost me about 300 bucks to double the power of this crx. so why not. if you dont think 200whp in a 2100lb car is fun, there is something wrong with you :)

hp pushed through the motor? that was stupid. the engine MAKES the hp at the FLYWHEEL which is transfered to the tranny where it is put to the ground. psi does matter because if the boost is to high, were as in the vacuum pressure in the intake manifold, the motor will begin to knock and as he did state the rods will snap, manily because there are not able to keep up with the mass volume of air packed into the motor from the turbo

yo dude if ur going all motor on the d16. boost it, they can handle it and you wont get much out of a non blown d16. if your going all motor take a type r. you can greddy a d16 for 2 grand.
VTEC DOES make more power. under 4500 RPM the rocker arms operate on the lower profile cam lobes which open and close the intake valves. above 4500 rpm, the ecu activates a hydraulic lever which locks a THIRD rocker arm into sychronizing action with the other rocker arms, which rides on a higher profile cam lobe, which in-turn holds the intake valve open longer, to allow for more air to be packed into the combustion chamber. a greater volume/density of air when ignited creates more power.
it is vtec its a y8 block made in 96 and it has vtec. vted isnt power either its just fuel economy and sound. all the selonoid does is cocks the cam to retard the spark total advance for better gas mileage, resulting in that premature boom which comes out as a loud rumble. yes vtec motors have more power but its because of the higher compression of their head to piston tdc
No, he's right. VTEC uses locking pins that react when the oil pressure gets high enough, it causes the selonoid to do what he just said. More power is made with less gas involved.
thats why its called a sleeper. even though u think its easy to leave it stock, you would be giving up alot of performance in handleing and braking etc.
not if you get adjustable coilovers and adjust them to stock height. then for the autocross weekends, lower that beast down. also, you could put GSR brakes on it and use integra steelies/14"hubcaps to make it stop pretty nicely while still looking stock.

and chip my ecu
and for more reliability @ higher psi:

psi doesnt matter its hp and airflow pushed throught the motor. the rods snap at 240 wheel if lucky. i wouldnt run more than 220 on stock rods

WOW... d16 turbo stock set up thats crazy.. y0.. aren't you suppose to fix up the internals pass 5psi? but anyways tyte though. not planning on turbo but N/A d16 don't think I'll ever go fast as you but heys mid 14s is all I need and want.. props to your ride y0.. forever imports and keep the d16 motors alive.. and have faith.=)

yo dude if ur going all motor on the d16. boost it, they can handle it and you wont get much out of a non blown d16. if your going all motor take a type r. you can greddy a d16 for 2 grand.

no vtec = no power and no sound. Put a b16a with turbo a 9 psi and then you will have a real honda bomb.

d16y8 has vtec...you just cant really hear it w/single cam motors. you have to admit this thing hauls ass for a heavy car w/a sohc

VTEC DOES make more power. under 4500 RPM the rocker arms operate on the lower profile cam lobes which open and close the intake valves. above 4500 rpm, the ecu activates a hydraulic lever which locks a THIRD rocker arm into sychronizing action with the other rocker arms, which rides on a higher profile cam lobe, which in-turn holds the intake valve open longer, to allow for more air to be packed into the combustion chamber. a greater volume/density of air when ignited creates more power.

it is vtec its a y8 block made in 96 and it has vtec. vted isnt power either its just fuel economy and sound. all the selonoid does is cocks the cam to retard the spark total advance for better gas mileage, resulting in that premature boom which comes out as a loud rumble. yes vtec motors have more power but its because of the higher compression of their head to piston tdc

No, he's right. VTEC uses locking pins that react when the oil pressure gets high enough, it causes the selonoid to do what he just said. More power is made with less gas involved.

thats why its called a sleeper. even though u think its easy to leave it stock, you would be giving up alot of performance in handleing and braking etc.

not if you get adjustable coilovers and adjust them to stock height. then for the autocross weekends, lower that beast down. also, you could put GSR brakes on it and use integra steelies/14"hubcaps to make it stop pretty nicely while still looking stock.
