I was there at Lelystad 2010 and Roland (friendly as ever) gave me the opportunity to fly his 4th gen motion cockpit. Excellent motion, simply the best home-made has to offer!
@FSXPiilots: FS calculates the forces on the airplane, and moves the platform to replicate those forces. I also added some extra cues, based on the "wheels on ground" bit.
i think a good idea to add is the Free Track, where you can look around on the sim , but using your head, a cap,and some LED's and a cam (look up "free track" for a compleat understanding)
@dominodash21 : Actually I have tried trackIR in the motion cockpit. But it has a side effect: When the cockpit moves (ie due to turbulence) your head will move as well, and this creates an unwanted scenery view movement. Also when moving your head to look at the panel, the scenery will move as well. I did not like it im my setup.
The cockpit itself needs some work, but the motion seems spot on. Good work. Would love to see something like this for a full size airliner sim application.
@Rolandvanroy why didnt you guys use fsx and more high end computer. but nice sim anyways, its sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
Making this rig commercially would be tricky. It's a complicated system, and could give safety hazard when operated incorrectly. The market is too small for mass production. Best solution is to make the plans available for other home-builders., and this is what I've tried to do via my website. It may not be within everybody's reach, but there are a few builders in action right now trying to make something similar. All it takes is time and determination.
I want to buy one, where can I go?

@bas0704 : Ongeveer 500 Euro voor platform excl PC / monitors
Rolandvanroy 9 months ago
@Rolandvanroy en incl PC / monitors?

@bas0704
Ligt eraan wat voor PC je koopt. Ik gebruik een oude P4, maar de nieuwe dual core's zijn natuurlijk veel sneller.
15" / 17" LCD's zijn op Marktplaats voor 50 euro te krijgen

whats that thing called that the maker used to expand the screen size? Thanks
issueagent 1 year ago
It's called a fresnel lens. It is basically a large magnifying glass like the ones used as TV magnifiers. Mine came from an old rear projection TV
Rolandvanroy 1 year ago
Thanks! I gotta get one of these!
issueagent 1 year ago
One more thing, how much does the fresnel lens you bought cost?
issueagent 1 year ago
I did not buy it, I found it on the junkyard.
Check my website "visuals" pages for info where to buy fresnel lenses.

Oh I see. Well I spent the whole day out looking for one of these things but couldnt manage to find out. I will check out your website though. THanks
