@zisssssou Depuy put his fingers in Ferris' eyes, checked if the referee was watching, yanked his head back (exposing his face) and then put his fingers in his eyes again. Quinlan, Jennings and Corry didn't do that. Depuy is pure scum, as are the Stade Francais staff who spat and verbally abused the photographer who took the photo of Attoub and wrongly (photos tested by two sources and were judged to be genuine) claimed that he edited the photo.
i think it was more the intent than the act itself which deserves the ban....... instead of appealing to the ref ferris should of stood up and killed the little prick though
Sorry, but anyone found guilty of this crime should be banned from the game for life. Burger should never have been allowed anywhere near a rugby field after his thuggery last summer. Seems pretty odd that the only ones who defend this kind of lunacy are the French and the Springboks, the two dirtiest sides in world rugby!!
That's a shame...it's not an eye gouge at all, he just puts his hands on his face, he deserves to be punished because this kind of things should'nt exist anymore but this shitty irish adds it tons and that's the most awful...looks like football players -_-
a twit like you needs their EYES looked at, are you fucking blind r do you not see him sticking his hand in up into his eyes, french ppl never kow how to play by the rules anyway, cheating scum
Hey stupid rosbeafs! Stop crying!!! 2 years ago, Flannery kicked Julien Bonnaire in the head several times, until he bleed like hell... He just get 4 weeks of suspension for this...
oh my god that is sickening, the fact he went once, realised the ref wasnt looking then gouged again! the french make me sick, probably due to thier lack of washing but also thier dirty rugby tactics.
as a massive rugby fan i tink datz disgraceful itz a sad side 2 da game........6 months is nt long enough 2 stop dis happenin..........im sick of da french cheatin da irish...henry stops us goin 2 da world cup by a disgraceful handball nw dupuy tries pullin da eyes out of ferrises head!!! sickenin!
The ERC "decided the incident was the most serious for an offence of its type" !!! ??? !!! So basically the maximum ban for trying to gouge out a fellow players eyes is now set at only 6 months . . . disgusting.
au vu des images ,il n'y a pas de fourchettes.attention ,car avec des joueurs comme ca, on va ressembler au foot et ses tricheurs.donc, non pas de fautes, et limite, sanction pour simulation.
if he didnt do the second eye gauge he wudnt be gettin a lengthly ban...but since he did it twice he has to get about 3 months...pity for france aswell...he defo wud have started scrum half
Should of gone to spec savers! You, you should of gone to spec savers... Any attack around that area of the face is deemed an eye gouge bacause the chances of getting the eye is very likely.
alright, i dont know rugby much and i dont understand what eye gauging is about. you could have someones eye out surely? whats the point in it if someone could explain why they do it. cause its pretty ridiculous. there has been many cases in the past.. it seems like a normal thing for such a shocking thing..could it be compared to something like diving in football..or not
If you actually open your eyes in front of your screen, you'll notice that there is no eye gouge the first time and that Ferris fakes it in front of the ref to get Dupuy sent off. That is why Dupuy really gets pissed off and gives him one for real. Not gracious from either side, but at least Dupuy admits it in the press whereas Ferris plays the Angel. i think they're both ungracious (just like we all are, no??) :-))
Oh Dupuy is screwed, he didnt just gouge but went and did it a SECOND time, he'll get a year I think. Its too much pre thought required to do it twice.
Ok its bad but I would like to say that judgment and referees are often against us in decisions in rugby! so if dupuy is suspended, a lots of others players have to have the same sanction
yes in the rules of the IRB the minimun is 12 weeks and the max 156 weeks and yes it's a very bad movement but I don't think that he really deserves more than 12 weeks (I'm a French)
12weeks?? did you not see the video????? jennings got that for slapping someone. he desrves to go for a long time but sadly think he'll only get 12 weeks on appeal
But I ask you if it was an irish or british player doing this would you be shouting for his head? Your name calling shows me why a northern hemisphere rugby will never surpass the Southern Hemisphere. We pony up and roll with the punches, the British & Irish fans, players and coaches are intolerable in victory and ungracious in defeat.
It's true what they say i suppose the tallest tree's catch the most wind. You are also the stereotypical british & Irish fan with your childish insults. Where were people screaming for 23 weeks when Quinlan gouged someone? The same way everyone was asking for a one year ban for Burger?
Your a fucking hypocrite and your clealy mentally challenged.
Dumb fuck leer33, again you fail to defend your original point. You're (note the context) only interested in abusive comments. Are you still trying to defend eye gouging? I note the amount of thumbs down your (note the context) responses have received.
No problems, but you contradicted yourself again. You called me a "dumb fuck" then said I'm only interested in abusive comments. Who's the one flinging abusive comments?
My point is Dupuy should get 3-6 weeks. Can you honestly tell me thats the worst gouge you've ever seen? It was reckless but it wasn't the worst. Everyone here wants to make a example of Dupuy but rugby is his livelihood. You guys want to take away his livelihood for 23 weeks-3 years for a gouge that wasn't that severe. This is the same during the Lions. When BO'D Hit Rossouw high and late. If Bakkies did that there would be riots on the streets but since BO'D did it it was " good leadership".
It's the 1st time I've every witnessed a player gouging for a second time after he sees the ref run off after play. He's also off his feet as he attempts to get more pressure into Ferris's eyes. So yes it is one of the worst.
Dupuy will still be getting his salary while serving his ban, so will not loose anything financially. But that is not the issue.
For the good of the game eye gouging must be stopped. If that means banning a player for a year or more so be it.
It's not about salary a 23 week ban or more will ruin his career. What about my point on O'Driscoll? were you so fervent in your calls for a ban when Brian O'Driscoll concussed a bok player in one the worst tackles I have ever seen? Last time I checked tackling someone high can leave them in a wheelchair, gouging cant.
If he's going to do that he shouldn't have a career in rugby. So damaging an opponents eyesight is ok? If you're gouging you shouln't be on the pitch. If BOD's tackle was so bad he would have been cited. I will condem any dirty play. I have said all along there is no place in the game for any of it. Dupuy will be back after he serves his ban. I hope it sends out a signal that there is no part in the game for this. It has to stop.
There is a video of said tackle on youtube, watch it and tell me with a straight face he didn't deseve a citing. Lets not forget the Lions fans cheering when Rossouw couldn't get to his feet.
I'm gonna leave the Dupuy thing because I have about as much chance of convincing you of my point of view as you do of convincing me of yours.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to go polish our world cup trophy, tri nations, freedom cup, mandela plate, lions tour trophy and Super 14 trophy.
Yes I suppose so, but we'll be sure to come round next year with Juan Smith, Pierre Spies, Bakkies Botha, Jean De Villiers and hopefully Francois Steyn when we go on our grand slam tour.
Are you watching the same vid as the rest of us? first of all this is about Dupuy but since you brought up the BOD tackle on Rossouw i think you need to take an un biased look at that video again. His arms were clearly being extended but unfortunately his tackle was mistimed and they had a CLASH of HEADS... injuring BOTH players.
Really man. this Dupuy indecent is quite bad and your moaning about an accident in a game ages ago...
@leer33 you start off defending eye gouging and spear tackling, then say "People need to man up severely".

1. when did I dfend spear tackling?show me. For someone that souned me out for throwing insults you seem to be doing the same. I never defended gouging. I have said it's not the worst gouge I've seen. All these comments are very different from what I hear when Quinlan got banned. All I heard then was some sob story about how he'll miss the Lions tour. Rossouw is the far taller man. BO'D had to physically jump up to high tackle him. Thats what makes it bad. He went out of his way to high tackle.
@leer33 your 1st statement "First it was spear tackling, now the new thing everyone gets all hyped up about is eye gouging. People need to man up severely"
Also you brought up the Autumn tour so i brought up next years. And none of you have answered me on the Lions fanscheering whn Rossouw couldnt find his feet. talk about dodging the issue.
@leer33 I brought it up after you pointed out what you won in the past, I was pointing out your Autumn tour that you seem to have forgot about, strange since it was your most recent matches.
As for Rossouw, anything could have happened in the stadium to cause a cheer.
And how in holy fuck is it changing he subject when I use a example to illustrate my point of the atrocious double standard that exists in rugby. I dont argue in a linear pattern, I'm not 5 years old .
And now that I've shot down all your arguments you'll probably come bak with "HURRRRRRRRRRRRR thurs no place 4 gouging".Why dont you try making a new point instead of revisiting old ones. JEEZ.

It's hard to decide which is more sickening:
a) the original offence (trying to blind a fellow sportsman)
b) the decision to NOT stamp out this disgusting offence once and for all by giving a year or two year ban.
c) Dupuy then appealing against the ban
d) France's national coach saying, ""I hope there is an appeal and that the ban is replaced by something more reasonable."
What a revolting affair.
