  • I would have fucking beaten the shit out of those German fucks who refused to put up their hands and then proceeded to cut of their fucking arms with my combat knife.

  • Should have executed all of those German Nazi scum, fuck em all

  • @whengoodtimesgobadd On the contrary - these brave British soldiers were fighting for freedom, against fascism and againts the kind of moronic racism of which you are so fond. Don't ever make the mistake of confusing their sacrifice with your squalid little beliefs. I'd imagine the vast majority of alllied soldiers would have been appalled to see that, 60 years later, their country is home once again to revolting nationalist thinking. If only the real scum (you) would get out of the UK.

  • it was not the United Nations...

  • i am very grateful for the men who gave their lives

  • God Bless the USA! Great Movie. Thanks!

  • @robertquentincobb: My lord, it is as if you think the USA was agaist Nazi-Germany alone. Moron.

  • American propaganda...

  • Today is D-DAY we will Remember to the Glory Soldier. They gave their life for the Freedom.

  • Today is D-DAY we will Remember to the Glory Soldier. They gave their life for the Freedom

  • hitler was a fool for starting a war in the east, his generals tryed to warn him ,i think the normandy landings became even more important to the allies as time went on because they knew the red army was going to keep rolling over europe until they got to spain if they didnt get in there and head it off with there own armys, the turning point of this war was stalingrad.

  • Can't blame those german prisoners about being happy they got captured! the war was over for em!

  • @SuperKingJingaling Not at all. Hitler was always anti USSR. He actually wanted Britain as allies. Watch the documentary called "the wrong war"

  • @STOPTHEEU no no no you misunderstood the intention of hitler to make britain as his ally, Hitler Hated Britain in the eyes of Nazi it is the only country that will stand against them, the Nazi also understimated the Russian for them they are sub-humans,Britain knew well why Hitler wanted then to be an ally as Nazi parter in the world conquest that includes USA and pursue the Nazi evil plan against humanity England is against it, ah please read carefuly the authenticated facts the purpose of Axis

  • nice vid but this is pure propoganda

they dont say the bombers missed their targets deu to the smoke

they regard it as bombing peaceful looking terrain

they dont say the americns got slaughtered at omaha

  • @bleushift Damn right. Or about how long it took to take Cherbourg and that it was destroyed by then and had to be rebuilt.

Or the complete clusterfuck of the airborne landings and how many pilots dropped their troops into swamps to drown or too low for their chutes to open properly.

  • @ironhorzmn Indeed

  • respect.

  • They skipped the whole part where Allied forces got massacred before managing to take the beach.

  • i love how everyone thinks the Americans did everything in every way there was, Fact Canada did more than anyone in the first world war, Canada took Vimy ridge Canada took Passchendaele, the Somme and so on, and in ww2 they were there from the start to the finish they liberated Holland and were a huge part of the Italian campaign and advanced further then anyone on the first day of d-day, Hollywood is what makes the Americans look so good you have all these movies, but go to Europe for the truth

  • @burnz0021 The only reason canada took more land on d-day is because they did not have as much resistance.

  • @SuperKingJingaling Both were planning to backstab the the other Hilter did it first because he loss to Great Britain.

  • Thank you,America. xxxxxxxxxxx Our true ally.

  • sweet sweet sweet

  • narrated by Barack Obama! Cool!

  • This documentary is horrible! Aside from the narrorators constant perpetuation and inflection when he says "DEEEEEE-DAYYYYYY" it is quite annoying to have orchestra music playing through out the film as if they were trying to give the viewer a sense of subliminal patriotism, instead of cold hard un-bias facts! I will not watch part 3 for it is a mockery of history and D Day

  • those of you who get ww2 facts from call of duty need to grow up and really find out about ww2

  • what an asswhole!America never won a war. it was the english and russian who defendet germany. America get blusted in korea, vietnam and now in irak and afghanistan. I dont like nazis but if you wanna tell history , tell it how it was. Coz you had a lot of trouble whit the best army in the world

  • If America has never won a war then explain how the Japanese defeated the Americans in the 1940s.

  • @jocke52 The English took a back seat when we decided to push into France. We were the first ones to reach Germany (only talking about the English and Americans still). We helped the Russia in Stalingrad by giving them food during the siege, am I correct? We helped in the Battle of Britian by sending pilots over. We took the most bloody path agianst Japan. For Korea and so on I will start another reply.

  • @devenci Britain did not take a back seat as the Allies pushed into France. The British and their commonwealth provided more manpower for the invasion of France than the Americans did and all the top commanders except SHAEF were British. America took prominance after the battle for Normandy had ended but not before.

And America sent no pilots over to the UK for the Battle of Britain. The American's who participated in that were all volunteers who refused to accept American neutrality.

  • @devenci It could be argued, in fact, that the American's subordinating the British proved to be detrimental to the Allied cause in Europe. SHAEF making CIGS redundant in the Europen war was one of the main effects of this and the result was that the premier strategist at the Western Allies disposal - Field Marshal Alan Brooke - was ignored while the amateur, political soldier - Dwight D. Eisenhower - bumbled through the European war without clear direction or control and extended it by 6 months

  • @jocke52 Korea is still today a CEASEFIRE! Not a surrender. The US job in Korea was to hold on to South Korea, but I don't think they really cared about taking over the North. Anyhow Vietnam was a mistake it never gained support in the US and it was a war that couldn't be won. It was never a war by the way. US never declared war. We invaded Iraq and defeated Iraq succesfully in Desert Storm. Today we just wiped out the insurgents and it is about over. In Afgahnistan soon to be the same story.

  • oNE OF MY UNCLES WAS 17.HE had the luxury, because he dodged the the draft, and they chased him down,he had the PLEASURE OFF liberating BELSON,YEAH HE SAW THE NAZI TIME,WITH PEOPLE TREATING PEOPLE LIKE SLAUAGHTER HOUSES,if you ever saw a man come to his knees War is wrong

  • He should say the might of the ALLIES.

    Not jut America....

  • it's an american documentary.what do you expect?they show up late for the war so they act like they played a major role in the outcome.

  • @joakeimmcgrath we might of not of started the war be we sure where the one's who finished it. America did most of the work and effort in ending WW2.

  • @Patsun9 You didn't show up,before the battle of Normandy, not to mention that you thought participating on the side of Germany.

  • @Patsun9

yeah...don't think so there, Patsun. It was a combined effort. But thank you for coming out.

You need to read a history book that wasn't written in the U.S.A.

  • @Patsun9

I would have to say it was the Soviet forces that did the most work but not efficiently. The UK was certainly a contributor till the end as where the Canadians, the Poles, the allied French, all the occupied lands requiring assets to be tied up. Anyone that tied up resources contributed as they could not concentrate forces. They where on a multi front war with allies on the east, west, north and south. Allies coming up Italy, the landings in on the west, the Soviets and so on.

  • @Patsun9 Did America lose over 20,000,000 men in the effort to defeat Nazi-Germany like the Soviet Union? Did America fight 6 years tirelessly around the world against Nazi-Germany and Japan like Britain? The answer is no. There's a differance between saying American played an important role in winning the war & saying American did all the work. America certainly did play an very important part in winning the war by they couldn't have done so without their allies, the British/Commonwealth & USSR

  • @11nytram11 the majority of naziskilled in the war happened in the eastern front where the soviets were fighting.

  • @11nytram11 The british didnt do shit they were getting their asses kicked and the russians lost 16,000,000 million from the war and 60,000,000 from that idiot Stalin the reason the war ended is because the americans cut off an escape route for the nazis!

  • @jeffry477 Nazi-Germany's strength was broken by the Soviet Union. To say anything else, regardless of whatever kind of tyrant Stalin was, is distortion.

Britain broke the enigma code, Britain kept the Atlantic open for shipping, Britain conducted the most and the largest bomber raids over Germany, Britain fought as the dominant partners in the North Africa and Italy, British/Commonwealth manpower, technology and leadership was crucial to victory in OVERLORD.

  • @jeffry477 American provided most of the material towards the victory and was the nation most responsible for winning the war in the Pacific, and also put a lot of manpower into Europe. But America did not win the war alone, nor was the American contribution greater than the Soviet Union's or Britain's.

In terms of percentage the responsibility for winning the War in Europe would be Soviet Union 50%, Britain 25% & US 25%,

For the Pacific it would be US 70%, Britain 20% & Soviet Union 10%

  • @jeffry477 This percentage of course does not include the influence of the resistance in Nazi occupid territories nor the influece of smaller nations. The term "Britain" is used to save space but represents the Commonwealth as well.

  • @11nytram11 So i have a question for you. How long did it take you to look that up on wikipedia? because one, that makes absolutly no sense and two, you sound like a complete retard!

  • @jeffry477 Oh yes. That works. Counter facts with insults. Really gives credibility to your argument that the British and the Soviet Union did nothing and America did everything.

Elaberate. What, exactly, did I say that made "absolutely no sense"? What did I say that was incorrect? If you can't even make a cohesive argument to oppose mine but resort straight away to insults when challenged then you've already lost the debate - regardless of whatever silly jibes about wikipedia.

  • @11nytram11 I'm pretty sure that the facts are that nazi-germany was kicking britains ass until america had enterd the war and dont try to bring out percentages because those are completley wrong. The Soviet's alone killed of 75% of the nazi's and the british killed around 10%

  • @jeffry477 Germany was not "kicking Britan's ass" before the Amerian's entered the war. Germany had lost the Battle of Britain, were losing the Battle of the Atlantic with their U-Boats being neutralized & had not been able to gain a clear upper-hand in North Africa with the front seesawing between advance & retreat for both sides. Rommel was decisively crushed at El Alamein by Monty before any American units saw any action & had lost to Auchinlech in operation Crusader & at 1st Al Alamein.

  • @jeffry477 The Soviets may have done most of the fighting on land but they had absolutlely no part in the Battle of the Atlantic, which without victory in no supplies could reach either Britain or Russia, further the Soviets relied on Britain to send them war materials via the Artic Convoys around Norway & Sweden through which the Soviets gained weapons & ammunition from Britain & the US. They couldn't attack Germany proper for a long time either & relied on Britain's Bomber Command to do it.

  • @jeffry477 There's more to consider in responsibilty for the victory over Nazi-Germany than just who killed the most. Britain's role may have been more of a supporting one but Britain keeping the Atlantic open for shipping, keeping the Artic Convoy's sailing, breaking the enigma code, keeping thousands of German troops busy in North Africa & keeping Luftwaffe units busy in the Mediterranean & over Germany itself was no less important that the Soviets killing such a large percentage of Germans

  • Comment removed

  • @11nytram11 Yeah remove your comment you prick

  • @jeffry477 I removed that comment because it was a double post of the one above it.

  • @jeffry477 See. the difference here is that I am crediting America as being a very important part of a team that worked together to defeat Nazi-Germany and Japan while also giving credit to the British and the Soviet Union. You on the other hand are spitting on the contribution of the British and the Soviets by giving all the credit for winning the war to America.

Dont you think that's a bit insulting to the millions of British/Commonwealth and Soviet troops who fought in that war?

  • @11nytram11 What I'm saying is that if the Americans didnt enter the war in europe the nazi's would have takin britain. Ya i give the soviets props, they killed 75% of the nazis but they werent the greatest of peoples they killied 60 million of their own people.

  • @jeffry477 Nazi-Germany failed to take Britain a year before America entered the war and after the Battle of Britain ended the Germany's occupied themselved with their own great crusade against Communist Russia, making any further invasions attempts of Britain unlikely if not non-existant.

Without America entering the war there could have been no invasion of France and no campaign in North-Western Europe but Britain was already safe long before America entered the war.

  • @11nytram11 not really, Britain is a small island with few resources, during the war britain was getting all the raw materials from colonies in Africa which was being takin over by Axis forces. This would have cut of all reources from Britain and they wouldn't be able to produce weapons for the war.

  • @jeffry477 Britain was successfully defending its African colonies from the Axis powers. Most of the seesaw campaign in North Africa took place in the Italian colony of Libya. Rommel, regardless of the greatness of his legend, never came close to conquering any British territory in Africa. Hell! He couldn't even finish off Ritchie and Cunningham, two of the worst Army commanders of the entier war. Egpyt was the only British colony in Africe threatened by the Axis and it was successfully defended

  • At the end those kids sound like they are singing god save the king rather than singing America as the commentator claims

  • @mustymodo - God save the QUEEN, muffaga....the QUEEN!! And what the fuck is "singing Amerca"??.

  • @Jhoxi1972 it sounds like the commentator is saying they are singing america. But he is mumbling a bit.

as for god save the queen, queen elizabeth did not acend to the thone until june 1953, around eight years after the war had finished. So I am correct in saying it sounds like they are singing god save the KING. as King George VI elizabeths father was king at the time this film was made.

elizabeth was a princess so could not be sung to as queen. now stop trolling you naughty boy.

  • @Jhoxi1972 The US freed Paris thats why. "America" is a song too... Goes sort of like the song "Oh Canada"

  • but Guring insted of finishing the remainnig briitish air force he turned bombing the big cities of England.....

And dont forget olso the the british had the Radar wich automticly gave them big advantage over the germans.......

  • spell it right ,Goering non Guring, du arsch.

  • hermann goering ist der volle name oder? (hermann göring is the full name right?)

  • Stimmt,Hermann Goering,ganz richtig.

  • Fridomfry you are correct about the first chapter of your message, bur about your message (the young Luftwaffe pilots of 1944 were trained too briefly to match their RAF enemies) i thing you are incorrect, did you forget that germans were fighting in spain ,poland, france before having any air conflicts with the RAF.England was loosing the war but G

  • the german troops were far superior to the British, france ,american ,newzeland ,canadian together ,Thats a fact and every budy knows that .:)

  • with the exception of 1st Airborne i would agree with u. fact of the matter is the western allies almost never advanced without some kind of arty support before hand, and never attacked at night or infilitrated at night. Now look at the Eastern Front. Both sides fought at night, germans rarely had arty support before attacking or counterattacking. The western allies may have had superior numbers and material but were no match for the germans or the soviets in fighting ability.

  • asside from being strafed from the air constantly on the western front, most german soldiers loved the fact that they got a break every time the sun went down in comparison to having to be alert 24 hours a day on the eastern front.

  • Yeah totally explains why two German armies were totally routed in less than 70 days and the Germans lost twice the men.

  • Well, any army which has a 5 year experience of war is better than less seasoned ones. Yet there were many Allied units which were just as good as the best German divisions. And, according to Galland' memoirs, the young Luftwaffe pilots of 1944 were trained too briefly to match their RAF enemies.

  • Not a word was spoken about the decisive role of the Soviet Union, which took on itself the most terrible blow of Hitlers army and suffered the greatest human losses.

  • The Soviet Union took no part in the Battle of Normandy, which is the subject of the program.

  • Boo to Germany!

  • Deux vues sur Ouistreham (Sword beach) à 02.17 - 02.18 et à 02.36 (carrefour du Cheval Blanc).

  • The parts showing the high bluffs are Omaha Beach, the worst and best defended, 4,700 USA casualties there. This vid has great pics and also shows the Brits and Canadians at their 3 beaches.

  • Bless his soul!! Salud!!

  • The coolest thing about D day was Hobarts funnies, they were great. Thats why D day had fewer casualties than expected. Apart from Omaha where the Americans sunk all their tanks.

  • quite right, no tele-prompters in those days. lol

  • Rest In Peace Too All

Thanks For What You Gave So We Today Could Have The Life We Have

    Bravery At Its Finnest

  • am I mistaken , or are those kids singing the british national anthem...does that commentator not know the us anthem ???

  • It was the 'British National Anthem'. Does make you laugh tho. Anyway, the men that went were the bravest men on the planet by far.

  • Its actually "My Country 'Tis of Thee" which uses the same tune as God Save the Queen...

    ....listen to the lyrics dumbass

  • @EddyMcK but its not as long! :P

  • did he survive

  • are you asking me?
