  • solomon grundy is a real G

  • LMAO @ the Joker goin for the LOOT @ 00:30

  • Classic Grundy @3:36..."Box not affected by Magna Ray"

  • There are two things only Superman can penetrate: Krypton Steel and Lois Lane.

  • This was the conversation when the refinery people visited the HoJ to sell the SFs on the building a refinery on SF land.

Grundy disguised as oil worker. "You no worry, we am refining oil. We not bad guys."

  • Why doesn't superman just go flying through the building, melt the villians with heat ray, save the day go back home and smoke a doobie? Sounds so much easier than just walking through the door, talking to the bad guy and asking him to stop like a good citizen.

  • I'm sure i'm not the first person to notice this, but the element was created by Dr. Natas? ... Could it be .... mmmmm .... SATAN?

  • @Groome007 His name was Nataz, but yes.

  • Everytime Robin talks I want to call in a long distance dedication :)

  • Why can't I have Superfriends? All I have are normal friends who get drunk all the time.

  • so wait some random couple just say "its batman and he's dead" without looking him over.....well glad no one looked for a pulse before calling him dead

  • Man...Someone is banging that cymbal hard at 3:17. Blaster Beam sound effects at 8:00.

  • D: They killedz BATMAN DD:

  • Darth Vader called. He wants his helmet back at 6:36.

  • somebody needs to die around here to suck penises at 0:26.

  • I love that when Wonder Woman teleports (by the way- WTF?) to Paradise Island, the Hall of Doom's lasers are still bouncing off of a rooftop that isn't even standing anymore. Thanks, sweat shop animators!

  • . even know this was ridiculous it's still of my favorites

  • What the heck kind of "element" kills Batman? He's human...lol

  • When Hawkman said "its Perry white editor of the daily planet" on the monitor screen I know Superman was thinking to himself "WTF man, wht theyre coming after me..whycant they go after apache chief next" LOL

  • In other news billionaire Bruce Wayne.

  • mean while back at the hall of justice aqua man makes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich cause he can do crap

  • Damn your boomerang is the bomb mine doesnt have ANY of this!!!!!

  • DC's gamble on a Green Lantern movie was a long shot. But the upcoming Apache Chief franchise is money in the bank!

  • the l.o.d was just calling them out to kill them. hard core baby. thats the shit im talking about

  • Its sad that this show isnt on anymore

  • Oh No!! Not Superman too!! Gee can't wait to see what happens next. Oh wait. I already did. a lllooooonnnnngggggg time ago. lol Thanks dude! Great memories.

  • The first oil worker took off his mask, and he looked Exactly the same! Why even wear a mask?!?!

  • Okay, at 1:24, the woman with brown hair and glasses, blink and you'll miss it, it that Barbara Gordon?

  • as cheesy as this was think about it... the legion of doom was smart enough to take out batman first. in every other battle the super bad guys always underestimate batman, not this time.

  • LOL...Batman's only got a fraction of a second to say "i've only got a fraction of a second." at 6:30

  • The voice of Robin is Casey Kasem - lovely!

  • the 1978 season pitted each and every superfriend with thier exact opposite.

  • a giant mousetrap,really?

  • ......if the crystal contains all the things necessary to kill each of the superfriends......did it just contain a gun to kill batman and robin....

  • Kml....@1:50 batman

  • lol god I love dc, but this is awful, even for its time.

  • Instead of removing Superman, shouldn't it have removed Luthur

  • supercool

  • Only Superman can penatrate huh?

  • Just repeat the MST3K mantra and you'll enjoy the ridiculousness.

  • Dr. Natas lex speaks of is satan backwards thats crazy haha

  • that sounded like jeff gordan not comissioner gordan

  • If this were real Batman would not stand a chance

  • superb thanks

  • Superman: "It contains all the necessary elements to destroy EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US!"

    Robin: "OMG, even bullets?!"

  • hahaha... Casey Kasem... "So long old pal, we'll never forget ya."

  • Convient how during the Batman Riddler chase there is no one on the streets.

  • this is one of the greatest animated DC comics show in history. any and all future animated warner brothers programs should be just like this show.

  • Man alive, this is scary stuff. I can't believe they let kids watch this. Of course the pay-out in the end taught us to always have courage and most of all hope. Even now, this holds up for it's style, originality, and honesty of adaptation to the source material. I think the best idea conveyed here, aside from hope, is to "always plan 3 steps ahead". My little nephew watched this and he got freaked out, lol.

  • Isn't it funny Lex Luthor and Solomon Grundy have Perry White and Lois Lane tied up in Clark Kent's office?

  • Man, I didn't know Wonderwoman could spin like the Tasmanian Devil.

  • Strange that the legion of doom uses a darth vader mask to travel in.

  • 4:33 - 4:55 hahahaha "Thanks, Super-Fool..."

  • LOL they have a flying dome with robot legs and Cheetah has to jump out with a parachute instead of some type of rocket machine..lol

  • i CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE THEY WERE CASUALLY TALKING ABOUT death in a Superfriends episode...they really crossed the censors in this episode. Im mean, little kids were watching these cartoons..pretty sophisticated for the strict 1970s.

  • Ralph Bakshi's "Rocket Robin Hood" must've been a major influence here. There were several "limited animation" cartoons from Canada where the movements were stiff, but the shapes, colors, and backgrounds were outlandish.

  • i wish the noxium crystal would of killed wondar woman

  • Obviously Batman used his Bat-noxium repellent.

  • OK, why is an oil well 50 ft from the hall of justice?

  • @unlimiteddj It is convenient for fuel for the Batjet, the invisible jet, and the aqua scooter.

  • @ReturnofLatinPupE Since the Batplane and the Invisible Plane could travel into outer space I doubt the fuel came from oil.

  • @DarthSideous63 When they go on those trips for outer space, they go to a different refinery to refuel.

  • @ReturnofLatinPupE That must be one heck of a refinery.

  • @DarthSideous63 Yes it is. Metropolis set up this refinery exclusively for the Superfriends and have the highest security clearance.

  • @ReturnofLatinPupE Wow, neat info. I really wish there was a real superfriends in the world. I would support them in everything.

  • @ReturnofLatinPupE Why does Aquaman need a scooter? He has a giant Seahorse and every other aquatic animal at his disposal. So why does he need a water scooter? Seems rather pointless to have imo.

  • @unlimiteddj It was A joint venture between Lex corp & Wyane Enterprises

  • @unlimiteddj and everyone....the bad guys set up the oil refinery...this is explained at the beginning...sheesh

  • @unlimiteddj i know, right?

  • Is it just me, or does Grundy remind anyone of Scooby-Doo's Creeper?

  • The Noxium crystal contains kryptonite for me, yellow energy for Green Lantern, and, uh, essence of bullets for everyone else!

Seriously, does no one in the Legion of Doom own a handgun?

I love Superman's plan here: scope out Luthor's position with his X-ray vision first, then just walk through the front door and stand motionless instead of blasting Luthor through the wall with his heat vision, or yanking him through the floor, or just plain flying at him at a 100 mph and disarming him.

  • @xerxestireirondada since it was Superman's android double, it's part of the plan to get himself "killed"

  • Too bad the noxium didn't kill off that annoying dork Robin.

  • Since when can Aquaman fly? And if i remember correctly flash could fly in this too.... Weird

  • @busymike Aquaman has all fish capabilities. Haven't you ever heard of a flying fish?

  • @ReturnofLatinPupE No he doesn't...... His power is to control and command sea life... He doesn't have fish capabilities...Plus, flying fish don't actually fly... lol

  • @thephantomhoax2012 I think the problem is that there is another show exactly like this called "Justice League" that is much, much better. I love Superfriends too, but there's no excuse for the laziness that went into some of these episodes. This particular cartoon episode was really good (in comparison), but this show in general was poor quality even for the time when it was made.

  • @Horticultural1 Really? Because if you really believe that, I get a sense that you weren't around to see these when they were first on and seriously? Pretty much all the cartoons in the 70's were cheezy. Take in mind this show wasn't designed for adults but for kids under 10. I agree Justice League and pretty much all the Bruce Timm influence DC stuff blows this away but THOSE guys all loved these even if they felt they were lacking.

  • @skrlbst I did watch this show when it was originally on, and I loved it (and I still have a lot of affection for it now). But the animation is low quality even for the time period, and I say this as someone who worked in that industry back in the day so I know how rough cell animation can get. It was never very good, but this particular show was exceptionally bad in terms of animation; it's almost as if they refused to make more than a few hundred cells per episode.

  • @Horticultural1 Oh. I see. Sorry I think I was on a bit of a sentimental rant. Yeah from a technical standpoint, they did cheap out. I simply don't remember very much back then actually being good and thought perhaps you weren't judging it on those merits. After thinking more, I realize that the Filmation Batman was actually more what I would watch back then and I did not really even watch these for a good 4 years after they were on.

  • @Horticultural1 I then proceeded to watch Superman Batman Public Enemies and realized how freakin much animation had improved. There's still a certain charm of the cast HB chose overriding the crapiness of the animation and honestly some of the stupidity here actually adds to levity and escapism. LOL

  • @skrlbst Are you saying that today's cartoons are superior? It maybe because of CGI, but the story is more important than CGi.

  • @Sweetmervs Not at all. I personally am not a big fan of CGI, I think DC takes its story MUCH more seriously now than back then. It's an odd position to be in because I am definitely not saying I dislike these old cartoons, just that I think they do a much better job and tell much more mature stories now.

  • @Horticultural1 Also take in mind that it took 16 years between the time the last Super Friends episode in 1985 and the premiere of Justice League. In the 90's many comic fans scoffed at the idea of DC having good movies, cartoons or licensed merchandise other than Batman.

  • The legion of doom and Darth Vaders helmet!

  • @thephantomhoax2012

as a 9-10 yr old in the late 70's..........i used to watch :Good Times:..... every day after school.....and The superfriends! teehee

    agreed,Good Times those 70's-80's ^ _ ^

  • yo this gyal cheetah is odee funny, lol in 5;50 an excellent performance commissionaire that should bring Batman here in second, love her only cause of her accent hahahahahahahahahahahahah lml

  • Comment removed

  • How did they make the Noxium crystal shoot it's energy? Just point, and whala.

  • In the mine, why did Lex, Grundy and Sinestro float down the hole in that flying boat? Sinestro could have just flown them down with his power ring. I would think it would be cheaper.

  • both Lane and Gordon look a bit off. barely recognisable.

  • My all time favorite episode

  • Mood Oil...spelled backward=Doom Oil

  • Sinestro looks like Jafar from Aladdin!

  • "A quick blast of my heat vision should disintegrate your disintegrator."

Or... just open it, I guess.

  • 2:31 Lex Luther wears a mask of himself? lol.

Aquaman to Wonder Woman 8:34 "It's a trap."

    Awww. The Classics are great.

  • 2:31 Lex Luther wears a mask of himself? lol.

Aquaman to Wonder Woman 8:34 "It's a trap."

    Awww. The Classics are great.

  • 2:31 Lex Luther wears a mask of himself? lol.

Aquaman to Wonder Woman 8:34 "It's a trap."

    Awww. The Classics are great.

  • many thanx to the uploader, used to love this sat morns along with birdman, herculoids, valley of the dinosaurs, sigmund, lost islands.

  • Great Gotham! I've only got a fraction of a second to say my lines and activate the "Bat rockets". lol

  • hah! Dr. Natas ... I definitely didn't catch that when I was 8 years old. Awesome! Thanks for posting this video!

  • Wasn't this Commissioner Gordon's first SuperFriends appearance?

  • wow lets not team up and go one by one we will have a better chance to die that way

  • WOW! How did this eps ever get past the censors? images of heros being shot at point blank range & falling to their deaths. & then on lookers exclaiming aloud......"THERE DEAD"!! FUCKING AWSOME!

  • Announcer: Spalding (Ted knight joke)

  • 8:35 "As the Tasmanian Devil, I swore to defend Paradise Island!"

  • Legend of Doom = republicans

    Superfreind = liberals

  • For all that find faults in these early 70s 80s cartoons....ask yourself these questions

....when you were young, why didn't you see the faults then? Why, because you didn't know any difference at that age

....why are you able to recognize the faults now? Why, because you've grown up and have the episodes so many times that it's easy to find things wrong.

  • @thephantomhoax2012 I agree. Even with all it's alleged flaws, this is still a lot BETTER than the cartoons today, except the Justice league series.

  • When the heck did Wonderwoman develop teleportation powers? She just spins around and instantly arrives at Paradise Island?

  • lol. She looks kinda funny spinning and disappearing, right? But I've never seen her use it before in comics or other episodes. Has she?

  • Comissioner Gordon looks like Colonel Sanders.

  • 8:38 I never knew wonder woman could do that .... spinny teleport thing lol. Has she ever actually used this ability in a specific episode or comic?

  • @navygirl930 Apparently WW could only do the spinny teleport thing in a hallway. She had to run out of the main room to do it.

  • why are they drilling for oil in the middle of a major city would that not have gained the attention of the superfriends Im just asking

  • You guys are funny-this show was for the smallest of kids and when I watched it I didn't question any of the story elements but as an adult there are obvious idiosyncrasies but its a fun show to say the least.

  • True enough but why, why, WHY do the Superfriends never use their powers instead of their gadgets? And how much Kryptonite is really out there, really? How easy is it to get?

  • @phantassm See that's how I always felt, as a teenager I kinda felt like "wow why am I watching this?" as it was fairly stupid. I saw reruns again in 1996 and thought the same EXCEPT there was this really fun charm to its stupidity and at that time we still had yet to have the Bruce Timm Superman let alone see anyone besides Batman. I would have to say 1992 changed the game with X-Men and Batman on Fox, which in their ways upped the ante on superhero cartoon quality.

  • its funny that you never hear kill though out the series.

  • gee they took batman's death rather hard.

  • @nealadamsdotcum

I'd expect Robin to since he was pretty much useless without Batman.

  • okay, I get it, we were eight years old when we watched this, we didn't question all the b.s. What was the writer's excuses? How did they let half of this bad story writing get through?

  • @nealadamsdotcum Because they knew the audience they were targeting wouldn't question their errors.

  • @ReturnofLatinPupE

agreed when i was a kid i thought this was awesome.

  • wtf can scarecrow do?? You could just punch a hole in him if you wanted, or set him on fire like the powder puff girls did.

Wat a usefless villaain. just as bad as aquaman.

  • Sinestro at 3:11 - That's what she said.

  • Why does Commissioner Gordon sound like he's

    from the deep south?

  • @Immortal1000 Kinda of like Al Gore is from Washington but he's actually from Tennesee but he's actually from California and on and on.

  • It's b.s. that Batman would die first. It that was Kevin Conroy or Christian Bale's Batman he would have solved the whole mystery for all the DC Universe.

  • Not sure why they used the Noxium Crystal on Batman - He is freaking HUMAN!!!! A gun would have been just fine.

  • @coronaoverhere - This is just a personal opinion. From the information provided, we could conclude that the noxium crystal was specially created to effect each of the superfriend heros. While it is true that batman and robin are indeed human, the creator of the crystal could have obtained DNA samples from them and used this to become a murder weapon.

  • @coronaoverhere - While a gun could have been a perfect weapon against them, a gun would not be affective against superman, so they used a single weapon to target them all. We may never know what went through the writers mind at any rate.

  • Batman's costume is bullet proof.

  • Darth vaders head attacking paradise island wierd

  • "Thanks Super Fool , you just sealed the fate of the entire Justice League!"

Priceless dialogue.... they have got to make a movie of this....

  • madddd hillarious

  • Best Episode Ever

  • Cool that Batman dies in front of a Theatre (like his parents).

  • Where was Robin in this one? He should've been there, if only to go for help

  • This episode would have been better if told from the LODs point of view.

  • I used to love this show

  • Pause at 1:35

Robin is not wearing any gloves then,

    he's wearing them at 1:38

    Come on now.

  • Sorry too busy looking at Paradise Island poon tang at 7:55 - 8:01 .. wtf are you looking at gloves, for?!

  • @The7legacy yeah he probably removed them real quick so he could wipe his eyes. Gloves back then were so dirty.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree. I think like this show better than Justice League. (However, I think Galactic Guardians was the best one of the series.)

  • ''Box not affected by.......Magana Ray,''

you've got to love the hillbilly they found to do Solomon Grundys voice.

    classic.

  • 1:44 very cool visual. Oddly, it was right around this time that in DC Comics Batman, at least the Earth 2 Batman, really was killed off for good.

  • That's interesting, 'cus this batman is clearly not the Earth-one batman.

  • this is when cartoons ment somethig

  • Dr.Nataz ?!? WTF?

  • Actually, it's Dr. Natas....which is Satan in reverse, which is fitting name for a member of the Legion of Doom.

  • Oh cool. I had not noticed that. Thanks.

  • @ReturnofLatinPupE No, it's in reference to former famed skate pro, Natas Kaupas. :p

  • I know. Luthor said that Natas was a one time member of the LOD. But how could he have been a one time member if the LOD was created in the first episode?

  • When GL takes off to defend the hall, BATMAN is standing there...he is supposed to be dead. The creature attacks, and the best thing GL could make was a stupid mouse trap for the creatures toe??? CRAP wiring, CRAP continuity and CRAP production quality.

  • it's a flashback, he's not dead yet!

  • I remember this i was crying when i saw batmans grave until later I figure out it was a ruse to get rid of the stone

  • pure Cheese, this is why I love the Superfriends, the absurdity of most of it and never having to explain, too bad kids are so damned nitpicky today.

  • "MOOD OIL CO" - Wouldn't you think that would arouse a LITTLE bit of suspicion??

  • LOL I guess that was a little poetic licesence from the writers.

  • 10:00

If I can't even attempt to help those who depend on me, then I'd rather not live!

That's what the SuperFriends is all about.

  • "We are ready to go down!" Queue porno music.

  • This was actually the first time I've heard of yellow radiation being Green Lantern's weakness, when Superman explained what elements were in that deadly crystal. Kryptonite was a given, as we all know it to be his own Achilles heel, but yellow radiation being GL's bane? In the newer Justice League cartoons the Green Lantern Corps has overcome it, haven't they?

  • They removed that weakness many years ago.

It was ok during the time this show aired but today most people think thats a very stupid weakness.

  • I thought it was a great weakness. It meant that they didn't have to make villains more and more powerful just to overcome the TooSuper Heroes.

  • @ladycordelia17 Actually at that time, yellow anything rendered Green Lantern's power ring ineffective. For example, one could use a yellow baseball bat, and break his force field.

  • Superhero fact #1: When the enemy comes a knockin' wait for them to damage your home before doing something.

Superhero fact #2: Mouse traps stop robots.

Superhero fact #3: The Batmobile can drive on 2 wheels without reason, as seen at 6:12.

Superhero fact #4: If you know you're walking into a trap, there's no reason to come prepared.

Superhero fact #4: You're dead if someone pronounces it without verification.

Supervillain fact #1: You can buy parachutes that match your costume!

  • @r0bw00d

Superhero fact#5: Justin Bieber emo generation freaks can't enjoy a show without pointing errors that kids wouldn't notice since they were bothering about seeing heroes like superman and batman working together.
