The reforms HAD to be done. USSR was anyway going to collapse due the government inefficiency, Gorbaciov tried his best, and sadly failed.

I prefer to see that USSR died like a "democracy" then a nearly fascist country.

Don't get me wrong, i love the USSR, but it is true that until Gorbaciov pressure on citiziens was too much talking about freedom of speech and the press, things went a lot better after Stalin, making the USSR a "half-democracy" but with severe control of the people.

@Zukhov1945 socialism is more of a democracy than capitalism- far more. Free speech is merely one aspect of democracy. Collective ownership of land and industry is also democracry.

Free speech is dangerous when it threatens the two thing above, then it must be stopped

@mecidlo it was Gorbachev's too, he started to reform the economy, Pestroika, Glasnost, free press etc.. They even bought a MacDonald's restaurant into USSR

хочу привлечь внимание к судьбе молодого художника артёма лоскутова. он вывел молодежь на манифестацию 1 мая под названием монстрация, теперь сидит в тюрьме по обвинению в хранении наркотиков в крупных размерах. он никогда не курил даже сигарет. помогите
