Is this the official video? If so how come Metric's official channel hasn't uploaded it? EIther way this is a very beautiful song and a very beautiful video.
I agree. It very much states how we are fundamentally seperated from each other. Even if our minds/souls/ghosts- whatever we call it- can interact there is always a line that´s never to be crossed. Our bodies are borders, borders we need to actknowledge for being individuals... sadest thing on earth, by calling myself "i" and yourself "you" i create a line that will always seperate us...
Ok... I know i've already commented on this vid, but i have to say , it was weird just now because just as it got to the bit with the falling airplanes, i head one going over the house... *creepy film music*
This brings a whole new meaning to the word, "fight." When there is a war someone is always fighting. In this case, she is fighting for her baby to survive.
you have to look past it, the videos special for the fact that its not, its different, thus creating seperation from the every day norm, simply beautifull
I Love both the song and the video. I know it's really odd, but i really want to dance with someone to thins. Though, as i don't have anyone to dance with, letallone anyone who even knows Metric... i don't think that's gonna happen.
'who put these bodies between us?' is just a perfect line. reminds me of my friend who believes that when she's hugging a person, their bodies get in the way of their souls interacting. pretty profound.
@coquelicotsteaparty THATS what I came to comment! i love the song but when she got to that line the first time i heard it i chocked up real bad! sure makes it hard on a lonely guy :)
I think at the heart of it, many people can relate to this song, or metric in general.
Even if it isn't the exact same story, the way Emily Haines sings in such a passively sad voice, and lines like "who put these bodies between us?" truly can strike a chord in everyone.
For those who do not understand the song - think about alienation at a corporate work place and a person liking another person in that environment. Double entendre on 'working the numbers.'
Am I the only person that thinks this video is just as good as the song itsel? I mean the video is abstract and unique. At least it's not like thos generic, two-bit R&B and/or Rap videos we see on television these days.
Generic two-bit videos generally. Don't solely attack r&b and rap, particularly when you are only basing your opinions on corporate world's version of what r&b, rap and hip-hop is.
Sorry, but it's more than just the "corporate world's" version of Hip-Hop and R&B. R&B features either the idol worship of another or lust and infatuation while one sings of such topics while driving a car or walking down a street. Hip-Hop, however involves self-glorification and the degrading of women. There was a time when Hip-Hop had meaningful lyrics; something that is becoming increasingly obsolete today. At least Bands like Metric make a point by using metaphor, simile, and imagery.
I agree, their not exactly eating each others heads of. It looks more like a clean, researched debate. Unlike some on here where you give an opinion and all you get is four hundred swear words ending in your a bastard. If theres too many words there for you to read, then please be my guest and leave it at that. Let others speak, if you've got no real point to share with us other then your brain is hurting then please be quiet.
I like metric, I think many of their songs are misjdged though.
Definitely my favorite Metric song because of the cryptic and haunting lyrics. I love how much this song has become a describable emotion for me. Plus, the creepy creature(s) in the video would make for a disturbing/brilliant Halloween costume. Try marketing those masks.
The music of this song sounds like something out of Portal 2 soundtrack.
