As flakey as this movie appears from the surface, it's actually an ok film. We've seen all kinds of Tim Allen shit movies, but this was one of his best. It seems like they had a lot of fun making G Quest as well. The films concept of actors forced into a real space adventure is cool.
When I said, "You shall be avenged!" to Alan Rickman while he was signing autographs outside of his Broadway show Seminar and he forced an unpleasant smile, should I take that to mean he was not happy with me?
@switzerlicious maybe it was a joke? you know, how in this he played an actor who hated playing his character so he did the unpleasant smile as part of the joke. either that or you should sleep with one eye open, he's rich enough to afford hitmen.
I was four when this movie came out into theaters and I can remember watching it over and over again so often that mom hid it from me. I just went out and bought another one. This along with Final Fantasy: The spirits within were the only two movies I actually WANTED to watch. . . probably not the best two movies for a four year old to be watching. . .
@jerry4king "The show must go on" is a theatre saying that probably dates back to Roman times. You can see by the effect it has on Alan Rickman's character that it is the one and only thing that could be said that could get him out on the stage.
It's like saying, look, idiot, all those people have paid for this event and if you can't hack it, the show has to continue without you, and you can sit here and listen to us struggle along, or you can get out there and do your best.
In the episode you can just see that the actor hes palying does not like to play second in command.
And at this moment i am sitting at my Computer watching Alan RIckman in Galaxy Quest while on TV is the Hitchiker's Fuide to teh Galaxy which is another movie hes been in and eating Cheese Sticks while drinking soda out of a Silly Straw. How strange am i?
omg......... it is more chesser the the orginal star trek............. O_o alan rickmans little "ah!" that was pitiful......... but if i had to choose between alan's character and spock........ i would choose alan <3
Since the last Harry Potter movie, I've been watching every Alan Rickman movie I can find. And I have to say, he succeeds in everything he does. Everything.
ur music is like a gentle wave of semen washing over my face.. cool and southing, it brushes my lips... i taste it... i love it i am it i seek it.. whitout semen i am empty... with it... my anus full,,,, semen is good for me and for you and for him and for he... semen... that is all..

I still like to see this movie every couple months. I remember that the day I got the VHS I saw it like two or three times a day for a week. I mean you got Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor trying to be buzz lightyear. You aint seeing that nowhere else.
Yes, it is spoofing Trek (And I am still a total Trekkie) but I don't care, this movie is fun and hilarious. Plus talk about one hell of a cast. Rickman and Shalhoub are my favorites. This movie is awesome.
"I had originally not wanted to see Galaxy Quest because I heard that it was making fun of Star Trek, and then Jonathan Frakes rang me up and said 'You must not miss this movie! See it on a Saturday night in a full theatre.' And I did, and of course I found it was brilliant. Brilliant. No one laughed louder or longer in the cinema than I did."
-Sir Patrick Stewart (a.k.a. Captain Picard) talking about Galaxy Quest.
Thanks for posting! I love this movie & yes ... I agree they were spoofing Trekkies and Star Trek. But who cares -- totally funny. [I was a trekkie too!]
Hans Gruber in Die Hard (1988) was Rickman's first movie role (he'd done very little TV work either). A helluva risk of faith for the producers- casting this short, everyday-looking, middle-aged Brit who had never been before film cameras in such a major role - that role being a charismatic, chameleon-like, German uber-criminal bad-ass.
But even here - spoofing Spock in a sci-fi comedy/parody - his "By Grabthar's hammer" to the dying Quellak still wipes the floor with most of Hollywood
He was, by the late 80s and Die Hard, one of the UK's leading Shakespearean actors. But years of cuts to arts budgets - Thatcher govt, end of the Great London Council etc - meant that many stage actors - even the leads - had to try for Hollywood just to pay their bills. Maggie Smith did Sister Act, for eg, so that she could carry on acting for scale on the stage.
and most stage actors have no problem in hollywood. film work is easier than stage work. In a sense that if you can perform live performing in front of a camera should be a piece of cake.
well i can think of william shatner and patrick stewart and ian mckellan. they all started off as stage actors and transitioned well into film work.my bad film work is hard due to the weird schedule and little time to remember the weird dialogue. Theater work is more manageable since technically you have lots of time to rehearse and remember the lines.
One of the many, Many, MANY things I like about this movie is looking to see all the people who are famous now but who's career was just starting then.
(Missy Pyle was hot then and she's twice as hot now)
