While Doctor Who is a scifi show, it is sooo much more than just that. There are hints of romance, but nothing I would consider soap-opera (and I didn't think there was anything in this video that would have led you to believe it was a soap opera).

Love this song, love the killers, love David....Love this video!! hehe! David was brilliant in Harry Potter, if a little on the crazy side! But it fitted his character really well. He did a good job.
He didn't do it in the book...I dunno if that was just something David Tennant thought to add to the character, or if it was something else of the sort...but I think it makes him seem a bit more insane...*shrugs*
in the books he was trying to fool the ministry of magic and his parents by trying to act completely innocent.. which he did! in the movie david makes him (or the director made him) act like a lunatic the entire way through which completely ruined everything JK had ever said about his character. I mean come on.... the constant licking he did was terribly and unpleasantly comical! get the man some lip balm sheesh!
He was licking his lips to resemble a snake I think. I don't know much about HP but I do remember there being that weird language only evil wizards spoke or something, and it was snake like.
yeah, Parseltoungue...but JKR never mentioned anything about Barty Crouch speaking Parseltongue...but *shrugs* he's a Death Eater, and they're very closley tied with snakes...so that's probably why.
