  • Would you say that engine has more power and torque than the 6.5l turbo diesel

  • i want a 4cyl diesel vehicle cause the time, money and pure wast of energy it takes to keep a p.o.s gas engine running is ridiculous! a diesel get 2x's the mileage, lasts 3 times longer and costs half the money to keep running. they go for 500,000 or more miles before needing overhauled, its just the better choice over all. im sick of wasting time, energy and money on gas engines. also the power a diesel has over a gas engine is twice the torque. a 4cyl is almost equal to a v8 gas engine.

  • i have been reading alot about the isuzu 4cyl diesel, from what i gather it will get a little over 30mpg in a pickup/suv and its a smoother running engine than the 4bt cummins wishes it could be. i dont know from experiance so im asking, would the isuzu 4cyl diesel be the better choice for a daily driver? it doesnt vibrate like the 4bt and it gets slightly better mileage from what i have gathered

  • would it get better milege with an intercooler and a turbo mod? im currently looking for a 1998 or 1999 Chevy Tahoe LT and im thinking about doing a conversion like this to it

  • oh man this was a nice swap! I wouldn't change a thing. Cruising around in Suburban sized vehicle at 26 miles to the gallon and torque enough to do whatever. Just awesome. One of the finest engines ever made!

  • A6bt would get just as much mileage

  • @cammingchevy Maybe

  • @foxsecret what modding if any did you do to get the cummins to fit ive heard its a bit tall and how did and how hard was it to get the tranny to work with it

  • Do yo have a significant vibration problem. Some forums have indicated that there are significant vibration issue with the 4bt vs the 6bt . Does this seem to be an issue?

  • @4bttahoe YES! Which was the reason I sold it.

It vibrated so bad...your teeth would chatter at idle in gear. On the highway you felt nothing.

If one was to do a 4BT swap it's best to use liquid mounts that comes with 4BTs on some applications, Those type of mounts won't fit on a chevy truck frame unfortunately.

  • ok so i have a lot of odd questions. for one do you keep the original trans and rear end? the computer system, do you have to modify the 4BT computer to work with the suburban trans (if you use that trany.) how much would this conversion cost? what kind of difference in power is there? we have a 454 in our suburban 2500and one of the resones we love it is the amount of power.

  • @smithkid1996 I swapped the computer controlled trans for a hydraulic controlled one (4L60E to 700R4)

No computer on the 4BT it's mechanically controlled.

    Conversion costs $5,500

Same power except the original 350 would pull away.

I would go with a 6BT in your suburban, a little less in fuel mileage by a couple of digits but smooth and alot more power.

  • Do you think it's to loud I thought about putting one in my 97 jeep grand cherokee

  • @jeepscometrue Yes it's loud.

  • Do u think it's to loud I thought ab

  • @6detroitdiesel5 but what I'm saying on average....the way people drive now adays they will still get over 200k miles being driven hard. and I'm talking without any replacements yet, such as tranny, rear end, heads, etc.

  • Nice! It kinda sounds like an 8v92. Could you make a vid of you driving it?

  • awesome truck , keep the videos coming my new friend

  • @icedragon99115 Then why did you post that retarded comment making fun of the cummins in the first place? You were talking about how the cummins has it's own problems in the comments above. Name the problems it has. Those 6.2 diesels are good but sure as hell no better than a cummins.

  • @icedragon99115 if he really cared about fuel mileage like that he would have a car...

  • Nice sounding engine. Do you still have the Suburban?

  • @Seattlecarnut Na, sold it in May of 08'

  • @foxsecret No problem.

  • @foxsecret It's too bad that you did. Did you buy another Suburban?

  • @Seattlecarnut Got another suburban and doing a 6.5 diesel conversion because it's a lot easier then the cummins.

  • @foxsecret Ah. Ok. How is it easier than the Cummins?

  • @Seattlecarnut you could get a 6.5 stock on an older suburban

  • @roddyyy524 Sweet! I've always had a fascination with diesel. Although some would complain that it's noisy, I've always liked the noise. Some would complain that it's slower than gasoline. That it may be, but that's ok by me. I'd rather have a vehicle with through the roof torque than vice versa.

  • @Seattlecarnut yeah i still have my permit not a licence yet but i learned how to drive in my dads f250 with a 7.3 in it, hopefully i will be getting a suburban or a truck with a diesel in it for my first truck

  • @roddyyy524 Sweet! I hope you're able to get a good diesel vehicle.

  • @roddyyy524 Sweet! I hope you're able to get a good diesel vehicle that you like.

  • @foxsecret Sweet!

  • @foxsecret hows the 6.5 on gas mileage?

  • @securedpartyflorida Getting 20 around town and highway driving. Same as the 4BT.

  • @foxsecret

    How was the power?

  • @martinez418 Slower the then the 350 previously in the Suburban.

  • @foxsecret

Then why the switch to a Diesel?

  • @martinez418 Had to try it, No one knows how the diesel would perform.

  • I can get 26mpg easily out of my 2WD 6.2, but with a 4BT I bet I could do 40.

    hypermile it, baby

  • i don't think so. still an active topic. google 4bt vs 6.2.

  • @icedragon99115 the 6.2 will never be as reliable as a cummins. nothing but a catepillar comes close. a duramax might have been an easier swap though. nice work.

  • would you recommend putting a 4bt cummins in a 1990 ford bronco 4x4? and is there a way to stop the vibration at idle because im wanting to build me a swapped bronco and drive it alot due to better fuel economy..

  • I have a 2000 Dodge 3500 4x4 w/Cummins 24 valve 6 cyl, w/turbo and 5" exhaust and I think the dif is 4:25 to1. The vehicle has a Powers Contractor's body and the vehicle weighs in at 8800 lbs. Currently I get 12 mpg. Any sugestions to improve the MPGs? I like the sound of your 4BT!!!

  • @1foxtrot70 try highway gears. bigger intake, 50 horse chip..

  • @TheKiLoMonStRoSiTy - On the 2000 Dodge I don't have electronic controlled injectors. As to bigger intake what size turbo should be used? I have changed air filter to a K&N. I got a print out on my truck I have a Dana 80 4.10 dif I can go to 3.73 or 3.50 as gear selections. Would be nice to have a two speed dif with 3.50 on the high side and 4.10 on the low side.

  • @1foxtrot70 why dont you have electronic injectors? try larger air filter....take out stock air box and replace with a tractor filter. more air is better. an additional O/D on your transmission helps fuel mileage tremendously.

  • @TheKiLoMonStRoSiTy - The 2000 Dodge 3500 did not have electronic injectors if I am not mistaken the following years went to electronic injectors. Believe me I would have changed the chip if I could.

  • Would you recomend a smaller vehicle for this type of conversion? I was considering a standard cab chevy silverado 1500 4x4. I was also wondering if you had to do an axle swap?

  • @icedragon99115 ya but 6.2 liters suck they have no power my 78 f-150 pulled one in a truck that had 5.13 gears and all i got is a 400m and 3.50 gears

  • Braaup.... C'mon man, a 5.9 six cyl cummins is a 6bt soooo....... A 4bt must be a...... ??? You guessed it, a 3.9 4 cyl cummins

  • I'm sticking a 6.2 diesel in my 68 GMC C2500 and i looked it up but with a NP435 and 4:11s i should get around 22. There is guys that got around 26, and 1 with 30 mpg from a 6.2, but he had like a 700r4 and like 2:90 rears.

  • DANG! How much did this engine cost you? And I am familiar with the cummins, however, what does 4BT stand for?

  • @braaup just an idea.. 4 Banger Turbo?

  • Whats up man cool set up, but I have a question, we have the same setup on a 89 chevy 1500 and I would like to know what ac compressor you are running on your setup, you can see our 4BT by looking up motorsports954 on here. Thanks

  • Whats up man cool set up, but I have a question, we have the same setup on a 89 chevy 1500 and I would like to know what ac compressor you are running on your setup, you can see our 4BT by looking up motorsports954 on here. Thanks

  • Sounds like a nice diesel engine. How about a drive, see how she goes?

  • Is it true you can bolt a 4BT to a TH400 Chevy transmission?

  • 26mpg on a suburban? damn they should do this with more chevys

  • @icedragon99115 The 3.9 cummins didn't have the issues as the "58" block of the 5.9 I disagree the cummins would break as much as a 6.2 However I would own a 6.2 again because I know how to take care of them. I work on em' too but a jet engine mechanic full time.

  • @icedragon99115 I don't think you can get 26 mpg out of a 6.2 unless it's fluke of a motor. 20-22 tops from a 6.2 I owned them. However, you can't get the durability of a Cummins from a 6.2

  • @foxsecret I have a 1976 chevy short wheelbase pickup, I put a 6.2 diesel engine into it and it gets around 30 MPG highway. I'm running a 700r4 transmission with a lockup torque converter and a 2:73 rear gear.

  • @foxsecret not if ur building hp, but if u keep them stock a 6.2 or 6.5 will go well over 200,000miles no problem.

  • Where would i find a 4BT?

  • @THX5569 craigslist, diesel forums, just look around. Some are in old bread vans

  • I would think you'd find one at a scrap yard/ auto dismantler's where they break up trucks and vans

  • This is a very neat swap. Looks like they throw 4bts into more than just jeeps. do you have a writeup on how to go about this swap?

  • AWESOME rig

     5*video

  • One Word SWEET< Also Starmanskye is a Fag

  • The next time you want to argue dependabilty bring some experice to the table or shut the hell up.

  • So you have been arguing relabilty with me and you dont know what the hell your talking about? I drive 7,000 miles a month and I keep my vehicles till the wheels fall off. You want to talk about rough roads I live in a little town in Texas witch have roads that should tear the axle out of the vehicle but dont. I live in the back of 20 acres and have a driveway that is longer than most roads there and that is dirt with pot holes that would swallow your micro machine..

  • nice job- I have a 94 dodge with cummins 2wd & got around 26mpg on the highway doing about 70-75 the whole way, so its possible with the 5.9 cummins too

  • My next swap would be a 5.9 because they are smooth and have more power.

Funny you say yours get that good of mileage...why can't these new diesels stuffed with electronics get any better but actually get worst in most cases. I like my diesels mechanical.

  • too much politics & emissions crap-they load them down just like gas vehicles-free them up of all the smog junk & use bigger exhaust so they can breathe

  • Ironically, liberal communist politicians that put emissions crap to so called save the environment end up doing opposite to what they are intending. For instance, my dad says my 5.7L V8 gasoline van could run a lot better WITHOUT the catalytic converter. Diesels today are worse for the environment because of all that emissions crap which makes the vehicle get worse mpg. Those politicians don't give a dam about the environment, but just hate diesels. Not like I care about the environment either

  • diesel engines are less harmful, they have far lower emissions of CO2 than petrol (gasoline for americans). For some reason there is still an unfounded prejudice against diesel power in america. Over here there used to be a lot of hatred towards diesels but then people realised how much better fuel economy they have, and the newer diesels are way quieter and smoother than the old fashoined ones

  • I agree. Where do you like? I'm in the USA.

  • I live in Ireland. Diesel engines have become very popular here because they use so much less fuel. The actual diesel fuel itself is cheaper by about 15 cent per litre, and the annual tax here is now a lot cheaper for new diesel cars because it's based on how bad each car's CO2 emissions are

  • Where do you live, LOL!!

  • The prejudice is ALL political and media shit! Not to mention like 70% , (give or take) of diesel fuel per gallon sold today is taxed. Oh and my relatives 1981 mercedes 300sd turbo diesel is very quiet , by my opinion. When I got in the car, I could barely hear the engine.

  • Well from conversations with a few different americans while i was there last, it seems that some people have some very strange and mis-informed views, while others are far more sensible. I am constantly amazed though at the ability of american engines (mostly 90s models and older) to produce so little power in relation to their size, like V8s producing sun 200hp, for example 80s camaros producing 112hp and 145 hp from their 2.8 and 5.0 liter gas engines respectively, must be hugely inefficient

  • By the book, my 1993 5.7L 350V8 Chevy high top conversion van has 210hp with 300ft-Ib of torque. I swear to God, that on the "epa" (fueleconomy DOT gov) website, it showed my van getting 15mpg city and 19mpg highway in the past, not 11c/16h like it shows now. My personal mpg test is 14.7mpg in the city & about 14.1mpg on the highway. My hightop roof alone takes off 2mpg from the highway test, besides the extra interior weight which takes another 2mpg. I could tow a 6000Ib trailer if I wanted.

  • Oh as for hugely inefficient, do you ever remember hearing about what people did to those OLD Ford model T's. There top speed was like 25mph, but people like us took off the air filter, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, muffler tube, muffler&made those things go like 80mph. It's funny, I've heard people put on a K&N air on their random motorcycles and get 10+mpg BETTER,how about that! Wouldn't you think if my van got short as a normal car&only weighed ~3000Ib, it would get like 30mpg or better?

  • What tranny did you use? Motor Mounts? Electrical?

  • Tranny= 700R4 built for diesel.

Motor mounts same as the step van mounts.

Electricl? Hook a power line to the injection pump.

  • what did the 4bt come stock in?

  • It came in step vans (bread trucks, etc.)

  • Hard to believe the video is about a Cummins 4BT swap with all the shit I see here in the postings.Fighting doesnt solve anything, lets talk about diesels!

  • That thing sounds like a deuce and a half. Too cool. How much for the entire conversion?

  • The idle sounds a little high, unless my ears deceive me. My cousins own a diesel shop up here in Oregon and after I swapped in a 4BT into my 3500 Chevy pickup, I brought it to them to have them take a look at it. They told me it should be idling just a little under a thousand.

Nice rig by the way. :) I'm getting the same mpg as you too

  • Still had some adjustments to make. This video was taken right after it was driven on the street for the first few times.

  • do the motor mounts match up ? having read your other comments did that 6000 price tag include buying the motor ? rebuild ? I have a 92 k5 4x4 I would like to do the same ... great install buy the way

  • Yes, the price tag did include the motor, new performance tranny, many mods to the oil pan, custom brackets, different turbos and exhaust manifolds and a rebuilt injection pump. All adds up!

  • is the motor all stock or have you done something to it?

  • Mostly stock except had a 1st gen Dodge H1C turbo and pump turned up.

  • what was the suburbans former engine?..all i can say is that is a sweet and clean swap!

  • It was a 350 with 200k miles on it.

  • It looks like the intercooler tube runs over the valve covers like the earlier 6bts????

  • No intercooler. Went from the turbo to the intake. Would've liked an intercooler.

  • I belive you could have used a dodge transmission out of a mid 90s 5.9 diesel and then just made up a driveshaft and made mount fabrications in a 2wheel drive application would this have saved you money

  • I weighed that option and came to the conclusion it was easier to use the stock 700R4 and transfer case. The dodge transfer case would have dropped further then the chevy.

The 700R4 was in the stock location with stock linkage so it was one less thing to worry about and it worked out good.

  • did you swap the trans or do you have an adapter from a p30 or something and if you do have the chevy trans what convertor did you use?

  • Swapped in a 700R4 and used the adapter from the P30 van. worked out better because the engine tilt allowed it to clear the bottom of engine block to clear the 4WD third member by half an inch. It had a modified diesel converter with the mounting pads located further out to match the 4BT's TH400 flexplate.

  • Thats awsome i have the same adapter and trans do you know where i can get the diesel converter? and i thank you for your response love the swap vary well done im in the process of pulling the body off my truck and making the mounts

  • You will have to visit a torque converter shop so they can make one for you. You can get a diesel torque converter from any trans shop however, it will will have a small bolt pattern on it and will not fit the TH400 pattern on the 4bt's flexplate. the torque converter place will relocate the mounting pads then assemble the torque covnerter for balance.

  • awesome job!

  • hi what trans are you running? is it a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?

  • It's a 700R4 transmission.

  • yes um can u tell me what parts you needed to do the whole conversion

  • Awesome idea

  • is it a v4

  • no such thing as a v4...unless you meant inline 4...

  • Sure there is, the Saab V4. Dude, use google next time...

  • Yes there is its called a Wisconsin W41770 used on stump grinders but it wasnt diesel they produced hp from 20-35

  • Crank that injection pump up =) just kiddin... sweet ride you got though

  • I installed a 1 gen 5.9 turbo (H1C) with a 12 cm2 housing. Ran good.

    Kept the injector pump stock.

  • that is awesome

  • with all that space in front of the engine why did you not put a intercooler in the intake system?

  • After the electric fans were installed the room available for an intercooler disappeared. A Buick Grand National style intercooler was to be installed.

  • Sounds nice.

  • What is the power, cylibders etc on this kind of engine?

  • awsome

  • Awesome i want to do a 4BT swap on my 99' durango. How much the engine cost you?

  • Cost about $6,000 for engine and all other mods to go along with it.

  • Sweet truck man how much did that swap cost? I wanna do that to my 88 K30.

  • Cost about $6,000 for engine and all other mods to go along with it.

  • where did you get the motor from?

  • Bought it from a fella in the local area.

  • What transmission do you have in it?

  • 700R4 with a diesel converter.

  • I love my 6000 lbs politically incorrect FAT SUV! The bigger the better, I love em' large!

Really, if you drove across the state of Kansas and did it in a small car one would go crazy. Driving in my FAT SUV like this Burb' makes it for a smooth ride, and cruise comfortably.

BTW, I have ran Bio diesel though this and the the exhaust had a weird smell to it. I know it could get better then 26 mpg with some more refining but I sold it.

  • I think you have the wrong idea of small cars, lets be honest, there aren't many in the states but Europe has been building, developing and refining small cars for decades. The result is a small compact lightweight car, spacious interior with all your creature comforts, most are just as safe as large cars (5 star in Euro N-cap) and offer 60+ MPG not to mention good performance etc. Look at the new Fiat 500, that is a beautiful small car, is as safe as they get and should do over 70 MPG.

  • I will agree that many European small cars are a different breed from our small cars, but I don't care what kind of safety rating they try to propagate onto the public, in an accident I would rather be in a Suburban than a Fiat 500 any day of the week.

  • Well the safety ratings i Europe are stricter than those in the US anyway. Besides you would be just as unsafe in a Suburban than in a 500 if you hit a bus, or caught fire or went off a cliff. How do you know what kind of accident you're going to have?

  • In my eyes the US has more strict safety demans than europe got.

  • Not true. The European tests are different and so are not directly comparable. European cars tend to be smaller so the regulations are stricter in general. US tests don't even have pedestrian tests, and new tests in Europe must have a seat that prevents whiplash now.

  • I live in europe and over the yers i have always noticed that US cars are mutch safer and have stricter emissions.

The only thing i will agree with you on are the seats on older us cars, they are to small in the neck protection.

  • How can cars that emit 4 to 5 times more carbon and do 40 to 60 MPG LESS be stricter on emissions? Safety tests are different so not comparable but i think most safety features were bought in by European manufactures and then applied by US ones.

  • If you look around in europe and see all the oil smoking crappy non emission restricted cars you woud understand.

And emission controls are a joke (thank god)

  • Only older vehicles, all cars must pass an emissions test EVERY year to say they're fit for the road (even older ones). There are newer emission restrictions coming into force this year (i think) called Euro 5 etc. All cars must comply or they won't be sold. Fiat already have two or three engines that comply, they were made two years before the deadline! Fiat are pretty good with the environment stuff, very good in fact, they're the best.

  • My olds 74mod 350 gas was at emission test but the result was amazing clean emissions?? Now i drive a 79mod 350 diesel and since its a diesel i dont need emission test on it and that suits me well.

  • So despite America always going on about how strict their emissions are, you don't have to have an emissions test every year? How come?

  • I live in norway / europe.

Many cars from early 80 and older dont even have seatbelts in rear seat.

Example: If you buy a toyota or bmw in the US its not the same car that they are selling in the EU. In EU there is car control only on trucks every year, cars are every second year and its done by local shops.

  • is it that hard of a swap?

  • It is at first but once you do another then it's easy.

  • Awesome work man!

  • That is the conversion i want to do ! only change the turbo to smaller ar housing to speed it up and ad oil the the diesel to bring up the BTU's and adjust the pump accordingly and expect mid 30's for MPG !!!!

  • I put a v8 Caterpillar diesel engine in my 1993 Cadillac Deville.I get 479HP,while getting 32MPG!...My fuel for it is free..I get my free fuel from McDonalds,BK,and DQ..veggie oil is the best, and I make money for taking there used oil...so overall, nice SUV,and a great video!P.S...since you put a diesel in your Chevy now...get your free fuel from McDonalds,or anyother place that uses cooking oil...they pay you to get rid of it,and you can use to power your Chevy!

  • which CAT did you use ?(3208?) which trans and diff. gear ?

  • Yep the Caterpillar 3208 v8,with a 6spd Allison trans,with Dana66 in the front,and a 2006 Silverado rear axle[[locking dif]]tight space,but we got her under the hood.

  • no such thing as a dana 66, and cat V8s are big engines. big dozers have 8s in the.

  • Sorry, missed typed.Ill put up a video later to show you that your wrong. So what are you saying?...you dont believe me?

  • In the near future I am planning a ranger conversion. What transmission did you back it up with. Right now I am stuck on a NV4500 but I want an automatic.

  • I just used a 700R4 that's built to handle the torque. Plus I wanter to use a non-electronic tranny.

  • Yes you're right! it's getting ridiculous. There may be strikes soon regarding taxes in general, especialy on fuel as the taxes are very high. Even in my super eco car i still spend around £25 which is around $50 a week on diesel despite the low miles i travel. As tax on fuel increases here, it has a knock on effect on everything transported by trucks i.e. everything! food especialy. It can now cost up to £600 or $1200 to fill a truck with fuel in the UK and there are thousands. God help us...

  • I drive a Fiat Panda 1.3 Turbo Diesel, check my vids if you want. It's fast but frugal and does at least 52 MPG even if you drive fast round town! 78 MPG on a long run. It's true what you say, the government uses global warming as an excuse to increase taxes in this country. For example if somebody drove your car in UK, they would be expected to pay $800 a year road tax, where as mine is $70. It's based on the cars emmisions. Also tax on diesel/petrol is around 85p a litre now! It's very unfair.

  • The Smart car is being imported in the US but there only a gas version offered, no diesel. It's hideous that the diesel version won't be imported, It will get much better mileage. It will be sold in Canada, but not the US. I mentioned this to show how stupid the government has gotten when dealing with the free market. Our government officials don't have a problem flying around in big jets on the taxpayers dole. Plus you should see the cars they drive. You all need a tax revolt in England there!

  • The reason for high gas costs is lack of drilling and refineries. The population growth in this country has surpassed oil production. Not some conspiracy theory of Bush making money off oil. If there is anything idiotic, the government makes more on a gallon of gasoline then the oil companies what do you thin about that??? The oil companies do all the hard work and make 9 cents a gallon and the federal government comes along and takes 18 cents a gallon...pretty idiotic huh???

  • Thanks for pointing that out about oil prices. Almost got in a political battle but this is not the place. Nice truck btw, I have an '89 Suburban with a newer 6.5 diesel and

35" Super swampers. Got a newer burb like yours too, are those conversions expensive?

  • Uh...I wouldn't go telling too many people you get 26 MPG man, thats appauling. I get 72 but my car will do almost 80 MPG. Some european cars do over 100 MPG believe it! The US government needs to takle cars that get poor gas milage. Glad you're making some sort of effort to be fair but imagine you paid $9.70 a US gallon (or $11.65 a UK gallon) like we do in UK. Global warming is a priority now in my opinion.

  • Appreciate your comment but I disagree with more government involvement in our society. I truly believe government needs to stay out of the free market because every law they pass to supposedly make it better in society ends up causing more harm then good. The free market will come up with solutions not the government. It's been proven here problem is, were going the wrong direction. BTW, I do not believe there is global warming. What kind of car do yo have that gets that kind of mileage?

  • Do you realize that 26MPG is great mileage coming from a TRUCK?

  • No, we have a 4x4 in Europe that does 67 MPG or 55 miles per US gallon, more than double the truck in the vid. For me, i get 68 US MPG in my car, but it's not a truck!

  • The "4x4" is an ATV?

  • No, 5 door hatchback, seats 4, very good off road with a 1.3 turbo diesel engine. It's called the Fiat Panda Cross, search it! The Seat Ibiza does 88 MPG or 73 US MPG which is the best economy in UK, but this is 2wd

  • That particular "SUV" is really a truck like the one in the video?

The Suburban here can handle over 2000lbs of payload or tow a 8000-10000lb trailer (depending on the class of Suburban). Seats 6-9 depending on the configuration. This thing easily weighs 6000lbs by itself.

The engine is 3.9L in displacement which is three times as big as the engine in the little Fiat.

You would be hard pressed to find a comparable vehicle in the UK I imagine.

  • No it's not similar in anyway at all really, i was comparing it for economy reasons, the only similarity is that it's 4x4. We don't have any large SUV's in the UK due to tax and fuel price reasons. It's not logical to make a heavy car anymore due to environmental reasons. Most cars and trucks are diesel too, 90% of large cars (up to 2.0l) are diesel. Our fuel was $14 a gallon a few months back, it's dropped to $6 now but it's sure to go back up, hence why we need economy.

  • A medium-large size gasoline car like a BMW 3 series or Volkswagen Passat doesn't do much better than this big diesel Suburban.
