I know its great acting but for me its skating the edge of comedy genius. The pathos of an anguished Sarf London accent swearing away to the strings of a Roy Orbison classic.. in the movie you wanted him to get his come uppance and that's what made it even more funny .. for me anyway.

The director, Mark Hermann, is a man who uses music (and sound) SO damn well generally - see also Brassed Off, the hilarious Purely Belter and (the decidedly less funny but equally superb) Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
