@JML110183 try John Doe, "the Losing Kind" it has that progressive country blues feel you may be looking for. To be honest tho, there ain't much that can be compared to this. This jam stands alone, I maybe bi-est being raised on highway 41 and all.
What an awesome sounding Martin guitar! I have a Little Martin and it also sounds awesome when just picking some blues. Martin guitars sound great for blues. They don't sound too acoustic-y for blues.
Dano...agreed, Warren gives them such a great combined element of guitar playing and vocal ability. Warren Haynes is one of my top 3-4 guitarists, absolutely awesome.
Thanks for this - I'm older, and a bit more shopworn, too - but I've carried an honest-to-Ghu Walking Liberty Dollar in my pocket for *years* because of this song.
HIs voice kinda sounds spent, but he really pulled it off. hard living takes it's toll on every part of you. I see it in the mirror sometimes...I'm sure I'll be seeing it more and more.
Makes me wanna go cruisin' for awhile.. Not at midnight. I did that last week and it was cold as shit on my way back from Sac. Ironic how two of the original member rode and died in motorcycle accidents.. RIP. Errbody else ride safe. As far as comments made about the south bein' right, what exactly are you talking about? The slavery issue wouldn't make sense.. The Allman bros drummer (Lamar Williams) was black so I don't think that was the case he was makin'. Keep the rubber side down, riders
well i wouldnt commit to where you will live for the rest of your life right out of high school. also, keep in mind that not everyone in the south is exactly like the allman brothers.
dude, i am from the south, and the true southerners are great people, thats why its called southern hospitality.. the food is great also.. get you some of that fried chicken, biskets and sausage gravey, and fried tators, wash it down with a glass of sweet tea...
i retired now, and moved to hawaii (7-2007) but boy! do i miss the south.
good luck to you, and keep your attitude like it is now, and you will do fine.
p.s read some info on the civil war, and u will see the south was right!!
This song smells to: "Buffalo" Chicken wings, Ribs, leather, road, jack Daniels, weed, cow shit, and beer!!....and that's Guuud! I'm got to change oil my pants.... Long live to the South!
The kids just don't know nothing no more.
Fire it up and enjoy the music. The spirit lives on.

I've always loved this song performed live way more than the studio version.
It almost seems as if there is a touch of psychedelia thrown in here and there in the live versions. And that's just awesome =)

the sound dickie makes at exactly 1:45 is unbelievable considering it is coming from an acoustic guitar.
