I have been told that the motor speed controllers should be brought outside of the motor arms. What do you think of this? I have noticed some heating in one of them.
@themainproblem My electronics are from the Gaui 330XS and I am not sure what is different in the original Gaui 500X. After a 10minutes flight I notice that the tubular frame is hot and it could be a problem if your esc's are higher than the ones that I have on my quad. Try to find out what would be the max temp for your esc's.
@claudiusgalo Thanks for the reply. I will look into that. I do know that the ESC's are rated for 18 amps. Also, do you know if Lipo batteries pose a fire hazard? My next door neighbor says they do but in your opinion is this accurate?
@themainproblem Here is the difference, mine has 10Amps ESC's, for sure will not heat up as the ones you have in yours, but it all depends in other factors such as: ambient temp; high current rate and etc. The Lipo's can catch fire under the following circumstances: short circuit; overcharge or use wrong setup and if you crash and damage the battery. I personally never had any issues with Lipo's and I would recommend you to buy a more sophisticated charger (Imax B6 would be a good start).
This is a very nice video! I just bought a 500X and it has the FY-91 gyro along with a compass/gps module. My problem is that I don't know how to fly it yet. :-)
@themainproblem If you take a look in the others videos that I posted early this year, you will notice how long it took me to learn to fly the quad. Buy some props and good luck!
@claudiusgalo Thanks for the words of encouragement. It means a lot and helps me. I'll be keeping the Gaui propeller factory busy for quite some time. :-)
@stormranger6 I am trying to practice everyday using a 3 ft tether to a tent stake. And my flying skills have improved a little bit although I don't think that the FY-91Q is calibrating correctly. So far I have damaged 8 propellers, the guard hoop and 3 motor mounts. I added landing legs the other day to keep the battery from impacting the ground so much. Today will be more practice and I'm going to go get another battery.
What camera are you using for the flight?

@claudiusgalo by the way, I keep my Lipo batteries inside a safe that I bought specifically for that.

Nice and smooth. Your video is better than others I have seen using that frame, would you tell me what your gyro setting is? thanks
