@OversteerVideos I don't know I didn't want to take it apart completely. I think the Russians are just jealous, because maybe the AK is theirs, but because their strict gun control laws, they can't buy AK-s in their country.
I'm saving up for one right now, where'd you buy it from? This is gonna be my second rifle I already own a .22, but have always been in love with the design of this gun. also wheres the best place to buy ammo?
Man, so stuck on whether to get the 74 or 47. At first I was dead set on the 47 but some deal on surplus ammo had me looking at the 74 and I am loving it. The ones I'm looking at, the 74 is more expensive for some reason =/
You can take it apart farther than that, come on man! Do a proper field strip! Muzzle brake, cleaning kit, cleaning rod, gas tube, lower hand guard. :)
@thatmaninblack TacticalGunGuy is right. I was mislead by the title of this video. I'm looking for a video on the complete disassembly of an AK-74. I have an Interarms, which I also purchased from Atlantic Firearms. I'd like to disassemble it and transport it in a large A.L.I.C.E. pack when SHTF.
@thatmaninblack I made a mistake. Forget the barrel since you need some large tool gunsmiths have to remove the barrel pin. I looked it up. I apologize.
Why didn't you take the bolt out of the carrier? That would have made this a really great video.
And what's with all the douchebag Russians in the comments?

@Orlmagfan12 Atlanticfirearms. :) You can buy ammo for it online. I don't know if local stores sell 5.45x39 .

@EverythingisFire
Well 74 is an improved version of 47. And it uses different ammo.
(all this apply only to original AK; ak-ripoffs are too inconsistent)
SEThatered 6 months ago
@SEThatered
What'd they improve on if you don't mind answering? All I recognized was the lightning cuts on the furniture and of course the different caliber.
EverythingisFire 6 months ago
@EverythingisFire
Improvements are indeed not-so-big.
The details of 47 are more "loose" and a bit further away than in 74
(this was to ensure function in mud and sand).
The gas piston group is improved (in 47 it rattled, when shaken, because it was that loose).
Then there are minor shifts in the trigger group: partially due to the calibre, partially to avoid jams.
And of course many details were made thinner in order to reduce overall weight.
Not so much changes, but rather "polished version".

@SEThatered
Ahh, I understand. Thanks for the explanation!

Missed the cleaning rod, gas tube and removing the bolt from the carrier. It's not even a complete field stripping.

@thatmaninblack How about completely disassembling it? Remove the butt stock, handguards, and barrel.
