Why is this guy not super-famous? He is AMAZING!! I saw him playing in the Nat King Cole "Natureboy" clip & I've been hooked ever since! He is right up there with Wes Montgomery,Kenny Burrell & young George Benson (w/Brother Jack McDuff). Ashby Forever!

If you want to learn this, there's a much better version of him playing I got rhythm with charlie parker etc on Jazz at the Philharmonic - lots of the same licks, but much better imo. I haven't been able to find a transcription though sorry

if put on paper, this music was meant to be read! tab cannot do the rythm justice...
likely Irving didn't read too well...most of the great improvisers don't.but that's my guess, clearly not based in fact...so learn the solo by ear...
