  • Hi,

    According to my Funk & Wagnells, you're mispronouncing the word. It's not "capreecious," but "capricious." Check it out.

  • I'm English and I'd also say "capricious" instead of "capreecious". So it's not an American thing then?

  • It's like prestigious, also pronounced the two ways. I think the confusion comes from the sound of the i in the root words: prestige, caprice.

  • You can pronounce it both ways actually, check it out:

    ca·pri·cious

    Pronunciation: kə-'pri-shəs, -'prē-
