@Linear500 Listen to 0:58-1:06, definitely auto-tune. The response time isn't very fast but it's there. I love this band don't get me wrong, but watch ANY live video. Bernard NEVER sings like that well in tune.
i found this version and i think that is amazing!! Perfect kiss!! i had never listened something like that! this song and Bizarre love triangle are the best!
Phenomenal version! I recommend their BBC | Live in Concert version on CD as well. One of my favorite bands of all time. Long live Tony Wilson!!! FAC51!!!!
@dashj1970 Just a real fan of great players and not programmers. Love players that go out and lay their craft out for all to see, not go out in a safety harness. Used to go out and use computers myself and it left me with such a cheap and cheesy feeling. Once I left that kind of playing (on stage that is) I never looked back.
@pcgg101 Yes they do and so does Ashlee Simpson and so does dozens of other pieces of crap. The inventor of "The Pet Rock" made a lot of money but you don't see inventors striving to be just like them.
I make a descent living as a studio musician and the occasional tour. But as you say your friend wins more money than I do, so by your standards he is the better musician. My suggestion for you would be find out which band makes the most money and then buy all their records. Enjoy!
@Versul1 I can partly agree that some bands over rely on sequencers and it can be very sterile, new order always have guitar and or bass to keep it rocking, also they can go frm playing a track like this to Ceremony a totaly synth/sequencer free song, they were never slaves to the sequencer or robots, just bloody good musicians that used the tools available to make great music.
@JedStephens1968 I admit that my opinion may have been formed too soon. I read a Craigslist ad looking for a keyboardist for a high paying New Order Tribute Band stating that you must be a heavy duty programmer and good with Protools because we pride ourselves on sounding just like them. Then I came here and saw the keyboardist playing very little of the keyboard work. I just knew if I had to do this I would end up feeling like a scumbag. But I admit I didn't explore past this video.
@Versul1 The irony of that ad is that pro tools didn't exist for most of New Orders career! to sound just like them you'd need to be an expert at analogue synths, pre midi sequencing and knowing how to recover from it all falling to peices in the middle of a song. Everything is so much safer now and the music suffers for it.
@JedStephens1968 This tribute band would probably use Protools because of the flakiness of MIDI. As far as MIDI goes New Order debut album came out in 1981 which is the year MIDI was implemented so I would assume they used MIDI for the bulk of their time as a band. It was the decade of the wall of sound, every keyboardist was chaining several keyboards together. To my shame I did this as well.
@Versul1 Midi talks started in 81, was announced to the public in 82, first midi synths available 83, most 80-85 new order stuff (including blue monday) was made on pre midi synths and drum machines using home made sequencers.
is it me or does hooky look well hacked off and not enjoying himself all the way through this?

Peter Hook is one of the best bass player's of all time. You have to include Les Claypool of Primus & Flea of RHCP.

Heavily programed sequences and overly used arpeggiators make for one boring band to watch. Good thing they have flashing lights.
