  • Bloodhorse quote, 1999. "Easy Goer MET those dreams and expectations embodied in his powerful frame and authored an unforgettable Hall of Fame champion career, and will always be mentioned in the same breath with the GREATEST of ALL TIME."

  • Easy Goer had so many, many top ten all time performances in his career, and had these top ten all time performances at every distance he ran, 6.5F,7F,8F,9F,10F,12F!

  • Easy Goer, a Phenom. Easy Goer, just towering and overwhelming performance after towering and overwhelming performance in his phenomenal career. What a sad and tragic, early loss it was to lose him so young.

  • Easy Goer, one of the rare all time great Hall of Fame champions who combined wicked record speed at a mile(fastest 3 yr old mile of all time in 1:32.2) and at shorter distances, right on the 6.5 track record at two, fastest 7f of the year in Florida, among the top 5 fastest Champagnes of all time at 8f,with a thoroughly brilliant and supreme stamina to run the second fastest Belmont Stakes of all time, among the fastest runnings of all time in the Whitney at 9f,Travers at 10f,Suburban at 10f.

  • 1989 Preakness, one of the true all time great races with two of the best horses of our time,

  • I have a grand son of Easy Goer and I love it ! :))

  • Happy birthday to Easy Goer, one of the most phenomenal champion's of all time.

  • I loved Easy Goer more pasionately than I have ever loved a racehorse in my teenage years. Opening up the paper and finding out he died-I bawled like a baby. Too young to die, and how do you know an animal is so allergic to a bee sting untill the unfortunate happens? He deserved to preside in Secretariat's stall!

  • @downhomesunset Strangely enough, Nasrullah, Bold Ruler, Secretariat, and Easy Goer all lived in that box and all of them died young (none of them lived past 19), and either abruptly (Easy Goer, Nasrullah) or slowly and painfully (Bold Ruler, Secretariat). Unbridled also lived in that box and died following colic surgery at age 14. Let's hope Eddington has better luck.

  • Easy Goer was one of the rare Hall of Fame champions who combined blistering, record speed at a mile along with a thoroughly brilliant and genuine stamina. One of the rare ones indeed.

  • Thank you for posting this. As a child of the eighties I deeply miss dear Jim McKay

  • Easy Goer's record three year old mile of all time performance in 1:32.2, thrashing Secretariat's mark by one full second, a tick off the world record of Dr. Fager, and his complete domination, monster Belmont Stakes performance are the two greatest performances since Spectacular Bid in 1980.

  • The greatest races I've ever seen with when Easy Goer & Sunday Silence where going at it..........I don't think racing will ever regain that kinda excitement again....RIP

  • You were like my Son . I Cried so many times Watching your legendary Performances .There shall no Horse like you & there were not like you before ,Though i love secretariat, northern Dancer ( you had blood line from him too), Citation,Man o war etc.

  • @lahore2vancouver Easy Goer didn't have any Northern Dancer blood in him!!!

  • @downhomesunsetYou are correct, but I think possibly he meant that Native Dancer was Easy Goer's great grand sire, and Native Dancer was Northern Dancer's broodmare sire, but your are correct.

  • Easy Goer was something extremely special! A legend in action. He is missed by so many.

  • He will be missed. My favorite horse of all time! Those were the years I could think of nothing else but horse racing. What rivalry, what heart! I will cherish the photos I have of me grazing him...as well as those of Ferdinand, Forty Niner, Mr Prospector, Nijinsky...I only wish I had gotten to meet Secretariat.

  • Happy birthday to EASY GOER! One of the best ever. And will never be forgotten.

  • Indeed, the great Easy Goer's birthday is today, March 21. Happy birthday to a very very special champion Easy Goer.

  • Happy Birthday to one of the Greatest Ever- Easy Goer!!

  • I remember reading it in the paper and I couldnt stop crying-so young

  • EASY GOER- A fitting tribute to a true Hall of Fame champion Easy Goer. He had so so many monster performances.

  • They don't come much greater and any more special than Easy Goer. He really did have it all. A thoroughbred champion who was extraordinary and magnificent.

  • What a great tribute to the great Easy Goer. Easy Goer was something out of this world special. A Hall of Fame horse from the moment he started his career to the moment he was retired.

  • 1989 will always be dominated by both Easy Goer and Sunday Silence. They were and will be the talk of racing for ages to come. Sadly as time goes by, both are now dead....and we can only remember (fondly) of some great races by great rivals...

  • Easy Goer will always be mentioned in the same breath with some of the best of all time.

  • If Easy Goer won the Triple Crown he is right there with Secretariat. The debate would be who's the best between them two IMO. Easy Goer like so many said here & myself included was super strong & fast through all distances ran. IMO opinion Big Red is better. But even with them 2 TC losses I still think he is right there in the top 5 easy.

  • Easy Goer was one of the most special champion thoroughbreds anybody could see. He really did have that utter magnificence and extraordinary speed and stamina from 6 furlongs to 12 furlongs. And that is a rarity, alot of horses just don't have that.

  • Easy Goer was truly one of the rare Hall of Fame greats who was blessed with blistering, record speed, along with a brilliant and genuine stamina! One of the rare ones indeed. And he had it from the moment he stepped foot on a racetrack to the moment he retired.

  • EASY GOER, truly one of the most special and ultra talented Hall of Fame champions this sport has witnessed. Ultra ultra champion. He could do anything. Except when Pat Day rode him awful awful bad.

  • @johnnyblack1974

I loved Easy Goer. Probably my favorite horse. But for whatever reason, could not win a race outside New York..lol..

Shug said that running EG in the 1 1/2 Jockey Club Gold Cup(now a 1 1/4) for his last prep before the Classic was a mistake, and he really didn't train him that hard after.

SS ran in the 1 1/4 Super Derby at LA Downs as his prep and trained beautifully leading up to the Classic..

    Charlie>>>>>Shug

  • Easy Goer, a magnificent Hall of Fame champion thoroughbred who is missed dearly.

  • dave's DOWN THE STRETCH gives me goose pumps

  • There just are such a rare, rare few like Easy Goer, Before or since he was around. A hall of fame horse in every sense of the word. And he is missed, and will always be missed.

  • Easy Goer was such a special, special, special horse. Just unlimited talent, speed, stamina. We alll miss him.

  • Easy Goer, what an extraordinary thoroughbred. Easy Goer ran the greatest mile of all time by any three year old, he ran the greatest Belmont Stakes of all time sans Secretariat. And then went on to that unprecedented campaign. Wow.

  • Easy Goer is the greatest horse since Spectacular Bid, the best horse in thirty years. Record speed at a mile, stamina with the best of them. It truly was terrible and tragic that he passed away so young.

  • Easy Goer, hail to the Hall of Fame legend Easy Goer! What a great

  • Facts: Easy Goer can beat SS on his best under a mile and quarter, but SS can't beat Easy Goer ov er a distance of mile and quarter, even if Easy Goer runs his worse race. Forget the mile and under as well, SS will not stand a chance. SS is however master of tactician and that is from a well groomed trainer.

  • Easy Goer would be in the Top 5 or 10 of all time if not for a few bad,bad rides..Having said that, he is still mentioned in the same breath with some of the greats to have ever ran anyway. What a tragedy to lose him so young!

  • EASY GOER- LONG live the LEGEND of the GREAT Easy Goer!! Tremendou loss to lose a legend at the age of eight! Never forgotten!

  • Easy Goer- Belmont, Whitney, Travers, Woodward and Jockey Club Gold Cup in succession! Truly special, amazing champion.

  • Easy Goer, it was such a terrible loss to lose such a great champion at such a young age. He will never be forgotten.

  • Easy Goer is one of the greatest horses to ever look through a bridle!!

  • I think that YOU are real sad spam1237!!

  • Easy Goer was a sensational Hall of Fame Champion, to run the greatest mile performance of all time by any three year old, then to run the greatest mile and a half Belmont Stakes performance of all time sans Secretariat, and to then go on to that historic, remarkable campaign after that. Extra extraordinary.

  • Easy Goer, a Hall of Fame thoroughbred from the moment he stepped foot on a race track. Record speed, along with spectacular stamina. So sad that he passed away so young, what a great!

  • The facts are that these 2 great colts deserved each other..............Easy goer did have his day in the belmont and it was only appropriate sunday silence was second. These 2 great colts are forever linked and made 89' a year for the ages.

  • No horse will ever accomplish that sequence of the Jockey Club Gold Cup, Woodward, Whitney,Travers and Belmont Stakes. That is just some beyond special. Easy Goer was a true great.

  • Easy Goer had the Greatest 3YO Campaign since Secretariat!! He is the Only Horse Ever to Reel off that Quintuple Crown of the Belmont Stakes-G1, Travers-G1,Whitney-G1, Woodward-G1 and Jockey Club Gold Cup-G1!! In addition to him running the Fastest Mile EVER run by ANY 3YO in History and the 2nd Fastest Test of the Champion Belmont Stakes ever run behind only Secretariat!!

  • Easy Goer was by far the greatest horse that I ever saw. It was a tremendous loss that he passed away so young. But many of the greats seem to. Easy Goer was Hall of Famer in every sense of the word. Every time I go to the Hall of Fame, I see his plaque, he truely was great.

  • I'm a huge Rachel Alexandra fan, but I always say she's my favorite race horse since Easy Goer. I'll remember him most for the Belmont. One of the best ever.

  • Yeah Rachel alexandra turned into V.Special filly .But we shall not see another easy goer in this life .Simple is that !

  • Easy Goer was a truely maginificent, amazing and extraordinary Hall of Fame thoroughbred! A special, special horse from the very day he was born at Claiborne Farm to his untimely death. Tremendous loss to lose such a tremendous champion.

  • Easy Goer was one of the greatest Hall of Fame Champions of all time. To run the greatest mile of all time by any three year old and then to run of the greatest mile and a halfs of all time. And after that, to go on to that sensational and historic campaign was just brillance.

  • Easy Goer was one of the greatest thoroughbreds to ever look through a bridle. The fastest mile ever for any three year old horse, second fastest Belmont of all time. Some of the fastest times in the most historic, championship races.

  • When i heard this news i felt like my 2nd son died cus i have one son & three daughter & i always look at Easy from his 1st. race like my own son & predicted to my friends he shall be next triple crown winner he was,nt lucky to get that ticket, but showed so many promising races that every fan enjoy them till today !

  • Correction one son & 2 daughters !

  • Easy Goer= Never forgotten, he will always be a Champion.

  • This horse had one of the most beautiful strides I've ever seen. To this day, he remains my favourite racehorse There will never another one like him. He had the blue-blooded pedigree and performed like it on the track.

  • I Agree with you did you see his Long stride & Closing kick in Breeder,s Classic just a bit close to win ?

  • What a horse, What a Legend, What a Champion, What a Loss to Thoroughbred Racing. Easy Goer.

  • Easy Goer/Sunday Silence: forever linked together. It's just too bad they both came along in the same year. (I think we all miss Jim McKay too.)

  • One of the Greatest 3yo campaigns in the history of the sport, and 1 of the Greatest Campaigns by a Horse any age in the history of the sport by EASY GOER!!..Easy Goer is the only horse in History to Reel off the Whitney-G1,Travers-G1,Woodward -G1 and Jockey Club Gold Cup!!This in the same Campaign as him running the Fastest Mile ever by any 3yo in History, just 1/5 of a second off Dr Fagers world record, galloping out 9F in an Unwordly 1:45 3/5 & the 2nd Fastest Belmont Stakes in History!!

  • Amen to Jim McKay "WHAT A LOSS TO RACING,NO MORE FUTURE CHAMPIONS TO BE SIRED."

  • Easy Goer-Still to this day since the Genesis of the breed of Thoroughbreds, not one other 3yo in History has ever run a Faster Mile, and he was just 1/5 of a Second off Dr Fagers world Record,Galloping out 9F in an Unwordly 1:45 3/5,Still to this Day the 2nd Fastest test of a Champion Belmont Stakes in history behind only Immortal Secretariat, and the Only Horse in History to Reel off the Whitney-G1,Travers-G1,Woodward-G1 & Jclub Gold Cup-G1 in History!!

  • Easy Goer was a Super Super Supreme thoroughbred, and he was a Freak of nature. To lose him so early in his life WAS devastating. So long to Easy Goer, a true Champion.

  • What a Spectacular horse big monster Easy Goer was. What a super, super athlete he was. And he is missed by so so many, it was a huge loss to thoroughbred racing. Fabulous big Easy!

  • Easy Goer wasn't a horse...he was a religion in New York

  • Amen brother amen. What a ride!!!

  • Easy Goer as Jim McKay says, "What a Loss to Racing." He couldnt have been more correct in that statement. Since the Genesis of the Breed of Thoroughbreds, no other thoroughbred in his 3yo year of existence ever ran a Faster Mile & ge was 1/5 of a Second off DrFagers World Record,he actually Galloped out 9F in 1:45 3/5. And since the genesis of the breed, only the Immortal Secretariat ever ran a Faster Test of a Champion Belmont Stakes than Easy Goer!!!

  • Easy Goer- what a Loss it to racing it was to lose him at 8yo."No more future Champions to be sired." Jim McKay was great as well..We all miss them both.
