  • Damn, confusing to work out since you've got your cap on fr3 but you're tuned down a semitone! ;)

  • @scottytrotter

Yes, sorry about that! Check out Brett Kull's (from Echolyn) cover of this song here on Youtube too. Some better chord fingerings, for the intro specially. Good luck working it out.

  • @hyperboreal No worries. Got it sorted with lots of judicial use of the good ol' pause/play/rewind 'til my fingers bled! Hahaha. Anyway, thanks for posting. Would never have worked it out without this. I'm now sounding pretty good, even if i say so myself!

  • Lovely piece of music from a great album. One of my favourites. I'll have to study this closely to get all the chords. (Unless you've tabbed it somewhere?)

Anyway, nicely done and the 12-string sounds great too.

  • Listen to this cover--it's Good! : ) Better than you think!

  • Hmm, is that guitar tuned down a semitone in the introduction? ie you are on Capo III?

  • goosepimple experience

  • perfectly, thank you!

  • BRAVO!

  • Beautiful piece of music, well done.

  • progressive, romantic, acoustic - I LOVE IT!!!

keep rockin'n'lovin all you audiophiles out there!!

  • Good stuff.... Are there any guitar-tabs/transcriptions available from this album???

  • Not that I know of but I'd love it would get published some day.

  • fantastic. Howard from The Book of Genesis (Genesis tribute band)

  • a wonderful song, that I could never forget, many thanks for the tips!

  • Great stuff - encouraged me to learn the piece too. Have you heard the re-mastered CD? The "bonus" CD has just the 12 string duet by Ant and Mike - beautiful.

  • Yes, I bought it last year when it was released (also with Ant's signature). And as you say, that bonus CD is priceless. Would love to work on that duet someday.

  • Surprised anyone remembers the song. Loved the CD. Does anyone remember who sang on the track? Phil Collins.

  • @Irothko think it was gabriel

  • Great performance, congratulations, it's like the original.

    You gave me great emotions.

I remember when this LP was published, this kind of music has always been considered old fashoned compared with rock and roll, punk and so on. It seemed that if you were able to play an instrument you were not good.

Please do other performance like this!

  • Yes, I will. Thank you sciotifr.

  • awesome version

  • This is incredible. I love that song and to see someone play it just so beautifully is just amazing. Great Job!!!

  • Hyperboreal this is a really lovely version of one of my favourite Ant Phillps tracks. I love to hear a 12 string when it's played as nicely as this. Like you say, one or two small flaws - but it adds to the charm!

  • So nice to read that. Thanks!

  • Hi - I dont suppose you could make this available on an MP3 file - this is superb and I play it to my baby daughter every night before bed!

it would help me get through the rush hour in London if I had it on my Ipod!

    Keep up the good work.

Another one you could try - Emerson Lake and Palmer - "From the Beginning"

  • Very good indeed!

    Congratula!tions

  • Hello hyperboreal. I´m a guitarist like you, and I love this song from Anthony Phillips.

I haven´t a 12 string guitar, I have an acoustic one, and electric and a spanish guitar. I was playing this theme seeing your fingers, but I think, at least in my Spanish, is 2nd fret standard tuning (eADGBE).

At least the E major chord and AMaj7 chord sounds good for me in 2nd fret

  • Well, you're right in the case of this video but not concerning the original song. I had my 12-string tuned 1 semitone down when I recorded this so I probably forgot to move the capo up to the fourth fret to match the higher tone of the original record (or maybe I was trying to accomodate it for singing). Regardless, if you're guitar is tuned to correct pitch the capo should be on the third fret.

  • Unusal chords. That's Anthony!

  • what fret is the capo on, and are you using any kind of special tuning?

  • Capo is on the third fret, standard tuning.

  • De verdad , que bien , gracias

Te mando un super abrazo y un beso !

  • La mejor enterpretaciòn de Anthony Phillips. Te saludo de Génova.

The best interpretation ever of Anthony Phillips celestial music.

  • I was searching for the chords (and from God If I Saw Her Now-if I may do a request?) and I stumbled into this.

Man...it's amazing. I just bought an 12-string because of the singing sound of it. This -what you've done- is a great example of what I mean.

I have to quit responding and play your stuff again...and again...

Thanks for bringing back this music !

    Eef (Netherlands)

  • I have listened to Anthony Phillips for 15 years and you are amazing keep playing....JUST GREAT!

  • Hi, just saw your comment. If you're still looking for God If I Saw Her Now I can dig out the chords for you. From what I remember they were quite straightforward, D, G, C9, etc. just caoped up pretty far...

  • Hola Hiperboreal! Greetings from Lisbon.

You and Troubleclef just made me get my hands on my guitars again after years of oblivion.

I've already took "The Cinema Show" from your "Entangled" medley,( which you reinvent marvelously in one guitar ) and I'm trying hard to cope with my 12 string again. Man, it's really hard...

Keep up the excellent work around these beautiful parts and pieces you're doing!

  • I'm very glad to read that mate, thank you.

Let's awake those fingers from its quiet slumber! And hopefully wait for a nice rendition of some of those Hackett pieces too.

  • nice

  • And just listened to the arpeggios/string picking from 4:18 onwards - beautiful. I don't know if you posted this because I mentioned "The Geese and the Ghost" but thanks - just gorgeous music.

  • Excellent Alex - I can't hear any mistakes - the chords all sound spot on. There is something almost ethereal about Anthony Phillips' compositions, and you have captured that feeling very well.

Keep up the good work - regards - Philip

  • Again I say Bravo! You should start up a Tribute solo act a la The Musical Box. Only, never tour and never perfom live, like A. Phillips! Just kidding. You are great.

  • Hyperboreal, you're the best! All your songs are great! Good Job and Good luck!

  • Thank you ignamax. Best wishes to you as well.

  • Great job!

  • Very nice arrangement you made here!

  • It's not really an arrangement per se but I appretiate it anyway KVron. And by the way, what does "KVron" stand for? Phonetically speaking it has one of those quite peculiar meanings in spanish...

  • LOL yes, you're right! KVron sounds as one of the well-known words in spanish... It depends on the context if it's an ofensive word or not.

  • beautiful job. i was doing my best Phil Collins impression while watching, too. suffice it to say your Ant was better than my Phil. Nice!

  • Thank you trouble, I would have liked to see that performance :)
