Right now, I'm using a pair of earbuds I bought for about 10 bucks, and considering the price I paid for them, they actually sound pretty good. They're a little bit loud, and they could be a bit clearer in the higher frequencies, but other than that I like them. I damn well know that they're going to wear out in a few months time, but the same can be said for much more expensive earbuds, which is why I don't bother with them.
If I ever decide to buy a pair of expensive headphones, I want them to sound good, and I want them to be rugged as hell too, because there's no point in buying an expensive set that'll crap out on me after a few months of usage.
