  • I'd like how know how you WON'T blow the fuse.

  • My boss would kill me for something like this.

  • ppl that play starcraft are pretty intelligent... but at the time of playing with friends on lan our intelligence can be replaced with desperation... setting up a turney must be a lot of multitasking!

  • is it just me or does that look like a massive fire and oh&s risk lol

  • Don't try this at home.

Not if you care for your PC.

  • Isn't it bad to have that many things plugged into one outlet... I mean I've never tried but there is definitely something wrong with that -_-.

  • I was also exposed to a similar gaming environment, and as a result, came very close to failing at life. Luckily, the skill set gained from mastering starcraft happens to be the same skills required to operate an institutional trading desk.

  • wow lucky they didnt fry

  • That's sick!@

  • SICK! xD

  • dangerous.......

  • lol wow...

  • i like how the one guy is playing with a desktop keyboard attached to his laptop. yeah i play on ICCUp but sometimes i lose just because some guy in russia is laggin me up so badly i cant muta harras

  • That was retarded and stupid.

You're lucky no one was hurt.

  • If you're losing, just plug a vaccum and a microwave into the first splitter and drop everyone in the building.

  • uuuuh ok LMAO

  • Aldaris has nothing on this.

  • Power Overwhelming!!

  • haha win

  • LOL, starcraft humor is best. Btw, I love your commentaries and vids and watch them every week.

  • LMAO Thats great!

  • I'm sure they consulted the electrical engineers down the hall before doing this.

  • Can u say Fire

  • well that's not very safe...

  • You must construct additional pylons

  • Yo dawg, I herd u like power splitters

  • So moletrap... should I walk up to UC Berkeley and see your face for myself since you wont show it.

  • She won't hold!

  • GREEN HOUSE GASES~!

  • now replace the laptops for vacuum cleaners

  • ou gona burn down your school =D

  • people don't realize university wiring and home wiring are very different

and you all seem to be forgetting that everyone's playing on a laptop, which draws a fraction of the power a desktop would

  • but from the outlet its kinda home wiring... define the fraction, the laptop adapter can easily draw 100W if not more, they aren't so efficient

  • fraction: a part as distinct from the whole of anything; portion or section

in this case my computer can draw as much as 500 watts (not counting display) but this is not typical... similarly, a laptop can draw 100 or more watts, but will probably run lower than that (in the 70-80 watt range depending on everything)

the cpu, harddrive and the wifi use the most power but since starcraft lets the cpu and hdd practically idle I think you're looking at fairly close to baseline consumption

  • Only if you check the cpu throttling plus you can have some apps on background active like flash on web or virus scan. Your battery could be charging if it's not full. Also count the adapters efficiency which I guess is about 70%. Then you can get pretty high even with just starcraft.

  • adapters generally operate in the high 80s, like 85%+ (some are 90%)

and I was assuming people are just playing starcraft, so no virus scanners, defragmenting, etc

anyway, point is still don't try this at home

  • you are going to blow that outlet gg

  • The worms are coming...

  • Our campus has pylon technology.

  • @lonelygreenteagirlie comment win

  • Did someone say "fire hazard"?

  • That is gonna fail. Fuses pop at home when we do like 3 comps

  • No one spill their drink, now.

  • Image if ya got a power surge. GG to your comps

  • thats epic

  • Cant believe no fuses were blown!!

  • its UCB. They are smarter than that.

  • lets hope :)

  • Is it even able to run so many computers from only 1 source ?

  • damn... how many watts does that outlet have after all O.O?

  • That seems safe...

  • daisy chain. ::snicker::

  • Overload!!

  • Overlord!!

  • runnin on 200$ a minute on your hydro bill

  • thats... amazing that it worked... lol!

  • Even the power gets confused!

  • wow, and the cables didn't melt? :S well.. those are laptops after all, but still!

  • Yeah and about 5-10 of them were netbooks. But there was a full on desktop in there, too.

  • Holy shit.

    That's so ridiculous haha.

  • Isn't this illegal in 29 states? hahaha

  • lol

did this blow out the socket? I am really surprised that worked.

  • Oh god, you guys need to invest in some twist ties and learn about proper cabling procedures!

If you can't wire your own CAT5 you should not be playing with wires!

On a side note, 20 computers into one outlet is a major fire hazard... too much amps = heat = fire

    First?

  • that's like 20 amps minimum? also great setup for ground loops

  • big woop

  • Nice :D

  • Yeah, more LAN PARTY !
