  • ewwww it has geletine in it :(

  • hey awsome video :) can u use bubble bath or shampoo instead of body wash?

  • Can you use flavored gelatin?

  • @Straberry34 I'd say no!

  • :( If it melts when you leave it out then it's not really like lush jellies.. because theirs don't melt. But still great tutorial!

  • @Cindeekisses Yes, because they use a vegan ingredient, Agar Agar, which comes from seaweed and has a much firmer hold. I couldn't find any recipes with it or even actually find agar agar, so I had to use what was available to me. Thanks!

  • this was definitely the easiest to follow soap jelly tutorial! nice job :)

  • @IMANIAWESOME Thank you so much!

  • Do you use food coloring or would that stain your body?

  • @DANCE4life0123 I used food coloring but I read somewhere that you shouldn't, because if you use too much it can stain. For me, it didn't stain but the bubbles were green like the product.

  • do you not own a kettle? why would you boil water in a microwave? you know that the volume is decreased if you do that?

  • @giantbee89 No I don't. and I didn't know that but my jelly still turned out fine.

  • Once I accidentally left some shower gel out .....the next day it felt like jelly:)

  • @JSAclub3 haha interesting!

  • do you have to keep it refrigerated? (sorry for the random question lol) answer if u can :)

  • @AllGrlzBeautyCollab I'd recommend keeping it refrigerated!

  • does it have to be iodised salt?

  • @lushjunkie1234 Unless you're using some kind of natural organic dead sea salt, chances are its iodised by default.

  • if you use shampoo you could put it in your hair swell as use it as soap, like the lush ones.

  • @OMGNYANCAT yep!

  • wow

  • @DeeSlater90 wow

  • Theres a new device that takes pictures of living organism's oras. Plants have them too, just because there's no thought process doesn't mean they aren't alive. I feel like it falls under the same category as sexism or racism. c'mon eat free range eggs instead like the rest of us. Ps I think the whole shower jelly idea is idiotic, a loofa & shower gel has always worked for me! Let's put jello inside pantyhose & call myself clean, lol so stupid

  • @Misslaceysnails uhhh okay......

  • is theer a substitute for the rubbing alchocol???

  • @aurorasnightsavers I don't think so. maybe witch hazel.

  • @aurorasnightsavers any perfume with alcohol in in.. hydrogen peroxide seems to work ok

  • @aurorasnightsavers just room spray colone or purfume

  • @chelseagirlbrunomars I'm not sure really, but hey, nothing wrong with experimenting!

Let me know how it turns out! (I'd love to see a pic!)

  • is there any way u can use flavored jello instead of plain gelatin. wouldnt that give it smell also

  • @sallyjessica97 Not unless you want to defeat the purpose of the soap. Jello has sugar in it which will cause you to become sticky, so the soap will have to cleanse that off as well. I mean, if you want to experiment, go for it, but I don't think it'd work out personally.

  • can i add rose petals or some other flower or things???

  • @gabigoose417 I'm sure you could!

  • Could i add more gelatin to make it harder instead of being so flexible..... WOULD IT WORK?

  • @gabigoose417 it wouldn't hurt to try!

  • Does it have to be unflavored gelatin?

  • Have you ever melted lush soap to use instead of some else? would it work?

  • @Brittanyj06041992 no I don't think that would work, but LUSH's liquid soaps would.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! Mine came out perfect(:

  • @youknowiloveyouuu awesome!! I'm glad to hear it!

  • hey do you no if theres a recipe without gelatin?

  • @superfashionista4 You can use agar agar which is made of seaweed. I've never used it but if you are able to find it that would work, I'm sure in the same amount.

  • @OliviaMakeupChannel do you know wherei can get it from? lol sorry :D

  • did u like copy someone else recipe cause its the samething as someone else's video i saw?

  • @3000Crystal A lot of people use the same recipe, so yes!

  • Please please please answer. Does regular salt work

  • @Bigcatlover15 yes because iodized salt is normal salt or table salt.

  • @Bigcatlover15 yes!

  • To all of you VEGANS that are complaining about the gelatin, for ever animal you dont eat, i am going to eat THREE, suck up your pride and get over it!

this is an awesome recipe! and just as good if not better than LUSH! for what... a tiny fraction of the price, fi you dont like it than dont watch the video!

    AWESOME VIDEO!

  • @eyekadniistore Hahaha! you are too funny! Thanks so much! That's what I was going for...a cheap alternative of a product that I do like, but those products are so expensive, why not use what's cheaper! :) Thanks for the love! <3 <3

  • The dye does not dye your skin

  • Does the dye, dye your skin?

  • @Oliviasims26 nope! if you use too much I'm sure it could. Mine came out with colored bubbles.

  • i still think lushes real shower jelly would be more moisturizing etc?

  • @XxSaltandSugarxX It also might depend on which soap you use :P and this costs much less than lush so it would't AS good

  • @XxSaltandSugarxX yes but this is a good cost friendly alternative, and you can always amp up the body wash you choose to make it more moisturizing

  • @OliviaMakeupChannel

Hmm i guess, but what does the iodized salt do?

  • @XxSaltandSugarxX I have no clue. I used a recipe I found online and then added other things (i.e. glitter spray) to make it my own.

  • @XxSaltandSugarxX

i am sure they are more moisturizing and stuff but most people cant afford lush

  • Do you keep it fridge at all time, or just until it sets?

  • @adrenalineamber I prefer all the time! it can melt if it's in the humid environment of the shower a lot.

  • have u tried this with vegan ingredients such as carageenan, agar agar, seaweed gel, arrowroot, kudzu powder, etc??

  • @no2nestle no, but I am interested in trying it with agar agar, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere! I recommend you to experiment with it and make your own video! :D

  • What's the purpose of the salt I cant understand? :)

  • @brixuke to be honest I have NO idea. lol. Every recipe I saw for it asked for salt. You can try to do it without it but I wouldn't risk it personally :D

  • This video has a sole purpose of showing how to make soap in jelly form. Olivia stated LUSH Dupe to give a marketed example of the form she was trying to create with the soap. She also stated it was not vegan due to the fact that she was just showing how to create the basic jelly form. If you would like your shower jelly vegan, buy one from LUSH or create one yourself. There certaintly is not any reason for someone to bash this video or Olivia, considering you're the one who chose to watch it.

  • @BarbieGoneDrastic1 aww thanks for explaining! I am glad someone else understands where I'm coming from! :D <3

  • @OliviaMakeupChannel No problem(:

  • At martins

  • I can;t find any iodized salt ,can i use regular salt instead??

  • @Mimiopampam I have no clue really. but it doesn't hurt to try!

  • I've done it with regular salt and iodized salt and couldn't tell the difference. Love this stuff.

  • @BrightEyesNV oh awesome!

  • I've done this with regular salt and iodized salt and can't tell the difference. Love this stuff.

  • Hey I was wondering if u could use the jello packets

  • @Strawburry100 noooo.

  • could you use it as a shampoo bar too? (like for your hair) cause u used shampoo to make it...

  • @ninjahorses1 of course!

  • I have so got to try this recipe! Thank you so much! Now only if I could make it so it stays solid without the fridge like LUSH, we could make millions!! lolol

  • @BRETTSBOO69 no problem! hahaha I know right! maybe more gelatin/less liquid? idk!

  • really good thank you and i gave some to friends and family they all loved it i need to make more haha

  • can you use shower gel and use it as a soap in the shower/bath? please answer me! thanks :)

  • @lyrics4eva100 yes of course you can!

  • @OliviaMakeupChannel kk thanks! :)

  • so if i made this i could no store in my bathroom.. say i plastic or containers? or must in be kept in the fridge.. and im talking about the whole mold.. thankyoou . great tuorial

  • @thecharmien I think it would be best in the refrigerator but there's no harm in trying. mine melted when I kept it out of the fridge.

  • kk thanks i just finished making my jelly and its in my friedge

  • @livi528 how did it turn out?!

  • heyy where did u get the gelatin from?

  • @livi528 just a grocery store!

  • I wonder what that would smell like.

  • @mlesophie it smells the same as whatever soap you use does!

  • How long does it keep for

  • @Mich6677 probably not for too long. depends on how well you store it. you can just make it in smaller batches. Mine was used up in about a week so I couldn't really gauge the timeframe for expiration!

  • @xposiasfuckx lolol. I am not stupid, I made it clear that I knew it wasn't vegan and put the warning. If you look online the ingredients for every shower jelly includes sodium laureth sulfate + methylparaben. Those aren't that great either so you may want to get your facts straight before you call someone stupid. Although some soaps contain those as well you can find ones that don't, but I didn't want to put expensive soap into my recipe. maybe you should make this to wash your dirty mouth.

  • @xposiasfuckx Who are you calling dumb?! Lush isn't completely organic, that's BS. They use all these terms, that anybody can use (without it actually having to be true), and/or only applies to maybe one or two of their products.. Their soap isn't even proper soap!

So these jellies here might very well be better than the ones at Lush.

    Thumbs up for Olivia

  • @ShumiKawaii88 aww thanks <3 I appreciate it!

  • will flavored gelatin work??? if you use unscented soap and no food coloring... will the recipe work?

  • where did you get that big can of unflavored gelatin? please reply :)

  • @12chibichan not sure because it's my moms, probably just a regular store!

  • Do it work on your skin the same as lush? is it safe to put of?lol

  • @xXxMizzNiaxXx it's perfectly safe to put on your skin. it's not exactly the same as lush because there are ovious ingredient differences, like the fact that this one isn't vegan and lush is vegan, but lush uses parabens and this doesn't have parabens unless the soap you are using does.

  • do we have to use gelatine or can we use other jellos

  • @starthunder12 only gelatin or agar agar if you can find it because jello has other stuff in it besides gelatin

  • @sillylilly555 yes u can that's wat xxmakeupiscoolxx used and I used and it wrks just as well

  • Sillylilly555 yes u can that's wat xxmakeupiscoolxx used and what I used and it wrks perfect

  • Mine is in the fridge now seems to be firming up nicly earlier today i turned it out to early and it just flopped and when pluuughh so i wacked it in the microwave and waited for it to melt then i put it back in the fridge and it is setting now and is already much firmer than it was before oh and i added about a teaspoon more gelatin when i heated it

  • @BakerBrownies oh awesome!

  • um... hi. I'm from Sweden and we don't have the exact measuring cups and stuff like you so maybe you could tell me in deciliters ? Cuz I don't understand 3/4 cups lol I'm only 13

  • @alvocaloid look on google for a measurement converter and it will tell you! because i have no clue. ahhaah :) good luck!

  • ermmm, the reason i wouldent use this is coz u made it with gelatin and lush jelly products are made of seaweed(thats why its so moisturizing) i wrok at lush so that why i knw this lol =) but it does look fun lol

  • @asianroker idk if I didn't make this clear enough but I know it's not vegan and it's not the same as lush. But the fact of the matter is that is costs so much less and it's so easy, and with this economy, people need that. LUSH also contains methylparaben. This however does not. I'm sure someone who wanted to make this at home could substitute it with agar agar powder gelatin which is made of seaweed. In fact, someone did on here and said it worked well. But I can't find the stuff here.

  • Why do all these nice videos about making nice soap have such HORRIBLE MUSIC?! My ears are sad :-(

  • @mandwhy77 uhmmm the music isn't even that bad. but guess what, there's something called a mute button...........revolutionary!

  • just tried this!! hope it works :)))

  • @spaceshipriderr awesome! i hope it did too! let me know how it turned out :D

  • Hey I just mAde this now I hope its good in the morning! How many hours should I give it?

  • @DressageRiding around 6 hrs i think. don't cover it, because when i did nothing happened.

  • Hi, I'm in Australia and here you can get agar agar at any Asian food supermarket. you can get sachets or the actual seaweed strands. I don't know about other countries. Thank-you so much for this recipe!

  • @jkaur2202 oh cool thanks!

  • You can use agar agar instead of gelatin. I made this today using a 7g sachet of agar agar which was already coloured red and contained vanilla which I was planning to add as a scent. I used it instead of gelatin in the recipe above and it worked perfectly and was even finished setting in a hour!

  • @jkaur2202 yes i was thinking agar agar would work since it's made out of like seaweed or something right? very cool! thanks for sharing that it worked! good solution because then it's vegan and paraben free, unlike lush :D but I just thought that finding agar agar would be tough.

  • Do we put it in the fridge or freezer???

  • @Pinoy8250 fridge!

  • can you use jello mix instead of gelatin?

  • @sillylilly555 no i don't think so.

  • did u put yours in the fridge or freezer because i put mine in the freezer and didnt work

  • @thepinkplaidnails nononononono IT GOES IN THE FRIDGE the freezer makes it solidify to much - thats y it didn't work!!!!!

  • @thepinkplaidnails yesss @paneuopean is right! fridge not freezer. it may work id you defrost it and then refridgerate but i've never tried that so i'm unsure.

  • did u use body wash or shampoo???

  • @thepinkplaidnails you can use either but if you want to make a shower jelly to use on your body, then body wash would be best. but if you want to make a shampoo jelly, then use shampoo. i think i might have used shampoo in this though.

  • do you need rubbing alchohol?? cause im not gunna use it

  • @theblogforyou kind of. but you can just replace it with your favorite body spray/mist. it's to remove the bubbles that appear when mixing, it makes it look nicer in the end but it's up to you really.

  • I would recommend using skin safe dyes. You can purchase these at any craft stores.

  • @teamtwilight87 Never Mind!! I tried it and it didnt work!

  • @teamtwilight87 what didn't work?

  • @OliviaMakeupChannel Soap Coloring

  • cooler music than most vids

  • Lolll when u put it in the microwave "1:47-1:46-Done"!!!!!

  • @Pinoy8250 lol! i didn't realize that!

  • yeah but it won't smell good like lush!! :)

  • @Katoop if you're good at making your own scents or have good scented stuff it will smell good. it's not worth the money just for that.

  • Can I use other salt to Ionized? As we don't tend to get that salt in our shops in UK (as far as I know).

  • @TheAngyles i'm not sure really...sorry :/

  • will the food coloring stain your skin?

  • @berryice9600 if you don't use a lot it should be fine. when I used mine it showed the color whenever it came off, and the bubbles were light green ish, but it didn't stain.

  • does any salt work

  • @hotcurls102 I'm not so sure about that. Iodized salt is regular table salt so it's the most readily accessible, so you probably already have it. It's also finely grained so it can dissolve. Sorry I can't be that much help :/

  • I love this video. my favorite :) What glitter spray did you use and wash it all thorugh out your jelly? Thanks for the great video!

  • @neonpinksapphire thank you so much! I used this one from bath and body works from like 2 years ago. I think I'd rather use a cosmetic grade glitter to make it more apparent though :)

  • How do you store this?

  • @neonpinksapphire I like to store it in the fridge so it keeps the same firmness. if you store it in the shower the steam melts it and it's not as easy to work with.

  • wow awesome, very cool, nice you are so smart.

  • @mateon28 haha thanks! :D

  • Can you use like shower gel? Life before LUSH, I have tons of Bath & Body works shower gels!

  • @DaniDee09 yes you can use shampoo, body wash/shower gel, or hand soap!

  • umm, gelatin is crushed up animal bones and animal fat. imma skip this recipe

  • @shauna5rose5 I stated that this recipe IS NOT vegan. And actually, Gelatin is actually collagen from BOILING animal bones- not crushing them. Gelatin is often used in food and even makeup so using it in a soap is not out of this world. I never said you had to use this recipe but thanks :)

  • do you put it in the freezer or fridge? I didn't really know. :) Great video! Was this your own idea or did you find it somewhere? :)

  • @gummybear2239 fridge. the freezer would freeze it and not set it. Thank you!

I found this online and then found youtube videos on it and researched a few of them so I could formulate what would work best.

  • @OliviaMakeupChannel Thank you, this was really good!

  • @gummybear2239 no problem, thank you for commenting!

  • @OliviaMakeupChannel your welcome, this was so cool, I just can't get over it! haha

  • Wow, this looks great. Thanks for sharing. Couple of questions.

    1) So you used liquid soap?

and 2) So, does using glitter body spray instead of rubbing alcohol instead make any difference.

  • @AniMay Thank you!

Yes liquid soap is the only kind that will work because solid soap will stay solid even after you melt it

    2. The only difference it makes is the glitter. The scent maybe, but it's too subtle to notice. Body sprays have rubbing alcohol in them so that is why they do the same thing

    Hope that helps!
