@luno44 Oh, you don't like Hyacinth? I thought you didn't like Liz! LOL! What's not to like about Liz, she loves Hyacinth even though no one else does (well, except for Richard and her family and MAYBE Sheridan! LOL!)
@luno44 That's true, but I swear she's harboring a secret crush on Hyacinth. And I think Hyacinth might have feelings for her too, but you know, the social class, thing...
Elizabeth is absolutely a fantastic actress, as a nervous wreck neighbour. If I had to pick a favorite amongst them all, she and Hyacinth are the funniest ladies ever from this Show.
I love the scene in KUA when the cops mistake Hyacinth's home for an opium den. They barge their way in, smash the place up, cosh Richard over the head and bust a cap in Hyacinth's ass for complaining. Brilliantness!

TXRider > "The tea\coffee scenes did get tiresome.."
Yes, they did. Especially when done so poorly by Elizabeth (Josephine Tewson). Nonetheless, Elizabeth was a favorite, as was Onslow (Geoffrey Hughes) and Daisy (Judy Cornwell). Hyacinth Bucket (Patricia Routledge) was just an irritation and the person playing Richard Bucket (Clive Swift) couldn't act. Finally, Rose (Shirley Stelfox/Mary Millar) was just horrible and should have been entirely written out of the show.
The tea\coffee scenes did get tiresome after a while, but they were SO classic (I also grew up watching 'Fawlty Towers', though the series was past my time.)
Every comedic character needs a good schtick to make them recognizable. In the case of Elizabeth is her nerves around Hyacinth's "expensice" china is part of what makes Liz Liz. Since it was the first episode, we got a taste of what was to happen in future episdoes; though this would be one of the few times she broke the "expensive" stuff as opposed to a beaker. A good long running gag was established that made Keeping Up Appearence what it was. It's a 5 star gag plain and simple.
I am an American, who like many Americans, discovered KUA on PBS. It truely is a brilliant show. I understand it might not be for everyone, but still, have a watch. You might become one of millions of others who are addicted to KUA!
Hyacinth is brilliant its amazing how popular she was despite her snobbery. She reminded me so much of my gran even though she lived in a council house lol.

I cant get over how bad the supporting cast are in this. The vicar, his missus, Daisy, Elizabeth especially. They're piss poor and that's being unfair on the piss!
Dude you've replied over 10 times to this video, and a third of these aren't even replies to other comments. My question towards you: are you a dick or don't you got a life?

And if she dropped her cup again then heaven help her!
Two cars played the role of Hyacinth's and Richard's. They were both the same type of car - a Rover 216 in the same shade of blue. Early episodes used a car with the registration plate D541 EXL. Later ones used a car with the registration plate D541 EFL.
