  • Oh my God, Sally Anne Howes sounds so much like Julie Andrews when she sings.

  • 7:03

  • 3:07

  • Does anyone remember some kind of legit lollipops that whistled? I think they were around in the 90's...I totally forgot about them until now. Anyways, I LOVE this movie, this song, Dick van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, and the kids. This is adorable. <3

  • @DorisDayFanatic I remember them. They were called "tutti frutis" and they had tucans on them. :)

  • When i was young i used to HATE this song. I was really scared as choking on my food as a child and all the characters dancing around whilst chewing hard sweets.... -_- many nightmares

  • I unashamedly love the hell out of this song.

  • and so candy dog whistles were invented

  • Thanks for posting this!!!!!

  • Mr. Pots haha priceless...

  • Id buy twenty

  • I totally forgot about this movie and song!!!!!!!!

  • Those are marvelous working conditions for that century.

  • Brings back good memories... :)

  • You will never convince a knighted nobleman who runs a confectionary factory to begin selling your product by bursting into song in the middle of his factory. ;_;

  • We named our dog Edison because of this movie.

  • 7:08 dick van dyke busting out some chimney sweep!

  • 3:19 Too Late Had your chance.... Muffed It! lol I love it!

  • I just saw this on TV and looked it up on youtube because I liked the tune.

I can't get it out of my head

  • "Edison, you're a genius!" ha ha! Great line!

  • @Mrphilharmonic it's a great line, and yet i think the funnier line came a few seconds earlier, where he said, "oh, edison, stop that whistling." imagine thinking that a hound would be whistling. at first, caracticus must have thought that edison was making that noise with his own mouth.

  • @coventrygardens Yes, you have a point. One of those sublime non-thinking moments I suppose.

I recently bought the wide-screen DVD and I find it's a TOTALLY different experience from the constraints of the 'full' (ie tv sized) screen version.

Somehow, THIS movie, really needs widescreen (as does "Ben-Hur")

So, do yourself a favour if you only have the full screen and buy the 'deluxe' W.S. version. It's great!! (The sound's great too!)

  • wie schön wäre, den Film noch einmal mit den eigenen, inzwischen großen Töchtern zu sehen ............. so wie damals, als die Welt für uns noch schön war.

    Danke für dieses Upload

  • @ThePilot314 Bitte, Freund :)

  • @ThePilot314 Bitte!

  • I want to eat one of those so badly I might scream. No idea WHY!

  • Truly Scrumptious. That does sound like a Bond Girl name.

  • @babymoondancer sounds like a stripper name

  • @babymoondancer yea, "truly scrumptious" sounds like a bond girl name, & yet i read that truly didn't appear in the book "chitty chitty bang bang", that was written by ian fleming, who wrote the james bond books. seems that the movie "chitty chitty bang bang" was quite different from the book. i wonder whether the james bond movies are similar to the james bond books. i've seen many bond movies and movie "chitty chitty bang bang", & yet i haven't read any books on which the movies were based.

  • "He likes it!"

It looks like he's gagging to death.

  • shes the old lady gaga =]

  • Love this scene! Thanks for sharing.

  • i love that part where caractacus says, "oh, edison, stop that whistling." then, all of a sudden, caractacus realized that hounds aren't supposed to be whistling. imagine what the movie would have been like if edison hadn't whistled with caractacus around.

  • given the fact that chitty-chitty bang bang and the james bond books were written by ian fleming, and given the fact that albert broccoli produced the movies based on chitty chitty bang bang and some of the james bond books, it seems that broccoli had an affection for fleming stuff. or else broccoli was only trying to make money by using fleming stuff. though chitty--- is not a disney movie, it seems like the kind of movie that disney often made.

  • @coventrygardens AND have you noticed the 'other' connection between the bond movies and "Chitty"?

Not just Ian Fleming but that Desmond Llewellyn played the part of "Q" in the Bond movies (until recently) and also the part of "Coggins" in "Chitty"!

AND both Bond and Potts drove incredibly famous motor cars - the DB5 and Chitty. Fleming must have been a car lover.

  • @Mrphilharmonic when i was a young kid in the 1970s, i had a little replica of the chitty car along with a little replica of the batman car. dick van dyke's regular accent is about the same as mine, and yet i liked it when he was in "mary poppins", where he sounded quite humorous. ----- my youtube name has caused some people to wrongly think i'm from england. i chose the name because i was raised in a neighborhood called "coventry gardens", near detroit, near the british territory of ontario.

  • @coventrygardens Also Gert Frobe played the part of Baron Bomburst and also the legendary GOLDFINGER! Another connection!

  • chitty chitty bang bang was great, and i like dick van dyke in this movie and other movies. nevertheless it was strange to have him in this movie. he has the same kind of accent as i do, and yet the setting seemed wrong for that kind of accent.

  • Truly Scrumptious is a lady. I'd love to meet a real woman like this.

  • 5 people don't like the essence of happiness... tsk, tsk

  • Hi All! PLEASE do not waste your time replying to Juan Macready. He is all over YouTube, spewing vile and vicious comments about:

    Dick Van Dyke

    Sally Ann Howes

    "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

    "Mary Poppins"

There is absolutely NO point in arguing with him. He is a pathetic loser who loves to rain on everyone's parade. He will NOT give up. His statements are all LIES and UNTRUTHS. If you were all smart, you would simply mark everyone of his comments as SPAM. He's not worth your time and energy.

  • @Scott6263 totally agree! who wants to listen to him? you are absaloutly right

  • @JuanMacready you, sir, are clinically insane or depressed. There is absolutely nothing boring about TOOT SWEETS

  • @JuanMacready I"m sorry that someone hurt you.

  • @JuanMacready you be trollin'.

  • @JuanMacready Seems you are WELL in the MINORITY here.

Is there ANYTHING you really enjoy?

  • i love the music at 6:45

  • There sure is a lot of toot sweets in that one little paper bag. o_O

It's like the magic pudding in a paper bag.

  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is my favorite movie and i love Dick Van Dyke! I dont care if no one in my school has never heard of it! hahaha

  • actullay the resason some things are quite simeler to mary poppins is because

1-dick van dyke was in mary poppins

2-the corographers worked on mary poppins

3- the sherman brothers worked on mary poppins

  • LOL @ TOOT sweets... what are they candy that farts!!!

  • i remember seeing this in 2nd grade. lol it was cold to me

  • When Sally Anne Howes (Truly) she really sounds like Julie Andrews!

  • MOST EPIC SONG RIGHT HERE lol

  • I love this movie.

Me Ol´ Bamboo and Toot Sweets are the best musical numbers in the film, by far

  • @sitadown I like "Hushabye" mountain, if only for the wonderful key modulation at the end of the bridge section!

I think this movie is full of wonderful songs - er, except "Choochiface" which is .....well, not so good!

  • @Mrphilharmonic All the songs were totally forgettable except the Old Bamboo number. Van Dyke was a good dancer but he couldn't sing for shit.

  • @JuanMacready I think you're a "half-empty" kind of guy (as in a glass being half full or half empty)

Cheer up!! Life is a wonderful thing and there are many wonderful things (including this show) to enjoy!

  • @JuanMacready Seriously why?? You continuously (and by continuously, I MEAN continuously.. literally months apart) comment on the Chitty Bang Bang videos. WHY COME ON IT IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT? I could understand if you just clicked it to see what the fuss was about, but why do you keep coming back?

  • oi, you! HOP IT!

  • Watch the last guy coming down the stairs at 8.00, he jumps nearly that whole flight to make the timing!

  • i always wanted him to be my dad :P

  • you do know it's a british film xx

  • 8:32 LMAO he picks up the spoon and starts conducting, watch it face LMAO!!!

  • starting at 6:45, the dance sequence reminds me of mary poppins and also having the kids being a boy and girl and dick of course. also the truly character sounds similar to julie andrews. two movies very similar styles haha

  • oh actually according to imdb, the same chroeographers worked on both movies! no wonder.

  • If this can't make you smile, I don't know what can! :D

  • LOL Mr Whistleingsweets

  • 7.01 wiggling of heads made me laugh as a kid and now

  • I absaloutly adore sally ann howes, she really is truly scrumptious

  • ...the only american thing about this movie is dick van dyke.

    it's english!

    i absolutely love this movie!

  • oh and the songwriters, the sherman brothers too

  • I would also say that Dick Van Dyke is the best thing about this movie, lol. It has fantastic music and everything, but he really makes it a masterpiece.

  • @rockclimber21 i would say that Dick Van Dyke is just a masterpiece in general... lol

  • I was pleasently surprised when i found out the man who wrote chitty chitty bang bang was the mind behind james bond.

  • Well, this movie is NOTHING like Ian Fleming's book.

  • @HoshinoLibra Indeed.... Ian Fleming's novel of the same name is a great story and wholly different from that in the movie! :)

  • Went to see this at the theatre tonight, it was really good!

  • My grandmother always claimed we were related to Mr. Van Dyke....her mother was a Van Dyke and from the same area of Missouri as Dick's family. I assume all know that this was written by Ian Fleming..

  • dick van dyke.

    best actor ever.

  • With truly the best ever English accent!

  • trulys accent is gorgeous.

  • well she is british

  • @br0kenhartsx apart from his 'english accent in mary poppins LOL
