  • I was down to work in Lexington for a couple of weeks about this time last year, and it was nice to see it a little bit again. I enjoy your videos, thanks for all the hard work you put into them.

  • Greetings from the beautiful coast of Maine!

Already, the leaves are glorious, many shades of red, orange.

The best are the "gold" leaves so bright, you'd swear they glow in the dark!

Been to Kentucky many times, LOVE you folks so much; Spring in your state, nothing like it anywhere.

What a lovely southern belle you are!!

Every time I see a vid from you ,I'm reminded of the relaxed charm that comes naturally from you folks!

    Love you too much!

  • @porcelaincougar Thanks for your lovely comment! I am very honored.

    --Betty :)

  • Aw! Cool! I actually didn't know you were from KY when I subscribed. I'm in Lexington.

If you ever get the chance, you should try Stanley J's Delicatessen. Their red potato salad and chicken salad is a-mazing.

    :-)

  • I discovered you yesterday:)and i already can say that i LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos:)Take care and make more videos for us!You inspire me!

  • @MsLivia22 Thanks for your lovely comment! It is people like you who inspire ME!

  • I was born in Louisville Kentucky. It is such a beautiful state. I would love to go live there again.

  • wow, it is beautiful! Now I really want to travel down so I can enjoy the landscape and enjoy southern cooking :)

  • Wow Betty your food there T Jonathan's looked really good, and I am feeling quite hungry now ;-)...Richard

  • fun video, interesting slaw, is that traditional in Kentucky? nice country side!

  • @JimboJitsu Hi Jimbo! Thanks for the nice comment! I didn't taste the slaw, but I can tell you that it is not traditional to kentucky. Jonathan is a chef with some interesting ideas about putting a new twist on an old familiar recipe. I'm glad you enjoyed the countryside!

    --Betty :)

  • I love your videos. The food at Jonathan's looks delicious. You and your husband seem to have such a fun time making the videos. What a great way to spend time together :-)

  • Wow - I think I'd love to try everything you both ate at this restaurant. Those sandwiches both sounded and looked delicious, and the maple dressing on the coleslaw sounds great. I would love to see you make mini corn muffins someday - I bet Carter would like those. The pound cake with blueberry ice cream especially caught my attention - what a great idea. Have you made any pound cake videos yet Betty? Thanks so much for the trip video, as always.

  • @Heathmah Hi! Thanks for your nice comment! Yes, I have a pound cake in bettyskitchen--you may be seeing a lemon pound cake later this week!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks Betty - I will search through your videos for your previous pound cake recipe and will be eagerly awaiting the lemon variety too. Lemon is one of my favorite flavors.

  • WOW Betty you sure do get around.

What is the weather like in Kentuky all year round. It looks pretty nice there in this video.

It's my dream to move to the states.

  • @thesoapmaker1 The weather in Kentucky is very good overall. From May to about October it is generally sunny and warm. In midsummer, the temperatures get into the 90's, but in spring and fall they are in the 70's. It gets cold along about November, and we have snow occasionally, but usually not a lot. After January the weather starts to warm up, and then we get beautiful flowering trees and bulbs. If you like variety in weather, you'd like Kentucky!

  • thanks Betty for showing me that restaurant, the countryside and other places in your county/state. I'm always interested in what "far away" places look like :)

    greetings from Poland!

  • wow that food looks sooooo good, now im hungry and its 11:50pm.... NOT GOOD lol!

  • I loved the field trip as always. It was really great! Thanks for bringing us along. You really make all the field trips so enjoyable. You should be a spokeswoman for many companies because you do a superb job of representing companies and making the experience very enjoyable. Thank you again!! (I look forward to your version of the recipes)-Ann

thanks rick and betty!!!! you guys are great

  • @notnormalbuzz Thanks for your lovely comment, Ben! Most people don't know a lot about Kentucky, but it actually has a lot of historic places and nature sites to visit. It is also famous for so many things--like KFC, Kentucky bourboun, and horse racing. More things to come!

    Love you, Ben.

  • Betty,

I loved this video. Could you do a video on how to cook and prepare a whole artichoke?

  • drank coffee in 3

  • Some of those dishes look so yummy, I was curious so stopped the film to read descriptions..just a question though, what's "jowl cracklings?"

  • @karlalana Jowl is the jaw or cheek meat of a pig. It can be turned into cracklings by rendering it into fat and squeezing the meat that is left behind. It's like crispy, crunchy bacon--like bacon rinds you get in a snack bag.

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for the recommendation! I really wanna visit the south:)

  • Do both of you drink coffee? What kind do you drink? Thanks for the videos!

  • @lidsman2221 Rick does not drink coffee at all. I make single cups of coffee with a Keurig coffeemaker. I like a type called Kona.

    --Betty :)

  • hii betty i love your videos , can you do a recipe on that sandwich meal you ate? it looks yummy. and i was wondering what is "pimentos"

  • Hi Betty and Rick,

Thank you both for the recipes and field trips. I enjoy them so much.

I live in Chicago and have traveled to Kentucky a few times. I think that Kentucky is one of the most beautifulest states in this country and the people are all so friendly. The two of you are great ambassadors for the state.

  • Nice Sandwich :D

  • Betty, love you videos:) What kind of camera do you use...the pics are so clear...especially the outdoor shots! Thanks and keep up the good work!!!

  • @atouchofcountrysweet Hi! Thanks for your lovely comment! The camera we use is a Canon PowerShot S5 IS (8.0 megapixels). We have had it for a long time, so I'm not sure they still make that model, but we have been really satisfied with it!

    --Betty :)
