why are you arguing over alcohol or weed? There's times in my life that I like weed more, time's that I like drinking more. Weed can make an otherwise smart individual turn into a burnout, a lazy fuck, a mcdonalds employee for years. Weed can also inspire your creativity and expand your mind in ways you never knew existed. Alcohol can completely fuck up someone's life, or it could be used to make someone who doesn't have it in them to hit on girls or be loud to be someone different.

If you say that psychoactive substances are all drugs, then so are alcohol, caffeine and nicotine.. Not to mention the shit Big Pharma supplies us with.. Xanax, Ritalin, Aderall, Vicodin, Prozac and god knows what else..

The real question is: Does the consumption of such substances bother or hurt anyone besides the consumers? If not: Leave it be.. If so: Policy should be made to prevent society from suffering under said consumtion...Now ask yourself if the current policy does that.

Up until the religious babble, I agreed with you. However, spirit does not overcome addiction, as much as fanatics wish it would.

Alcohol is a powerful drug. Some people cannot function at their highest level while sober without alcohol in their near future. I personally drink every three days or so. Do I make mistakes while drunk? Certainly. Have I made alot of friends and professional connections while drunk? Absolutely.

Being an "alcoholic" is giving up and blaming failures on booze.
