  • I played this in High School band grade 12. I had the alto flute solo and loved it!! (note they use a horn in this version, less mysterious and mellow than the flute was) This is a fairly good version but I'm sorry to say I was less than impressed with the singing at the beginning.

  • we played it too a in my orchestra a few years ago - and I'm sorry but our version is the better one - and we had an english horn - it was great!

  • I love this piece, but really wish you'd used an English Horn for the solo in movement 2.

  • I played this in 3rd year University. It is a gorgeous piece and I feel like I am being transported back to the middle ages.

I love the transition leading into 4:27. I know it is hard given the percussion crescendo, but I would like to have heard a clearer trumpet quintuplet figure coming from that transition (could be the recording)

  • i'm so glad i found a good(!) record of this wonderful piece. most orchestras play it terribly bad...

  • Good, but where's the third movement?

  • woman: 'that was some nice wispering at 8 min or so.'

    man: 'yeah, I know.'

  • This arr. is from Hendry van Loo

    info: Bronsheim Netherlands

  • Yea, that's it - An Age of Kings!, ta.

  • Isn't this piece called Trumpets of the Angels?

  • Trumpet of the angels is an other piece by Gregson. This piece is originally for wind band, it's arranged for fanfare band by a dutch arranger. For brassband it's called"an Age of Kings". Best wishes,

    Frans-Aert Burghgraef.

  • We hebben heel erg genoten van jullie optreden!! Het was geweldig!
