My dad played Waylon Jennings everytime we go waterfowl hunting here in California. Back when I was 6. ten years later and I went back to Waylon, thanks to youtube and Now Im looking for some musical Guidance for my guitar and bass playing and simple piece of mind. the World Is A Horrible Place. But Waylon Makes Everything Better. Thank you Waylon. YOUR MUSIC LIVES ON BUDDYY!!!!
Waylon had a unique way of picking his guitar using his pick and alternately finger picking along with it and I think he was kind of secretive about it, not wanting to give away his unique sound.
Waylon was THE man! He hung the damn moon! Waymore's BLUES 4EVER!!! Find Shooter, listen, & watch as he climbs his own mountain...same as his Daddy, he will reach the apex with NO problem!
FEB 8TH, Waylon tribute album will be released...there will be three albums, like I said, the first will be released FEB 8TH, WAYLON JENNINGS, GREATEST OF ALL TIME.
This is the real deal here, back in the 70s era heavy smoking, drinking, and drugs.Waylon lived to sing about them from the heart. Grew up in Little field Texas with A choice of picking cotton or play the guitar. Seems he made the right choice.
shilo ... you said it ... when he sings "I don't think Hank done it this way," Hank was the greatest, but ol Waylon chicken picks that axe as mean and ornery & plain down home country as it gets. No, Waylon don't need no lead guitarist.
Waylon could pick the guitar like no other. Waylon was his own lead-guitarist. Waylon took 'western swing' and 'rocked it up'. A role model for the country artists of today...30-40 years ago.
@shilo901 shilo ... you said it ... when he sings "I don't think Hank done it this way," Hank was the greatest, but ol Waylon chicken picks that axe as mean and ornery & plain down home country as it gets, and in the 70s it didn't get no better. No, Waylon don't need no lead guitarist.
Ol hoss killin it like no other remember Nashville you needed Waylon a lot more than Waylon ever needed you ha ha miss ya hoss , save me a fresh horse
Waylon's music was a Runaway freight train, and his destination was to reach the state of GREATEST OF ALL TIME, he not only reached it, he will stay there for eternity...
He was and is the only artist that was bigger then the genre of music he played, he became bigger then the nashville system. When you think about that, you realize, you will never see greatness like this again.
What a great band, the one and only moon on the steel, Waylon's great tele pickin' and Gordon Payne, with the harmonica work. I've got a dvd from a friend, who went to a Dukesfest, with Waylon's brother Tommy, The Crickets and Gordon Payne was there. He is a super-talented guy.
There simply never was anybody before of since in country music like Waylon Jennings!!!!! What an amazing man!!!!! Also I've never heard anyone playing guitar like him either......Way COOL!!!! *****
@BloozeDaddy76 100 percent right my friend! They don't make them like Waylon anymore....a great songwriter and a damn fine musician. Country has really lost its way over the last several years. It will never recapture this sound again
@BloozeDaddy76 Most people don't realize what a fine guitar player he was. Watch the Nassau Concert part 2 and hear what Johnny Cash has to say about Waylon. He was self taught and I will always believew the finest country and western singer ever. Gone too soon., Love you Waylon always. Stephanie

Plain old American man singing American music. No warbling, no autotune, no whining, just guts and balls and one of the greatest voices ever.
