I suggest grabbing a tank from the machine store, grab a full inventory of cannons for it. equip a cannon and then deposit the tank in the hangar
/mark the hangar then /transport to Melbourne Supply 48 or Melbourne Supply 19 and kill stuff. Press tab to release your safety then lock on and shoot with the mouse. Tanks are free and disposable. Use them untill you can get a decent stock mech from the store with weapons. Sell your training mechs in the hangar. They fail.
I do not reccommend crafting unless you are prepared to have a dedicated character for it with max Luck for defensive purposes and spending hours AFK while auto mining/crafting with a bot program. thats about the only grindy playstyle in this game.
UCGO is not a "Korean grind style" mmo. Its mainly PVP focused, the enemy mobs are pretty much only out there for beginner players to earn money for their startup mech, to train your AMBAC, and for guilds to farm parts from. You earn money for damage done to an enemy, even enemy players. And skills increase by use whether they are successful or not.
Lmao for me anything that is "grindy" even stat wise is Korean style lol. I mean common you gotta walk so many hours for a .1 ms point. That is the epidermal definition of grind.

You couldn't find other players because you started in melbourne, all of the Zeon players hang out in brisbane.
at least learn the / commands like /taxi, /getoff, /transport, and /mark instead of walking everywhere.
I suggest finding a Team/Guild immediately, they will hook you up with supplies as long as you dont break them too carelessly.

about the pilot stats
Strength - Attack power. Affects all types of attacks, not just melee.
Spirit – Accuray, chance to get critical hit and chance to block with shield.
Luck – Chance to dodge attacks.
