  • <3 where you put the instructions... I do that same thing myself!!! xD

  • I built a computer yesterday (Feb 2012) and this video is completely applicable and helpful. All the technology and how it fits together is essentially the same as when this video was created. Thanks for the vid, it definitely helped me.

  • love that u demo-ing in ur kitchen :)

  • Nice video Just two things the bag that comes with the psu is for molex connectors modular connectors left over that you may have. Also that case is water cooled modded case so you can put a water cooling radiator on the top of the case

  • I build my new computer following this, and it worked perfectly! THANKYOU!

  • Minus that whole motherboard part, I could totally do this. Only problem is the pc wouldn't work but man I would be proud of myself.

  • really really helpful vid, the first time ive watched a full 2 hour vid on youtube. I use to feel unstable about building my own pc in a few months,, but I am really confident in building it now.

Even when ivy bridge comes out im on a budget of 1 grand and have configure an i7 gtx 570 gaming pc for 980 quid. All is well :)

  • 16:15

    LOOLL :D:D:D:D:DD:

  • i already know how to build PC's but i gotta say this is a nice video, you explain things very well and ill show this video to friends who don't know how to build their own PC's

  • So i watched the whole video and it really helped me, thanks alot!! :)

  • Are you going to make an updated version?

  • Man you are a legend ! You inspired me too build my own gaming pc, iv picked all my components and there really good :) by the way I'm Irish so it's going to cost me 1,500 euro... Thanks for this video :):)

  • nice!

i would my dad was so interesting in pc's =pp

  • i can do this

  • would there be like a stock OS instead of an installed OS once everything is done?

  • @turkmage33 windows 7 or osx lion or snow leopard only btw linux too but windows 7 is best for gaming

  • @WhiteythaEnjoiPaNDA i mean once everything is set up, and you turn the pc on without any OS installed, would there be a stock OS already running?

  • @turkmage33 no

you have to buy it seperatly

    windows 7 best for gaming

OS Lion or Snow Leopard just Mac (Not alot of Games You Can Play)

Linux(cheapest but not for gaming its for servers)

I have windwos 7 $100 is the cheapest

  • can you install the ram before the cpu cooler??? i know its kinda a stupid question but some people have trouble fitting their memory :/

  • @cgDominion Yes, you can. A lot of times you have to do so, too.

  • Thank you for breaking down everything. I was thinking about building my own computer for gaming and didn't know where to start, but now I know. Much thanks.

  • im gonna order a super combo just for the bubble wrap

  • 3rd Time seeing this video and still makes me Laugh :)

  • gtx 460 for gaming ? lmao

  • @iiSpiCeR 460 is fine for gaming what you on about.

  • i really want to build a quality gaming pc, i bought a $3000 gaming laptop with geforce 560m gpu, core i7 etc but its still not as powerful/fast as i want it. how should i go about learning how to build an have basic knowledge of a pc. also can you connect it to a tv an getting optimal graphics

  • @Jak3HxC if the tv has a resolution of 1920x1080 yes

  • Can't watch in 720p Youtube gives error :( Well actually I don't need to watch this video even, cause I builded my pc already <3

  • after 1 hour and 20 minutes, i only just noticed he has arcade gaming machines in the room down the hallway :D

  • I love how he just throws everything on the ground. lmfao.

  • man. everyone has that HAF case. lol.

  • Epic...

  • does the gigabyte gtx 460 work good with games like mw3, bf3?

  • @bro13238 it runs mw3 over 70 frames. As for battlefield 3 it wont be able to run ultra settings smoothly but it will run medium or low at a decent 38 frames

  • @TheAlbinoGoron thank you

  • @bro13238 its a great card but you should get the hd 6870 it runs bf3 on high 50 fps, as well its the same price as the 460

  • @TheAlbinoGoron nice i,ll check it out thanks for the help bro

  • @bro13238 no problem but make sure you have 550 Watt psu for it.

  • wtf 2 hours long video

  • Wow your really Good :)

  • Woah, that's a pretty beefy stock cooler. When I bought my AMD CPU (x4 960t) it came with little more that a chunk of aluminium with it.

  • Im new with computers but ive been playing on a laptop for a long time and was wondering what would be a good setup to run counterstrike source on hitting atleast 300 fps min on

    ? any suggestions?

  • I think Im going to build my own computer for gaming, I'll buy a different piece with every paycheck I get, I make enough to buy all if it now but I dont wanna blow all my money with 1 purchase.

  • Nice charlie sheen look

  • super duper video great job sir .. now i will be on work for one for me :)

  • thanks to this video, i was able to buiild a $500 budget computer

able to play crysis 2 ultra :D

  • "This motherboard manual is critical, take care of it." *throws manual off camera*

I just lol'd so hard. That was great.

  • ive been really wantin to build myself a rig if i was to have 500 budget could i vuild a rig capable of running a modern game on max settings?

  • @ALLIED7621 Nope.

  • @CareyHolzman Hi Man! I want to hear you`re opinion. What you think between AMD Radeon ATI HD XFX Shapphire 7970 3 GB - And The GeForce GTX 590. I have both card already buyed. I have the 590 for long time, and a week ago i boughr the 7970. Wich is stronger?

  • @CareyHolzman you can for like $600

with like a AMD Athlon II X2 Processor 250

    Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P

    SAPPHIRE 100315L Radeon HD 6850

    4gb ram

  • @Armaangandevia1 i don't think that won't run them at high. maybe medium or some older games on high, but you will have to have a triple core at the minimum. unless you can run BF3 on a machine like that, then really you shouldn't say that.

  • @ALLIED7621 What do you think a reasonable amount would be because I have a friend who could put it together for me, sorry I literally know NOTHING about computers haha

  • @ALLIED7621 To play modern games at max resolution, you can expect to pay about that much just for your video card. Some where between $1000 to $1500 depending on which games you want to play at max resolution (some require more RAM, other require a better video card, and yet others require both). If you lower your resolution to something more reasonable, you could build one for about $750. Visit Maximum PC for details.

  • @CareyHolzman alright thanks man id probably want to [;ay rpg's so skyrim mass effect, the witcher those types of games and id just keep the shooters to my console

  • @CareyHolzman i managed it with components available on amazon.

    i5-2500k OC'ed to 4.5ghz and a 6850, 8gb 1600mhz ram. max settings and i dont go below 30fps on BF3, shogun 2 etc.

    it is possible.

  • @CareyHolzman 1000$? I don't think so.

    i5 2500K ~ 200$

    ASUS P8P67 ~ 120$

    XFX 6870 ~ 180$

    Case ~ 50$

    PSU ~ 60$

    RAM ~ 30 - 40$

  • @phaaaz Where;s your optical drive and your hard drive? Sure, I can do it if I leave out critical parts.

  • @CareyHolzman Damn. I knew I forgot something. :D

    Okay .. Optical drive ~ 20$ Hard drive ~ 60 - 70$.

    Still not 1000$ ^^

  • @phaaaz No OS?

  • @CareyHolzman 90$ for Win 7 Pro :P

I think thats all. But actually you're right.. You don't have to spend 1000$ but it sure would be better.

  • @ALLIED7621 to build a comp that can play bf3 crysis 2 and all them now a day games its going to cost you between 2000 and 3000 depending on how smoth you want your gamply to be

  • @ALLIED7621 Hell yeah u can! check out "tomshardware"doootcom"/reviews/core-i5-overclock-performance-gaming,3097

If u reuse my monitor, keyboard, mouse, CD drive, and a Hard drive. Thats what im doing in april after ivy is released. Toms Hardware is just an awesome site!

  • @ALLIED7621 You can build a rig that plays most games on max for under $1000

  • @ALLIED7621 i built an amd 6 core computer with a radeon 6770 graphics card and can run any game full settings, costed 600 bucks. if your on a budget and need power go with amd, if you have money go with intel

  • @ALLIED7621 He's not exactly correct. Maybe in the future if you can get a video card worth at least 150$ you could run BF3 pretty decent on a quad-core.

  • @ALLIED7621 for $600 you can build a rig that can run all games on max or in some cases only high settings.

  • @ALLIED7621 Save 200$ more ,with 700$ you can build yourself a very nice gaming rig

  • @ALLIED7621 well yeah actually you could, an amd 790x mobo with a amd phenom ii 1055t six core and 16 gigs 1866 mhz ddr3 ram will cost you around 175 and you could always stick a used video card in like an ati hd5770 1gb card and you shouldnt have problems running games on max. This set up is considering you have a decent power supply and case to use

  • @ALLIED7621 Don't listen to that crap for 650-700 you can build a computer that can max almost everything except bf3 and maybe skyrim and those on high with good fps

  • @hugh705 yeah i did more research into the subject and just decided to go witha cyberpower blackpearl its more expensive but at least i kn ow im getting somethin good ! and yeah that was bs cus i looked it up and you can max most games with a decent rig

  • @hugh705 dont you want a pc that you can still use in years to come as games get higer resolutions and a lot better gameplay? for a 650-700 computer, probably wont be up to scratch in a short while..

  • @ALLIED7621 Yes you could if you do it right

  • @ALLIED7621

$500 is doable, depending on what parts you already have. You might try getting some used parts on eBay. Here is a good chart to show what price range for low-mid-and high level gaming PCs i.imgur(.)com/QbuJR.jpg

  • @JohnnyOU08 thanks for the help much more helpful than "nope"

  • @ALLIED7621 You could if you got every thing used.

  • @ALLIED7621 an Intel core i3 (Sandy Bridge), MSI Twin Frozr II GTX 560 Ti, (G.Skill / Mushkin) 4gb of RAM, The Maximus IV GENE-Z (motherboard), Cooler Master HAF 912 (PC Case), WD 500gb / 1tb Caviar black, XFX / Corsair / Seasonic PSU @ 650watt-750watt bronze power supply, Asus 24x DVD and cooler master hyper 212 plus would probably be a good budget rig, you could probably go a LITTLE cheaper. even an AMD 555 (to 955) unlocked and OC'd w/ the right mobo will get you were U need to go.

  • I bought and built a 800$ computer in september last year and I almost want to buy a new one just to build it. It's so fun!

  • Nicely done video. I have been wanting to build my first PC for awhile now.

  • Thanks a lot Carey Holzman. I've learned a lot with your 2-hr video. I like the way you teach, its very clear. This is the first time I've watch a 2-hr video that isn't a movie. your video is not boring or somewhat dry. Awesome!!

  • lol, dog's just walkin around doing his thang..

  • very helpful video, thanks a ton.

  • hey i have the same power supply but some reason it burned out

  • Is it safe (for me and the hardware) to build my own computer if my hands/fingers sweat? I have palmar hyperhidrosis. Please respond. Thanks!

  • @Jeffff23 you could were gloves?

  • Gotta say Carey your video How To Build a Gaming Computer gave me some inspiration to build my own gotta say thanks alot ill sub :)

  • thanks so much man i was a bit worried about building my one but it seems very simple

  • You have the same processor and motherboard as i have :)

  • I find it very educational video for a Gaming PC to build up, I respect it.

  • Alot of time watching this video I move my mouse to close this video But I can't :D

    GOOD WORK :)

  • One of the most helpful videos I've seen on youtube yet. 10/10

  • I watched the whole thing -.-

  • he's a goast

  • Nice video. One suggestion to folks that don't have a strong tech background: be careful with your plugs. Carey "feels" out the connectors with what looks like a lot of wiggling. This is ok to find alignment with plug tabs/slots but be careful not to wiggle the plug around once you're already started insertion. This can lead to broken pins, loose wires and other things that will cause loss of connectivity between components. Always line up your connectors and then push them straight in.

  • very good video! U make computer building look so easy lol.

  • Always use the box not the bag to set the motherboard on! The outside of the bag is conductive but the cardboard box is not.

  • @froggytv Excellent suggestion!

  • lol the little jokes you make

  • what is the total cost of all the components used?

  • @myassin2009 The exact amount shown and mentioned throughout the video.

  • Cute big dog :p, cool vid need use this vid when i build my computer :p

  • Very helpful thank. We appreciate the time you took to do this thanks alot.

  • Carey thank you so much for making this video bcuz im trying to get into pc gaming and stuff and i really wanted to know how to build a pc bcuz i heard it was better to build one and also thank you for that you can just type in supercombo on newegg and they already got the stuff ready for you when you buy and i have a question can you pick your Operating system bcuz i like Windows 7 the most

  • Thank you so much for this video. I want to build my first gaming PC soon and I'm a complete newbie so I was afraid it would be very difficult. But you explained everything very well!

  • usb 3.0 is just like usb 2.0 but blue!

  • though i would consider myself 'smart' enough to build a computer, i like watching these kinds of videos to reinforce what i already know, and perhaps even pick up a few tips.

    thanks for the video

  • can you touvh the motherbord and the other stuff if you have gloves on? pliz answer me...

  • @NoddyFish You can - but you shouldn't.

  • Anybody notice the classic Galaga arcade game in the back?

  • this was extremely helpful glad i spent 2 hours watching this was highly informative and great tips for preventing mistakes even if it made the video last longer every bit of information was good.at first i was torn between buying a computer and building one but now i think i may actually build one.

  • I'm not sure is you will see this, but I want to thank you for taking the time to make this video. Thanks to you, I built a $800 computer that will out-perform more expensive brand name computers.

  • Why don't you just get like an Alienware laptop?

  • @Nicklovesgames Alienware are overpriced piece of crap.

  • @Nicklovesgames You obviously don't know about Alienware, they push "High Quality" but really your getting a "Eye Candy" case. Anything worth getting that is as expensive as one of their laptops is a Razer Blade. They're computers are really nothing to boast about.

  • 1TB 7200 RPM

    8GB DDr3

    Cooler Master HAF ATX

    Corsair Enthusiast Series 750-Watt

    Radeon XFX HD 6970

    ASUS LGA 1155

    Intel Core i5-2500K Processor

    What do you think?

  • I am very much interested to know when will your 2011 video will be released .

  • @matrixistrue If I release my 2011 video in 2012, wouldn't it be a 2012 video?

  • That Was The Longest Video I've Ever Seen On Youtube

Also The The Most Useful I've Ever Seen

Thank You So Much Sirand Know I'm Choosing Parts For My New Case

    and i'll go with Intel® Core™ i7-2600K Processor (8M Cache, 3.40 GHz)

it's original heatsink is really badis it ok to buy an aftermarket heatsink like CM V8 or something any other TypeThanks Again

  • lol the hard drive is way cheaper than today. That hard drive is like $90 today, nutzzz

  • Hats off to you , for having lots of patience and trying to show us How to build a gaming computer.

I am very much interested to know when will your 2011 video will be released .

  • Dude why did you do that you never want to even touch your motherboard then you go and wipe it with a dirty ass rag omg you not very good at listening he said look at how I'm handling this like 1000000 times

  • Can someone tell me if using a dirty rag to wipe dust off my motherboard was a bad idea? Since then my pc has done nothing but crash 15 mins into use.. =((

  • @ThisfckingGuy123 You never want to wipe your computer components with anything, that is what compressed air is made for. You can buy compressed air at any computer store, its for getting the dust out. The motherboard is extremely delicate...

  • Thank you for your time and effort making this video.. it has helped out a lot !

  • @Firstpeek You are very welcome. Thanks for letting me know you appreicate the time and effort that went into to creating it.

  • I see arcade games on the left!

  • I spent way to much time wondering if that was a galaga machine, and remembering how much i love arcade galaga

  • Hello, I'm 14, and you sir, just helped me build my first ever computer... tHANKYOU :)

  • @bjmadman312 Hey, im 16, I was just wondering, did you buy the exact same parts as he did? Im putting in $1000 into a gaming pc that I want to build, but im afraid theres going to be something different than whats shown in this video, resulting in me not being able to finish it lol.

  • I'm new to computer building, so when I heard you say you will explain everything and assume I know nothing around 6:45, I almost jumped out of my seat in excitement.

  • Build a gaming computer for 2012 for Fleming Computer Tech

bye the way whats a good anti virus for 2012?

  • @TheCoolbreeze26 I recommend the free Microsoft Security Essentials with the paid version of MalwareBytes. That is what keeps all of my customers protected 100%!

  • @CareyHolzman no avg? O.o

  • @Hardy123Zhao Not recommended any more. Uses too much system resources and slows the PC down and too many advertisements.

  • @CareyHolzman and does it have to be the paid version of malwarebytes? Isn't the free version good enough?

  • @Hardy123Zhao Free version is only good for removing infections you already have. Paid version helps to prevent getting infected, which is much more important. Besides, unlike most antivirus, you buy MalwareBytes once. No annual subscription.

  • Thanks! I learnt a whole bunch! I am building my gaming desktop in the near future . sure will be revising some of your handy tips :)

  • Would you suggest using an anti static wrist strap, sorry if you said this in the video i have watched them both twice but may have forgotten :) 5/5 stars anyway nice guide!
