When I phoned the parents of the bullies, not all but many of the Christian parents laughed and made jokes about their kids bullying other kids. They always defended their kids' right to bully kids perceived as being gay.
So, Focus On The Family's idea of tolerance is to ignore the differences between people, pretend that we're all the same and ignore the problem. Instead of respecting the fact that we aren't all the same, educating the students on these difference and solving the problem once and for all.

Only recently the Catholic Church said that they respect homosexuals, but still they are against the sexual acts of gays. The more people say we don't need to talk about gay, bisexual, lesbian, transgender, etc. getting picked on, harassed, bullied, or even killed will just let kids think that it is perfectly fine to do so.
I'm in high school, I'm gay, I was and still am being bullied, I brought it to the principals attention, he didn't do shit. Kids still make terrible jokes and make fun of lgbt kids and I'm getting sick of it. This needs to stop now.

What Candy fails to understand is that just because a lifestyle isn't Christian doesn't mean it's not legitimate. It's true that kids develop sexual confusion during their teenage years, but the last thing the schools should do is shut down whenever somebody mentions homosexuality. Some kids probably will call themselves homosexual once they reach adulthood, and this extreme form of censorship drives them away from their legitimate lifestyle that, believe it or not, is not Christian.

Read the studies by psychologist Dan Olweus. He pioneered interventions at curbing bullying in Norway schools which worked very well. Google his name and the first result is "Olweus Bullying Prevention Program"
The Act they are proposing is basically one of the methods he used which is to stop name-calling and bullying behaviors etc. However, to curb it, educators and school should learn how to foster cooperation and empathy among the students, those at risk of bullying and the bullies.

The anti-Gay speaker repeatedly avoided questions, instead hashing out her pre-prepared spiel. The Pro-Gay speaker kind of avoided one question towards the end but did answer all other's directly as far as I noticed. The neutral speaker clearly varified what the pro-gay speaker was saying as accurate/realistic. Good to see :).
My use of "pro" and "anti" gay are of course oversimplifications. Thx for sharing the video, good news broadcast too, giving a good spectrum of viewpoints.

This is a very thin veil for hatred and oppression. I taught middle and high schools and it was the kids from Christian families that treated gay-acting kids the cruelest. When I phoned the parents of the bullies, not all but many of the Christian parents laughed and made jokes about their kids bullying other kids. They always defended their kids' right to bully kids perceived as being gay.

Only recently the Catholic Church said that they respect homosexuals, but still they are against the sexual acts of gays. I wouldn't say that most Christians are bullies, but there are those that use religious beliefs as weapons against the people they discriminate

Exactly how do you promote homosexuality. Wanna be gay, promote anti-bullying. lol. How the hell can she say with a straight face (no pun intended) that it doesn’t matter why they were bullied? So if the kids were bullied because they were black it would not matter why? Is that promoting a black agenda? Of course it would matter. You have to figure out the why within a problem. The why does not matter to her in this isolated case because she is a hateful, bigoted homophone.

Any political group with "Family" in the name is evil and uses "Family" as false pretence for respect. The fact that these people put the feared "gay agenda" above the suicide of kids issue shows how little concern they have for the family.

@LunchAnderson To be fair though, they don't go out of their way to be evil like the American counter parts. I actually was emailing the president of the group and it took a very long time to get any statement about homosexuality. Instead they are a very censor-happy group - they're the ones who strive to get all the "tasteless" movies and stuff banned.

Allowing Focus on the Family to voice their views on this show is equivalent to allowing the KKK to come on and denounce efforts to prevent bullying of racial minorities.
What Focus on the Family is basically saying is, "We would prefer that gay kids, or kids who act gay, get beat up and ostracized so that they'll stop being that way and come to accept our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, perhaps converting their parents along the way."
These people are nutjob fascists.
