How to Fly a 4Ch RC Plane Using Rudder

Isn't 3 CH Throttle, elevator, and Rudder? How do you fly a 3 channel if you said that you can't only use the rudder to turn. I purchased a plane that can be 3 CH or 4 CH. I'm a beginner so i want to start with 3 CH, but how will it work if i dont have ailerons to turn?

@MrMikeProductionz What he said was making a turn using rudder only. You will bank the plane and lose lift cause your wing surface is no longer creating lift. You can you rudder if you use elevator with it. A 3 channel plane will still lose lift while turning using rudder with no elevator. Beginner planes are just more forgiving because the angle of the wings will help self level.

@jrkclk Rudder doesn't bank the plane, it yaws it. Ailerons are the primary control of bank or roll the plane while rudder is secondary. To turn the plane ailerons should be used with elevator. To make a clean, crisp coordinated turn you also you rudder. 3 channel planes are "more forgiving" as you said because of how cambered the wings are typically.

how real does g3 feel to flying a real rc plane? I was going to buy it and the g5 is expensive. I have a reasonable bid for g3. Does it feel exactly like the real one or is the real rc flying harder?

Ali,I have a J3 Cub BL 3 channel that I am learing to fly with..(very hard w/o sim).... why make a 3 channel rc plane when a 4 channel seems easier to fly or is there more of a learning curve with a 4 channel? Also the Redcat Jetiger has only is a 3 chan right?..... no rudder but you can fly it like a 4 chan....? And can the 4chan Radio system with the Redcat planes be used with Clearview or Realflight sims? Thanks!!

@alishanmao How doesthe Redcat Jetiger fly like a 4-6 chan if it is only 3 chan? The "delta wing" plane flys like that beacuase it is using a "spoilerron" as an alieron and rudder? There is no rudder so it is just elevator and alieron right?

@beatlesfan132 it will yaw, but you need to use rudder either slowly or with intervals, like move rudder, center stick, move rudder center stick. this way plane will not stall

G'day alishan. great videos mate! i'm just getting into rc planes myself and have a trainer 4 channel. i'm buying a futaba 7c from hobby king and am looking at greatplanes basic flight sim. do these sims come with the appropriate cable for futaba radios? because i want to use my radio, or do you have to buy the cable seperately?

@alishanmao I got the Dynam USB Simulator and it works great but the only thing that makes landings difficult as I can't see the land where to land soon enough. I have made a few landings though.

@thetwodrunkies Beginners should not buy EDF jets. You will crash it on first flight and never be able to fly it. Start with Art Tech Cessna 182 or J3 cub

Hey alishanmao........i been flying the helis for a year and have good control of them. I been flying the planes on the sim and its very easy it seems.....on the sim.

But i just bought a parkzone messerschmitt BF-109G which is a docile kind of warbird but can fly fast if u want it to. I'm told i will plough it into the earth.....still a beginner. Am i a COMPLETE beginner??? Please say no......so that i can hold u responsible for my first crash. ;-)

@maccanaut yes you will crash it as that is a warbird with low wings design. They are not easy to fly for beginners. you are a beginners for Planes cuz helis and planes are totally different. YOu should get a J3 Cub or Cessna to start with.

Universal rule. Pulling on stick down plane goes up, pushing it up, plane goes down remember.

@MrAtomicPickle If the actual elevator flaps (the ones stuck to the back of the plane) deflect UP, the airflow pushes the elevator flaps (and hence the tail) DOWN, which makes the nose go UP (because the plane pivots about the wings). So elevator UP, nose UP. Elevator down, nose DOWN.

Exactly so do not use too much Rudder input and always use rudder in balance, cuz only with rudder you can control the plane, its a bit difficult but not that :) you will get hang of it.

NIce job, love the vids. My first plane was rudder/elevator only and I crashed it like you demonstrated before I bought the FSone simulator and trained. Very good tool for learning, before I bought my second plane I did lots of simulator time. Wish I bought the sim first!
