@jamlane Mark Hollis isn't up to anything these days, sadly. He retired from music back in about 1998, moved out to Suffolk and hasn't been heard from since. A huge shame.
Ich liebe diese Stimme. Ich liebe diesen Mann. Ich liebe Talk Talk. In meinem nächsten Leben möchte ich bitte diesem Mann einmal begegnen. Was für eine Stimme. EINMALIG! Ein Geschenk!
The best track of Talk Talk, in a perfect rendition at Veronica's Rocknight. I remember staying up 'till about 4 am for this concert that was live on tv in Holland. Talk Talk was mesmerizing. And still is.
This Bass line is an absolute piece of Genius...The bass player is the reason why I started to play bass... dude he is one of the best in the world, completely underrated...
I was one of the lucky people that went to that concert in 1984. I won tickets to the show and at the time wasn' t really sure if I wanted to go. Not a big Talk Talk fan at the time. Glad I did go however because it was on of the best shows I ever saw.
Fabulous show, great sound, great musicians...what a great experience that was.
Saw this live on Dutch TV in the middle of the night when I was 16 back in '84. Must be one of the best live performances ever. My videotape of it has long worn out so praise to youtube and its users for sharing this with us all!
I heard this live and was just mesmerized at how good and yet different from the studio version this is. The music runs the tension, discord and angst like an emotional spectrum that is just wonderfully well composed tapestry.
I think i was there, Yes i was unther the same drugs as the band so thats why i am not surtene of it. So good and bad mamories of the 80ties This band is one of the best bands ever.,,,,~~~~,,,,,,....,,,
No no no Tim never played live, only once in 1985 where they played Dum Dum Girl, he never played live. If you are taling bout the black piano player that's not him, the other piano player is Ian Curnow.
God this guy could sing. Wowee. There's doovde, live in Montreaux, that I highly recommend (although they look terrible, Hollis is wearing flip flops), if mainstream music of the 2000s was a quarter as accomplished as this, the record business would be rocking. TT's old label EMI are on the verge of going bust because they turned away from bands like this (and they have the audacity to blame the fans and new technology - assholes). Thanks for posting this great clip of this beautiful song xx.
god where have i been? this band makes me weep. i love watching them play live. wish i discovered them sooner. wished i could've seen them live. ahead of their time millions of years!!!!!!!!
There is NOTHING MORE that can be said than "Mark Hollis is the Best!"...well said!.... By far "Tomorrow started" is the Most Outstanding cut by Talk Talk! Very intellectual lyrics, GREAT VOICE, Haunting Chords! EXLNT performance! way ahead of that decade IMO..The essence of a REAL musical Masterpiece!
Hollis is genious. Great vocals, impeccable timing. I'd love to see them in concert. If anyone out there knows whether they still perform live in concert, please post!! I'll be in the front row.
as always talk talk are wonderful band ,,but here Markis great!! song soft an sweet and him very very sensual ..very sofisticate with this look ..I 'm your fan ..I desire you a lot I hope You are about the same now instead you left concert and the world music ..I love your voice ..
Love the delay before the word "tried" on the intro. Points up Hollis' impeccable sense of timing. Everything here is so deliberate....nothing rushed. Thanks for the upload, BlackLabel.
Pleased to be tolerant of my ignorance (I understand very little of your language).I'll watch your "video response" and promise to pay close attention!
Where the "heaven" does the word "tried" comes from (minute 1:10)? That's not human, it's the very soul singing!!! Oh my Gosh, never get tired of this song/album.
This video is great! Mark Hollis cannot get enough credits, what a unique performer. Also great to see how they let the great Roland Jupiter 8 synthesizer scream! 5* video!
You are welcome! The synthesizer used for the pad sound is a Roland JX3P with PG200 programmer. OMG, 3 Jupiter 8 synths on stage as well!! The bended scream sound is just phenomenal! Paul Webb on bass ...... WOW!
I have seen a few lip synchs in their videos -- could be what the media bigs require. But, whenever the guy is live, the passion is amazing and he is always so true to the original recording. I really enjoy watching the guy sing. On the new stuff, he just makes such amazing expressions out of so little. Very instructive and inspiring. If you love what you do this much and work at it, it has to be good. This is good.
SUPER I LIKE IT !!!!!! SUB ME ; PLEACE

Hollis takes SO much care in reproducing his vocals the way one would want it to be done in concert. Compare against Jagger or Roth.
