  • How did the commissioner get there suddenly??

  • Zandor can't come to the phone right now but, if you leave your name, number and message, your call will be returned in seventy-five years...muuuuhhhhaaaawaaaaa!!!!!

  • I'd heard that they were originally going to call in Itchy Nuts 1999 but Lew Grade felt that it would be confusing for the audience.

  • 47:50 is chilling

  • A wonderfully terrifying twist. In my top five Space 1999 episodes, but #1 has to be Dragon’s Domain

  • That was very disturbing about what happened to Simmons. It would have been better for Him if the ship had just blown up, but than the others would have died too.

  • Commissioner Simmonds sounds a lot like Dr Smith from Lost In Space....and i know it was the mid 1970s, but the show was set at the end of the century, and no one was wearing bell bottoms in the year 1975. The show looks dated because of the bell-bottoms. Otherwise, the acting and special effects look top rate.

  • Commissioner Simmonds sounds a lot like Dr Smith from Lost In Space..

  • @3dartistguy They used a Mitchell 35mm camera and Arriflex.Hollywood uses Panavision.England at the time used Arriflex.Space:1999 did things differently and much better than everyone else.

  • well ladeeda...except for good scripts, acting, direction, and a totally unbelievable premise..

  • Brilliant irony

  • Don't you feel bad for Simmonds? The Alphans did.

  • won the lottery

  • i felt sorry for Simmonds

  • @ubelieveinme2oo I did too. I kind of freaked when he was trapped in that bubble. The life lesson here is good things happen to those who wait.

  • @scringe1 yeah we both agree. We feel sorry for Simmonds.the Alphans seemed sad that that happenend to him and I'm with the Alphans.we Are with the Alphans.

  • @scringe1 Someone who probably filmed this show said year 1 was filmed so that any network could play it in any order.IOW's this was filmed so that chronology of episodes was not an issue.Ingenious when you think about it.He said that the order of shows depended on where you lived what tv station was airing Space:1999.This show was filmed in 35mm just like a a 35mm camera. From there it was put onto video. The reason was 35mm at that time was the best for special effects.Ingenious.

  • If I remember right, the Eagles with the red stripes are medical ships. Why were that type of Eagles launched at the beginning when it was either a meet and greet, or a possible hostile situation?

  • @Spyderblade001

Technically, there's only one type of Eagle...the striped medical lab is a specialized pod that's exchanged for the standard pod; I imagine that it was intended pre-breakaway for mass casualty events at mining and scientific stations remote from Alpha.

  • @baraxor That would make sense, along with being comparable to an ambulance, but still, that type of module makes no sense in that situation. The standard module would make more sense...or maybe one that is combat ready.

  • This episode is fun, it makes me believe the slim chance that Karma exists...

  • 47:33 oh crap face. lol

  • good riddasnce commisoer, but in 1 small defence, this is the man that would become father to vincent on beauty and the beast.

  • I remember watching this as a little kid and distinctly thinking, "That has got to be the absolute worst way to go" If the seal is broken, the stasis pod incinerates you. If you choose to stay in, you die slowly from starvation and dehydration. That, my friends, is what we call truely and royally screwed.

  • @TomRiker01 Yeah, this one bothered me as a kid myself. Having said that, that final scene certainly hammered home the lesson, "don't be a selfish asshole." Too bad some people never learned that lesson. I'm thinking of people like Dick Cheney. His stasis pod awaits...

  • Enjoy the ride Simmons!

  • @MrChristian326 I always felt sorry for Commissioner Simmonds. The Alphan's had sympathy for him too at the end they wanted to bring him back. The Alphans are good people.

  • This is why Roger Wyndam-Pryce hates vampires in general, and Dracula, Spike and Drusilla in particular.

  • Comment removed

  • Christopher Lee still scares the hell out of me after his role as Dracula

  • count dooku poor commissioner simmons 80 yrs is a long ride
